Despite the growing attention on artificial intelligence-based automated scoring technology as a support method for the introduction of descriptive items in school environments and large-scale assessments, there is a noticeable lack of foundational research in mathematics compared to other subjects. This study developed an automated scoring model for two descriptive items in first-year middle school mathematics using the Random Forest algorithm, evaluated its performance, and explored ways to enhance this performance. The accuracy of the final models for the two items was found to be between 0.95 to 1.00 and 0.73 to 0.89, respectively, which is relatively high compared to automated scoring models in other subjects. We discovered that the strategic selection of the number of evaluation categories, taking into account the amount of data, is crucial for the effective development and performance of automated scoring models. Additionally, text preprocessing by mathematics education experts proved effective in improving both the performance and interpretability of the automated scoring model. Selecting a vectorization method that matches the characteristics of the items and data was identified as one way to enhance model performance. Furthermore, we confirmed that oversampling is a useful method to supplement performance in situations where practical limitations hinder balanced data collection. To enhance educational utility, further research is needed on how to utilize feature importance derived from the Random Forest-based automated scoring model to generate useful information for teaching and learning, such as feedback. This study is significant as foundational research in the field of mathematics descriptive automatic scoring, and there is a need for various subsequent studies through close collaboration between AI experts and math education experts.
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify behavioral items for Korean infants under 24months by naturalistic observation. These items will be the basis for developmental scale for Korean infants. Method: Data were collected by observing and interviewing fifty one infants and their mothers during the period from November 15 to December 14, 2003. Raw data in descriptive form were obtained by unstructured naturalistic observation, and were reformed to behavioral items through discussion with professors in pediatric nursing and experienced nurses in child care department. Also, behavioral items were classified into five developmental areas. Result: Total number of behavioral items was two hundreds and thirty eight. 52 items for motor development, 66 items for personal-social, 40 items for hearing and speech, 41 items for eye-hand coordination, and 39 items for performance. Conclusion: This is meaningful that fundamental items for Korean developmental scale for infants were identified by observing behaviors of Korean infants. On the basis of these items, average age will be calculated for passing each item by testing Korean infants. We hope to develop Korean infant developmental scale as a final outcome in the future research.
Purpose: This study is a descriptive correlation study to identify how factors such as motivation to learn, school adaptation, self-control, and self-esteem influence the degree of Internet game addiction and to provide basic data for nursing interventions for male middle school students. Methods: The subjects of this study were 418 male students in lst, 2nd and 3rd grade at three middle schools located in Ulsan. Data were collected from May 1, 2011 to May 31, 2011 and analyzed through descriptive statistical methods, such as the t-test, ANOVA, Sheffe's test, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis, via SPSS 18.0 program. The study's structured questionnaire was composed of 25 items of 'the Motivation to Learn Scale', 41 items of 'the School Adaptation Scale', 20 items of 'the Self-Control Scale', 10 items of 'the Self-esteem Scale', and 20 items of 'the Internet Game Addiction Scale'. Results: 163 students (39.0%) belonged to the non-addiction group while 255 students (61.0%) fell into the addiction risk group. The addiction risk group showed a higher degree of addiction than ones in the non-addiction group. The addiction risk group's average scores for motivation to learn, school adaptation, self-control, and self-esteem were lower than those of the non-addiction group. The statistically significant factors (p<.05) that increase the chance of addiction were grade, family atmosphere, self-control, trading of online game items, and the amount of time playing online games. Conclusion: On the basis of the findings of this study, it is suggested that; qualitative research on the routes of addiction be conducted to find out ways to prevent and nurse addicted students; considering the fact that the average age of Internet users is getting lower and lower, a study targeting primary school students be implemented; since the influences of the variables covered in this study turned out to be relatively low, other factors, especially environmental factors, should also be investigated.

In this paper, we proposes a method to effectively evaluate learner competencies of computational thinking. Developed descriptive performance assessment tool is the use of assessment items presented in a creative computing MIT. This tool is selected and modified items through expert delphi technique. The performance assessment tool is composed of four areas that are an experimenting and iterating, testing and debugging, reusing and remixing and abstracting and modularizing. We apply to software classes for the pre-service teachers and conducted this descriptive performance assessment. Applying result of the assessment, the developed assessment tool shows the reliability $Cronbach-{\alpha}$ values higher than 0.6. In addition, the validity of the test results is higher in experts delphi test. Descriptive assessment tool suggested in this study are identified as a useful assessment tool to effectively measure student CT competencies.
Purpose: This study was to develop a Health Dieting Competency (HDC) scale to assess self-rated health dieting competence of college students. Methods: The scale was developed as follows: items generated, and tests of validity and reliability. Items were developed through a literature review, review of instruments, and interviews. A panel of four experts reviewed the scale for content validity. Factor analysis, Pearson correlation, descriptive statistics and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ were used to analyze the data (N=183). Results: In the preliminary stage, thirty-three items were generated. Final items were fourteen that were selected through exploratory factor analysis. The HDC scale was consisted with five factors and fourteen items that were Goal-Directed (5-items), Health Support (2-items), Health Self-Efficacy (3-items), Health Perception (2-items), and Escaping from Health (2-items). The internal consistency of HDC as measured by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .78. Conclusion: Content validity, construct validity, and reliability of the HDC were established. The HDC scale is a reliable and valid instrument for early adulthood youth who are willing to assess health dieting competency.
Nowadays, people are more concerned about health food than satisfying their hunger. Therefore, media presents programs related to health food such as dietary food, traditional food, and herbal items. The trend has emphasized the importance of traditional food items and the need for a 'han-bang' menu development The purpose of this study was to identify the perception of herbal items and other food items used in medicinal cuisine in the Seoul Area. Out of 300 questionnaires distributed, 287 were collected and analyzed. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA, and T-test were conducted using SPSS 12.0 for windows. This study identified that the perception of herbal items was influenced by age, education, and wage level. Daily eating habits partially affected on the perception of herbal items. Accordingly, these findings indicate that it is necessary for 'han-bang' menu' development set to target market.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the knowledge and practice on hospital infection prevention of caregivers of hospitalized children. The results will be the basic data of future policy and education program for hospital infection prevention. Methods: A descriptive survey design was utilized, The subjects included 151 caregivers from a university hospital in Gyeongnam Province, Korea. The data was collected using a self-reported questionnaire which included 17 items for knowledge, 18 items for practice, developed by researchers from March 2005 to January 2006. The collected data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA using SPSS program. Results: The mean score of knowledge on infection prevention was .87 of 1 (especially low in method of hand washing item), and practice, 2.60 of 3 (especially low in protection from other people items). There were differences in practice by admission frequency (F=2.83, p = .04), but there were no differences in knowledge by any general characteristics. Conclusion: The degree of knowledge and practice on caregiver's infection prevention was not enough to prevent hospital infection of hospitalized children. Therefore, effective strategies should be developed to prevent hospital infection of hospitalized children.
Purpose: This descriptive study was conducted to identify burnout and factors influencing burnout in clinical nurses.
