  • In this paper, a lateral vehicle control using the concept of control configured vehicle(CCV) is presented. The control objectives for the lateral dynamics of a vehicle include the ability to commend a chosen variable without significant motion change in other specified variables. The analysis techniques fur decoupling of the aircraft motions are utilized to develop vehicle lateral control with advanced mode. Vehicle lateral dynamic is determined to have the steering input and control torque input. The additional vehicle modes are also defined to using CCV concept. We use right eigenstructure assignment techniques and command generator tracker to design a control law for an lateral vehicle dynamics. The desired eigenvectors are chosen to achieve the desired decoupling(i.e., lateral direction speed and yaw rate). The command generator tracker is used to ensure steady-state tracking of the driver's command. Finally, the developed design is utilized by using the lateral vehicle dynamic with four wheel.

  • This paper proposes a design and fabrication of the test equipment that is implemented as a part of the airborne tracking radar inspection under the environment of indoor simulation. This test equipment provides controlling the operation status of airborne tracking radar and replicating the velocity and range information of target by generating a variety of target signal. This is mainly composed of radar operation controller, target signal generator, horn antenna driving devices. Radar operation controller is able to perform the controlling of radar operation mode and monitoring in real time by serial communication. Target signal generator is generated doppler signal and range delayed signal using virtual target of RF-band. Horn antenna driving devices perform a role of target simulating exercise. In the end, the performance is demonstrated using experiment results of test equipment for airborne tracking radar.

  • A performance analysis program has been developed for the gas generator cycle liquid rocket engine. This program predicts the system performance with the performances of subsystems which are evaluated by the models based on another analyses or experiments. The analysis method has been validated by comparing the engine performance against the published conceptual design. The performance models of the subsystems have been verified to give reasonable results by comparing with the MC-1 engine design and the system analysis of 10 ton thrust engine. The system performance of the 30 ton thrust rocket engine using LOx/Jet-A1 has been presented as an application example.

  • The resilient mounts of a diesel engine installed onboard a ship should be designed for both static and dynamic loads. If possible, the resonance frequencies of the six rigid body modes of the installation and the flexible modes of the engine support structure should not lie within the engine operation range. In this paper a design criterion is proposed to evaluate an isolation system which involves the summation of dynamic forces transmitted through the resilient mounts and elastic potential energy index stored in the mounts. A case study is also presented in which a diesel engine generator, which had an elastic foundation and was mounted in a 5500 TEU container vessel, was studied both theoretically and experimentally. The theoretical analysis of the test model was performed by using a single mass 6 degree of freedom system. Actual measurements of mechanical vibration of the engine and its foundation onboard were carried out, which showed the importance of including the flexibility of the engine support structure in the mode.

  • The article presents a parametric study on geometrical design optimization for coupling the joint between a large exhaust air chimney and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) shield for gas turbine electricity generator. We conducted computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations on hydraulic diameters of waveguide below cutoff(WBC) ranges 800mm~1025mm, the connection distance ranges 150~450mm, and exhaust gas flow velocities at 15, 20, and 25m/s. The results show that the diameter of main chimney, connection distance, and exhaust gas velocity had impacts on flow stream at the EMP shield. To provide a fully developed stream line at three different flow velocity cases, the WBC diameter and distance of connection should be larger than 1050mm and longer than 300mm, respectively.

  • This work presents numerical results, using OpenFOAM, of the flow in the swirl flow generator test rig developed at Politehnica University of Timisoara, Romania. The work shows results computed by solving the unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes equations. The unsteady method couples the rotating and stationary parts using a sliding grid interface based on a GGI formulation. Turbulence is modeled using the standard k-${\varepsilon}$ model, and block structured wall function ICEM-Hexa meshes are used. The numerical results are validated against experimental LDV results, and against design velocity profiles. The investigation shows that OpenFOAM gives results that are comparable to the experimental and design profiles. The unsteady pressure fluctuations at four different positions in the draft tube is recorded. A Fourier analysis of the numerical results is compared whit that of the experimental values. The amplitude and frequency predicted by the numerical simulation are comparable to those given by the experimental results, though slightly over estimated.

  • This study presents a design method for a single-loop voltage controller that is suitable for an arbitrary waveform generator (AWG). The voltage control algorithm of AWG should ensure high dynamic performance and should attain sufficient robustness to disturbances such as inverter nonlinearity, sensor noise, and load current. By analyzing the power circuit of AWG, control limitation and control target are presented to improve the dynamic performance of AWG. The proposed voltage control algorithm is composed of a single-loop output voltage control, an inverter current feedback term to improve transient response, and a load current feedforward term to prevent voltage distortion. The guideline for setting control gain is presented based on output filter parameters and digital time delay. The performance of the proposed algorithm is proven by experimental results through comparison with the conventional algorithm.

  • A low capacity generator converted to high capacity of 40m3 is designed and developed in order to use the hydroxy gas in the steel manufacturing process. For efficient design, it is increased from 8 electrode tubes to 10 electrode tubes as well as expanding the diameter of cell integument up to two times bigger, which can increase the amount of hydrogen occurrence per a cell significantly. In addition, circulating pump and pipe, heat exchanger of affiliated SUS material have been used in the circulation of electrolysis catalyst, and circulating cooling section and piping design are also developed. The flame trap is designed into all-in-one suitable check valve in the flow rate of 28-35m3/h and its application is possibly applied in work operation. It is found that the efficiency of generator developed is enhanced substantially up to 84%. It is expected that the application in this field can be expanded significantly by this study.

  • A pyrotechnic igniter with a relatively simple configuration was developed to secure the stable and reliable ignition of the gas generator in space launch vehicles. It was designed not only to provide a sufficient heat flux for the propellant ignition but also to ensure a structural safety under the conditions of very high temperatures and pressures. The burning tests of the igniters have been performed to decide several design parameters, and consequently the performance tests have proved that the pyrotechnic igniter developed in this study meets the design requirements.

  • Optimal design of the direct-driven PM Wind Generator, combined with DEAS(Dynamic Encoding Algorithm for Searches) and FEM(Finite Element Method), has been proposed to maximize the Annual Energy Production(AEP) over the whole wind speed characterized by the statistical model of wind speed distribution. In particular, DEAS contributes to reducing the excessive computing time for the optimization process.
