Design and Performance Analysis of a Parallel Cell-Based Filtering Scheme using Horizontally-Partitioned Technique (수평 분할 방식을 이용한 병렬 셀-기반 필터링 기법의 설계 및 성능 평가)

  • It is required to research on high-dimensional index structures for efficiently retrieving high-dimensional data because an attribute vector in data warehousing and a feature vector in multimedia database have a characteristic of high-dimensional data. For this, many high-dimensional index structures have been proposed, but they have so called ‘dimensional curse’ problem that retrieval performance is extremely decreased as the dimensionality is increased. To solve the problem, the cell-based filtering (CBF) scheme has been proposed. But the CBF scheme show a linear decreasing on performance as the dimensionality. To cope with the problem, it is necessary to make use of parallel processing techniques. In this paper, we propose a parallel CBF scheme which uses a horizontally-partitioned technique as declustering. In order to maximize the retrieval performance of the proposed parallel CBF scheme, we construct our parallel CBF scheme under a SN (Shared Nothing) cluster architecture. In addition, we present a data insertion algorithm, a rage query processing one, and a k-NN query processing one which are suitable for the SN cluster architecture. Finally, we show that our parallel CBF scheme achieves better retrieval performance in proportion to the number of servers in the SN cluster architecture, compared with the conventional CBF scheme.

  • Urban railway are the most widely used means of transportation in the metropolitan area. It is difficult to draw out problems through the quantitative analysis technique because most of the research results show that most of the guide signs are installed with many or few guide signs. In this study, we propose a method to evaluate the information load and proper installation location at the main decision point in the transfer passageway for Suseo Station by applying Positive Guidance. As a result of analyzing the information load using this technique, it is suggested that the necessary information should be provided centered on the copper node because it provides confusion of the users by providing the same information in the transfer line. It is necessary to obtain guidance on how to remove the sign (advertising, high ceilings, etc). The study will be regarded as a key for the basis and placement of the guidelines for determining the appropriateness of the in the future urban railway station sign guide.

Safety evaluation of type B transport container for tritium storage vessel (B형 삼중수소 운반용기 안정성 평가)

  • A transport container for a 500 kCi tritium storage vessel was developed, which could be used for the transport of metal tritide from Wolsong TRF facility to a disposal site. The structural, thermal, shielding, and confinement analyses were performed for the container in a view of Type B. As a result of structural analysis, the developed container sustained its integrity under normal and accidental conditions. The maximum temperature increase of the inner storage vessel by radiation was evaluated at $134.8^{\circ}C at room temperature. In $800^{\circ}C$ fire test, The thermal barrier of container sustained the inner vessel at $405^{\circ}C after 30 min, which temperature was allowable for the container integrity since maximum design temperature of inner vessel was $550^{\circ}C. In the evaluation of the shielding, the activity of radiation was nearly zero on the outer surface of inner vessel. Consequently the transport container for a 500 kCi tritium was evaluated to pass all the safety tests including accidental condition, so it was concluded that the designed transport container is proper to be used.

Theoretical Analysis on the Factors Affecting the Power Efficiency of the Kalina Cycle (칼리나 사이클의 발전효율에 영향을 미치는 요소에 관한 이론적 해석)

  • This study examined the effects of the key parameters on the power efficiency of the waste heat power plant using the EES program to obtain data for the design of the 20kW Kalina power plant. The parameters include the ammonia mass fraction, vapor pressure, heat source temperature, and the cooling water temperature. According to the analyses, a lower ammonia mass fraction and a higher vapor pressure increase the efficiency, in general. On the other hand, this study shows that there is a specific region with a very low ammonia mass fraction, where the efficiency decreases with ammonia mass fraction. Regarding the vapor pressure at the turbine inlet, the power efficiency increases with increasing vapor pressure. In addition, it was found that the influence of the vapor pressure on the efficiency increases with increasing ammonia mass fraction. Finally, the optimal condition for the maximum power efficiency is defined in this study, i.e., the maximum efficiency was 15% with a 25bar vapor pressure, $160^{\circ}C$ heat source temperature, $10^{\circ}C$ cooling water temperature, and 0.4 ammonia mass fraction.

Analysis of Blasting Vibration at the Irregular Layered Structure Ground (불규칙한 층상구조 지반에서의 발파진동 분석)

  • By comparing test blasting data experimented in three layered-structure polymorphic grounds to a geological profile, influence of blast vibration with respect to uncontrollable ground characteristics was analyzed. Inefficient blast have been performed without sufficient verifications or confirmations because insufficiencies with regard to experiments and data of blasting engineering on the layered structures to be irregularly repeated clinker layer consisted of volcanic clastic zones. It is difficult to quantify N values of clinkers within test blasting region because they have diverse ranges, or coverages. An absolute value of attenuation coefficient N in a field, estimated by blasting vibration predictive equation (SRSD), are lesser than criteria of a design instruction, meaning that vibrations caused by blast can spread far away, and the vibrational characteristics of blasting test No.1, indicating relatively small values, inferred by the geological profile, pressures of gas by the explosion may be lost into a widely distributed clinker layers by penetrating holes resulted from blast into vicinity of clinker layers located in bottom of soft rock layers at the moment of blast. As a result, amounts of spalling rocks are decreased by almost half. Also, ranges of primary frequencies in the fields are identified as similar to those of natural frequency of typical structures.

Development of Nonlinear Spring Modeling Technique of Group Suction Piles in Clay (점성토 지반에 근입된 그룹 석션파일에 대한 비선형 스프링 모델링 기법 개발)

  • Recently, several researches on the development of new economical anchor systems have been performed to support floating structures. This study focused on the group suction piles, which connect mid-sized suction piles instead of a single suction pile with large-diameter. The group suction pile shows the complex bearing behavior with translation and rotation, so it is difficult to apply conventional design methods. Therefore, the numerical modeling technique was developed to evaluate the horizontal bearing capacity of the group suction piles in clay. The technique models suction piles as beam elements and soil reaction as non-linear springs. To analyze the applicability of the modeling, the horizontal load-movement curves of the proposed modeling were compared with those of three-dimensional finite element analyses. The comparison showed that the modeling underestimates the capacity and overestimate the displacement corresponding to the maximum capacity. Therefore, the correction factors for the horizontal soil resistance was proposed to match the bearing capacity from the three-dimensional finite element analyses.

A Study on The Dental field of Present Health Insurance for custom-made Prosthetic implant by Dental technicians (건강보험 급여화 관련 치과임플란트보철물 제작실태 연구)

  • Purpose: The Purpose of this study are to describe the Dental field of present health insurance for custom-made prosthetic implant by dental technicians' work. Results: A total of 300 dental technicians working at dental laboratories in Korea were randomly selected and surveyed, 206(68.7%) of them were used for the statistical analysis. Conclusion: Average daily working time was 10 hours 66%. The average cumulative credit of the clinic for dental prosthesis fabrication rates was Less than 10 million won(21.8%), 10~80 million won(11.7%), more than one hundred million won(1.5%). Remake dental prosthesis was one more than the monthly average of 98.5%. Causes of remake dental prosthesis was dentist impression 83% but did not pay 62.5%. Dental technicians Implant production period was 7 days(48.5%), 10 days(35%) was commissioned by dentists production time is 5 days(46.1%), 7 days(36.5%). President of dental laboratories 3.86 points and dental technicians 3.06 points knew differently about starting of implant health insurance coverage(p<.001). They alike were in favor of insurance coverage for the implant. Dental technicians were lower by 2.36 points for work do you know whether your health insurance application of dental prostheses. Dental technicians are 2.16 points on whether confidence in the pores payment of insurance coverage dental prosthesis, dental laboratory president was lower by 1.85 points. They are very low with 1.97 points on whether confidence in the rate payment of health insurance coverage dental prosthesis(p<.01). The implant prosthesis abutment selected, the abutments designed, design of the implant upper prosthetic, the upper prosthetic fitting dental technicians participate of dental laboratory president showed higher score (p <.05). Conclusion: Hours of dental technicians were making this short period of remake dental prosthesis-related dental prosthesis. Evaluation of Validity of Edentulous Digital Model for Complete Denture Fabrication (총의치 제작을 위한 무치악 디지털 모형의 정확도 평가)

  • One of the most critical causes in determining the clinical outcomes of dental prostheses is the validity of models. However, studies that evaluated validity of digital models are few. The objectives of this study were to evaluate validity of edentulous digital models for full denture fabrication. Twenty stone models (edentulous model) were manufactured and scanned by dental blue light emitting diode scanner. Twenty digital models were manufactured. Six linear distances (inter-canine distance, inter-molar distance, two dental arch lengths (right, left), two diagonal of dental arch lengths (right, left) were measured for validity evaluation. The measurements of distances of stone models were used by digital vernier caliper and digital models were used by computer program. The mean${\pm}$deviations values of six distances were calculated. The means were compared by the Mann Whitney U test (${\alpha}=0.05$). All statistical analysis were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 20.0. Although digital models were smaller than stone models in six distances, there were no significant differences (p>0.05) and non exceeded the clinical acceptable range. The edentulous digital models for full denture fabrication can be considered clinically acceptable.

The Characteristics of the Set-up Effect of Driven Piles (타입 말뚝의 지지력 증가효과 특성)

  • Since the study of Lee et al.(1994) there have been some case studies on the set-up effect of driven piles in Korea country. However, comprehensive examination on the analyses of the set-up effect with various testing data has not been carried out. In particular, the analysis of the influence of soil type and pile shape on the set-up effect has not been reported. It is necessary to analyse the test results of production piles in order to apply the set-up effect of driven piles for the field engineering. In this study some test piling and analyses were performed to give basic information to the piling design as well as the research on the set-up effect in sandy soils. The analyses on the set-up effect were performed with the monitoring data obtained from the high-strain dynamic loading tests. It was shown that the set-up effect of driven piles was not only affected by soil type but also by soil formation history It turned out that the set-up effect in sandy soils was considerable one that should not be ignored in the field, and that the bearing capacity increase of pile is mainly caused by the increase of shaft resistance. It was shown that the set-up effect of closed pile was larger than that of opened pile in clayey soils, while the set-up effect of opened pile was larger than that of closed pile in sandy soils.

Factors Influencing on Safety knowledge of Scuba divers (스쿠버다이버의 안전지식에 미치는 영향요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate on the safety knowledge level, and to identify the factors that affect the safety knowledge according to general characteristics of scuba divers. This research design was a descriptive study. Data of 179 scuba divers were collected from October 17, 2010 to June 17, 2011. Data were analyzed by SPSS PASW statistics 18.0 program. The mean score of safety knowledge related to diving was 2.07(${\pm}0.54$)(score range was 1~4). The highest score was safety knowledge to cope with the cold($2.42{\pm}0.64$점). The lowest score was safety knowledge for hyperexpansion of lungs. In the results of multivariate regression analysis after variable selection, Adjusted $R^2$ value was 0.567. The model fit was 56.7%. The factors that affect the safety knowledge were age(${\leqq}29$ years), equipment(all purchase, some lease), motivation(job), participation period(${\leqq}11$ months) and frequency(once a month)(p<.05, p<.001). It is necessary to develop and conduct the educational program for scuba divers safety at country level.
