Construction designs are often produced with insufficient considerations on the constructability aspects. Poor constructability has resulted in delay, cost increase, disputes, safety hazards and inconvenience to the public. Increasingly, there has been a call for more systematic input of construction knowledge in the planning and design processes of modern day's infrastructure development. In some countries, notably the US, the practice of constructability reviews is on the rise, with concomitant benefits. It is advocated that construction plans and designs be subject to constructability reviews as early as possible. It should be made part of the project management strategy driven by the client. This paper outlines the constructability review process and benefits, whilst drawing lessons from a number of case studies.

Objectives To investigate the trends in clinical study on rheumatoid arthritis in all academic fields in Korea. Methods We searched seven Korean web databases for clinical studies published from 2008 to 2021. All identified studies were reviewed and classified by the year of publication, academic field, and study design. Results A total of 347 clinical studies were selected. An average of 26.7 studies were published each year. Regarding the distribution of studies by academic fields, 309 studies were published in the medical field and 17 studies were published during the same period in Korean medicine, and 21 studies were published in other fields. The distribution of studies by study design was as follows: 8 studies, meta-analyses; 5 studies, systematic reviews; 16 studies, experimental studies; and 318 studies, observational studies. Conclusions Multidisciplinary access and management are required for the early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, effective management of disease progression, and prevention of rheumatoid joint deformities. Additionally, study design with high-level of evidence on the intervention of rheumatoid arthritis are warranted.

In the development process of new naval ships, it is necessary to make the effort of the signature management and reduction of ship infrared(IR) signature to increase the ship survivability(susceptibility). So far the ship's contrast radiant intensity is used as a ship IR signature design criteria during the naval ship design stages. However, nowaday it is in a state of disorder at the basic design stage because of the lack of any related studies and methods. In this study, the IR signature management methods for improving the signature reduction and ship survivability are suggested by the comparison analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of signature management techniques. And also the criteria for the ship signature management are suggested when considering the infrared signature measuring assets and sea trial environments of the Korean peninsula.

Improving long-term performance in highway projects is an imperative goal for public administrations. Project delivery and procurement methods might provide an opportunity to align design and construction processes with this goal. Previous studies have explored whether project delivery methods impact the long-term performance of highway projects. However, these studies did not focus specifically on how core elements within the procurement might relate to long-term performance. Thus, this research aims to fill this gap by exploring to what extent and how long-term evaluation criteria are considered in design-build best-value procurement of highway projects. To this end, content analysis was conducted on 100 projects procured between 2009 and 2019 by 19 DOTs across the U.S. The analysis of 365 evaluation criteria found that (1) roughly 11% of them related to long-term performance. (2) The weight given to these criteria in the overall technical proposal was lower than 30%. (3) Sixty-five percent (65%) of long-term evaluation criteria focused on design while 15% related to materials and technology, respectively. The results of this study are a first steppingstone to initiate a deep exploration of the relationship between procurement practices and actual project performance. Currently, with sustainability and life cycle assessments being top concerns in infrastructure projects, this line of research might be of particular interest to DOTs and highway agencies across the U.S. and worldwide.

국어를 공부하는 외국인 학생들이 몇 년간 급격하게 증가하면서 한국어의 국제적인 지위가 올라가고 있다. 하지만 외국인 학생들의 입장에서는 한국어를 배우는 과정에 많은 어려움을 겪는 점이 드러나고 있다. 또한 이에 더해 한국 학생들과 외국인 학생들간의 이해관계가 어려워지는 점을 지적하는 연구가 나오고 있다. 에린 샌더의 디자인 연구 스파이럴을 통해서 이 논문은 한국에 있는 외국인 학생들의 한국어 교육경험을 조사했다. 또한 이 학생들의 한국어 학습에 대한 인식과 효과적인 요인들을 분석하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 디자인 연구를 통해 한국어 학습에 중요한 통찰을 결과로 도출했으며, 외국인 학생들이 한국어를 효과적으로 공부하는데 기여할 디자인 기회를 도출한 의의가 있다.
