Adaptive nonsingular sliding mode based guidance law with terminal angular constraint

  • In this paper, a new adaptive nonsingular terminal sliding mode control theory based impact angle guidance law for intercepting maneuvering targets was documented. In the design procedure, a new adaptive law for target acceleration bound estimation was presented, which allowed the proposed guidance law to be used without the requirement of the information on the target maneuvering profiles. With the aid of Lyapunov stability criteria, the finite-time convergent characteristics of the line-of-sight angle and its derivative were proven in theory. Numerical simulations were also performed under various conditions to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed guidance law.

  • Until now, many guidance laws have been developed. They mainly used the classical tail-pursuit guidance method based on geometric angle information, the proportional navigation method based on the line of sight(LOS) rate, and the optimal guidance law based on optimal control theorem. In the augmented guidance law, target acceleration information and autopilot characteristics are added the guidance command. In this study, new guidance laws considering geometric angle are proposed. Two guidance laws are developed for the midcourse guidance law, and a guidance law is developed for the terminal guidance respectively.   • This paper provides a design method for a dynamic output feedback controller which stabilizes a class of linear time invariant systems. We suppose all the states of the given system is not measurable and only the outputs are used to stabilize the system. The systems considered cannot be stabilized by a static output feedback only. In the scheme we first assume that the given system can be stabilized by a state feedback composed of its output, velocity of the output and its higher order derivative terms. Instead of using the derivatives of the output, however, a dynamic system is constructed systematically which replaces the role of the derivative terms. Then, a high-gain output feedback stabilizes the composite system together with the newly constructed system. The performance of the proposed control law is illustrated in the comparative simulation studies of a numerical example with an observer-based control law.

  • Mathematical models of industrial robots or manipulators are highly nonlinear equations with nonlinear coupling between the variables of motion. As the working speed has been fast, the effects of nonlinear terms have become serious. So the control algorithm based on approximately linearized equation looses the efficiency. In order to design the control law for the nonlinear models, Hunt-Su's nonlinear transformation method and Marino's feedback equivalence condition are used with linear quadratic regulator(LQR) theory in this study. Nonlinear terms of the system are eliminated and coupled terms are decoupled by this feedback law. This method is applied to a 3-D.O.F. vertical articulated manipulator by both experiments and simulations and compared with PID control which is widely used in the industry.

Cooperative Guidance Law for Multiple Near Space Interceptors with Impact Time Control

  • We propose a novel cooperative guidance law design method based on the finite time disturbance observer (FTDO) for multiple near space interceptors (NSIs) with impact time control. Initially, we construct a cooperative guidance model with head pursuit, and employ the FTDO to estimate the system disturbance caused by target maneuvering. We subsequently separate the cooperative guidance process into two stages, and develop the normal acceleration command based on the super-twisting algorithm (STA) and disturbance estimated value, to ensure the convergence of the relative distance. Then, we also design the acceleration command along the line-of-sight (LOS), based on the nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode (NFTSM) control, to ensure that all the NSIs simultaneously hit the target. Furthermore, we prove the stability of the closed-loop guidance system, based on the Lyapunov theory. Finally, our simulation results of a three-to-one interception scenario show that the proposed cooperative guidance scheme makes all the NSIs hit the target at the same time.

  • In this paper, We present a new nonlinear adaptive control law using a disturbance accommodating control (DAC) observer for a Japanese automatic landing flight experiment vehicle called ALFLEX. A future spaceplane must have ability to deal with greater fluctuations in the stability and control derivatives of flight dynamics, because its flight region is much wider than that of conventional aircraft. In our previous studies, digital adaptive flight control systems have been developed based on a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) model depending on dynamic pressure, and obtained good simulation results. However, under previous control laws, it is difficult to accommodate uncertainties represented by disturbance and nonlinearity, and to design a stable flight control system. Therefore, in this study, we attempted to design a nonlinear adaptive control law using the DAC Observer and inverse dynamic methods. A good tracking property of the obtained system was confirmed in numerical simulation.

  • This paper presents a systematic analysis and a simple design of a robust adaptive control law for a class of non linear systems with modeling errors and a time-delay input. The theory for designing a robust adaptive control law based on input- output feedback linearization of non linear systems with uncertainties and a time-delay in the manipulated input by the approach of parameterized state feedback control is presented. The main advantage of this method is that the parameterized state feedback control law can effectively suppress the effect of the most parts of nonlinearities, including system uncertainties and time-delay input in the pp-coupling perturbation form and the relative order of non linear systems is not limited.

  • Attitude control law design for spacecraft large angle maneuvers is investigated in this paper. The feedback linearization technique is applied to the design of a nonlinear tracking control law. The output function to be tracked is the quaternion attitude parameter. The designed control law turns out to be a combination of attitude and attitude rate tracking commands. The attitude-only output function, therefore, leads to a stable closed-loop system following the given reference trajectory. The principal advantage of the proposed method is that it is relatively easy to produce reference trajectories and associated controller.

  • We present a state-space approach to design a passivity-based dynamic output feedback control of a finite collection of non-square linear systems. We first determine a squaring gain matrix and an additional dynamics that is connected to the systems in a feedforward way, then a static passivating (i.e. rendering passive) control law is designed. Consequently, the actual feedback controller will be the static control law combined with the feedforward dynamics. A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the parallel feedfornward compensator (PFC) is given by the static output feedback fomulation, which enables to utilize linear matrix inequality (LMI). The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by some examples including the systems which can be stabilized by the proprotional-derivative (PD) control law.
