This paper presents the design, fabrication, and calibration of a piezoelectric polymer-based sensorized microgripper. Electro discharge machining technology is employed to fabricate super-elastic alloy based micro gripper. It is tested to present improvement of mechanical performance. For integration of force sensor on the micro gripper, the sensor design based on the piezoelectric polymer PVDF film and fabrication process are presented. The calibration and performance test of force sensor integrated micro gripper are experimentally carried out. The force sensor integrated micro gripper is applied to perform fme alignment tasks of micro opto-electrical components. It successfully supplies force feedback to the operator through the haptic device and plays a main role in preventing damage of assembly parts by adjusting the teaching command.
Due to the high etch rate and low fabrication cost, the wet etching of silicon using KOH etchant is widely used in MEMS fabrication area. However, anisotropic etch characteristic obstruct intuitional mask design and compensation structures are required for mask design level. Therefore, the accurate modeling for various types of silicon surface is essential for fabrication of three-dimensional MEMS structure. In this paper, we modeled KOH etch profile for MEMS based energy harvester using fuzzy logic. Modeling results are compared with experimental results and it is applied to design of compensation structure for MEMS based energy harvester. Through Fuzzy inference approaches, developed model showed good agreement with the experimental results with limited etch rate information.
In recent tissue engineering field, it is being reported that the fabrication of 3D scaffolds having high porous and controlled internal/external architectures can give potential contributions in cell adhesion, proliferation and differentiation. To fabricate these scaffolds, various solid free-form fabrication technologies are being applied. The solid free-form fabrication technology has made it possible to fabricate solid free-form 3D microstructures in layer-by-layer manner. In this research, we developed a multi-head deposition system (MHDS) and used design of experiment (DOE) to fabricate 3D scaffold having an optimized internal/external shape, Through the organization of experimental approach using DOE, the fabrication process of scaffold, which is composed of blended poly-caprolactone (PCL), poly-lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) and tricalcium phosphate (TCP), is established to get uniform line width, line height and porosity efficiently Moreover, the feasibility of application to the tissue engineering of MHDS is demonstrated by human bone marrow stromal cells (hBMSCs) proliferation test.
We discuss the design and fabrication of CCD or C-MOS imaging lenses with hybrid diffractive / refractive optics. The hybrid lenses are made of optical grade plastic materials. We have been able to significantly reduce the number of elements while maintaining very high optical quality. This paper describes the conception, design, fabrication and evaluation of hybrid lenses in comparison with conventional refractive lenses. The new lens has excellent optical quality, very light weight, compact size and low manufacturing cost.

In the shipbuilding industry, three-dimensional (3D) templates play a key role in the completeness evaluation of shell plates with a large curvature in the shell-plate fabrication process. Currently, the information of 3D templates from a ship computer-aided design system is limited; thus, manufacturers depend on their experience to produce the templates manually. This results in the inaccuracy of templates in addition to increased production time. Therefore, if the pieces of the 3D templates can be produced automatically with accurate information, the lead time of the fabrication process can be reduced. In this study, we define a new type of template piece and develop methods for extending a boundary template and converting manufacturing information into numerical control machine input. In addition, based on the results of the study, we propose a production automation system for 3D template pieces. This system is expected to reduce the lead time of the fabrication process.
In this study, we developed a novel laser sintering deposition system (LSDS) based on solid free-form fabrication (SFF) technology as it has the potential to fabricate complex geometries with controllable architecture for bone tissue engineering applications. The 3D biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) scaffolds were fabricated with a pore size of 800㎛, a line width and height of 1000㎛, and an overall size of 8.2×8.2×8.0 mm3 according to the design of experiment (DOE) results. Additionally, an optimized manufacturing process using response surface analysis was established to fabricate 3D BCP scaffolds. The fabricated 3D BCP scaffolds were sintered at 950℃, 1050℃, 1150℃, and 1250℃ according to sintering processes with a furnace. As the sintering temperature increased, the porosity increased. Through the compressive strength test, the 3D BCP scaffolds sintered at 1050℃ presented good results of about 0.76 MPa. These results suggest that fabrication methods for 3D bioceramic scaffolds using LSDS may meet the basic requirements for bone tissue engineering.

Information security reports four types of basic attacks on information. One of the attacks is named as fabrication. Even though mobile devices and applications are showing its maturity in terms of performance, security and ubiquity, location-based applications still faces challenges of quality of service, privacy, integrity, authentication among mobile devices and hence mobile users associated with the devices. There is always a continued fear as how location information of users or IoT appliances is used by third party LB Service providers. Even adversary or malicious attackers get hold of location information in transit or fraudulently hold this information. In this paper, location information fabrication scenarios are presented after knowing basic model of information attacks. Peer-to-Peer broadcast model of location privacy is proposed. This document contains introduction to fabrication, solutions to such threats, management of fabrication mitigation in collaborative or peer to peer location privacy and its cost analysis. There are various infrastructure components in Location Based Services such as Governance Server, Point of interest POI repository, POI service, End users, Intruders etc. Various algorithms are presented and analyzed for fabrication management, integrity, and authentication. Moreover, anti-fabrication mechanism is devised in the presence of trust. Over cost analysis is done for anti-fabrication management due to nature of various cryptographic combinations.

This work describes efforts in the fabrication and testing of robust microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). Robustness is typically achieved by investigating non-silicon substrates and materials for MEMS fabrication. Some of the traditional MEMS fabrication techniques are applicable to robust MEMS, while other techniques are drawn from other technology areas, such as electronic packaging. The fabrication technologies appropriate for robust MEMS are illustrated through laminated polymer membrane based pressure sensor arrays. Each array uses a stainless steel substrate, a laminated polymer film as a suspended movable plate, and a fixed, surface micromachined back electrode of electroplated nickel. Over an applied pressure range from 0 to 34 kPa, the net capacitance change was approximately 0.14 pF. An important attribute of this design is that only the steel substrate and the pressure sensor inlet is exposed to the flow; i.e., the sensor is self-packaged.
The cooling rate and the uniformity of mold temperature, in the injection molding process, possess great influences on the productivity and quality of replications. The conformal cooling channel, which is of a uniform spacing from the mold cavity by the metal additive manufacturing process, receives much attention recently. The purpose of this study is to develop a mold core with a curved conformal cooling channel for a pottery-shaped thick-wall cosmetic container through the hybrid method of direct metal tooling (DMT) process. In this study, we design a mold core that contains the curved cooling channel for the container. A method that divides the cavity is proposed and the DMT process is carried out to form the curved cooling channel. The test mold core, with the curved conformal cooling channel, has been fabricated by the proposed method to confirm the feasibility of the design concept. We show that no leakage is observed for the additive manufactured test mold core, and its physical properties demonstrate that it can be sufficiently used as the injection mold core.
Micro engine that includes Micro scale combustor is fabricated. Design target was focused on the observation of combustion driven actuation in MEMS scale. Combustor design parameters are somewhat less than the size recommended by feasibility test. The engine structure is fabricated by isotropic etching of the photosensitive glass wafers. Electrode formed by electroplating of the Nickel. Photosensitive glass can be etched isotropically with almost vertical angle. Bonding and assembly of structured photosensitive glass wafer form the engine. Combustor size was determined to be 1 mm scale. Movable piston is engraved inside the wafer. Ignition was done by nickel spark plug which was electroplated with thickness of 40 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The wafers were bonded by epoxy that resists high temperature. In firing test due to the bonding method and design tolerance pressure buildup by reaction was not confirmed. But ignition, flame propagation and actuation of micro structure from the reaction was observed. From the result basement of design and fabrication technology was obtained.
