The high temperature deformation behavior of AZ 31 Mg alloy was investigated by designing a back propagation neural network that uses a gradient descent-learning algorithm. A neural network modeling is an intelligent technique that can solve non-linear and complex problems by learning from the samples. Therefore, some experimental data have been firstly obtained from continuous compression tests performed on a thermo-mechanical simulator over a range of temperatures $(250-500^{\circ}C)$ with strain rates of $0.0001-100s^{-1}$ and true strains of 0.1 to 0.6. The inputs for neural network model are strain, strain rate, and temperature and the output is flow stress. It was found that the trained model could well predict the flow stress for some experimental data that have not been used in the training. Workability of a material can be evaluated by means of power dissipation map with respect to strain, strain rate and temperature. Power dissipation map was constructed using the flow stress predicted from the neural network model at finer Intervals of strain, strain rates and subsequently processing maps were developed for hot working processes for AZ 31 Mg alloy. The safe domains of hot working of AZ 31 Mg alloy were identified and validated through microstructural investigations.
This study was aimed at offering basic data to develop a new use of sawdust and rice husk. The results of this study were as follows: In surface temperature of ceramics by resin impregnation rate, the velocity was great in the early time of heat transfer because the temperature precipitously increased to 10 minutes elapsed. Also, the surface temperature of ceramics manufactured in resin impregnation rate of 60~70% indicated the highest. Heat transfer was fast in terms of the changes in surface temperature of ceramics according to the carbonization temperature, as because the density of ceramics made on condition of the carbonization temperature of $1000^{\circ}C$and $1200^{\circ}C$ was high. Moreover, ceramics maintained heat for a long time because the descent velocity of surface temperature of ceramics was slower than that of heater.

Fault diagnosis and condition monitoring for rotating machines are important for efficiency and accident prevention. The process of fault diagnosis is to extract the feature of signals and to classify each state. Conventionally, fault diagnosis has been developed by combining signal processing techniques for spectral analysis and pattern recognition, however these methods are not able to diagnose correctly for certain rotating machines and some faulty phenomena. In this paper, we add a minimum detection error algorithm to the previous method to reduce detection error rate. Vibration signals of the induction motor are measured and divided into subband signals. Each subband signal is processed to obtain the RMS, standard deviation and the statistic data for constructing the feature extraction vectors. We make a study of the fault diagnosis system that the feature extraction vectors are applied to K-means clustering algorithm and minimum detection error algorithm.

The noise is one of the serious problems concerning helicopters operations. The issue of helicopter external noise generated mainly from a helicopter rotor has always affected the use of rotorcrafts, especially in the urban environment. The noise sources depend on the flight configurations. In particular, a noise generated by the interaction between blades and tip vortices mainly occurs during descent flight. This noise is called blade-vortex interaction (BVI) noise, and this BVI noise is particularly penalizing for helicopters. In this paper, a numerical study to capture the BVI noise is carried out. The numerical study is performed in two phases. In the first phase, a 2D simulation based on parallel BYI event of Kitapliglu et al experiment is performed. In the second phase, 3D simulation based on HART Ⅱ experiment is performed. Several experimental data such as thrust, torque, blade sectional load, its derivative and vortex location are compared with calculation results and the comparison showed reasonably good agreement.

To study the eruption pattern of the mandibular first permanent molar, the author took 263 cases of Oblique Cephalogram from age 3 to 6 years old children and observed the vertical and mesiodistal directional change and tooth axis change. The following results were obtained.; 1. The eruption pattern of the mandibular first permanenl molar was changed at about 60~66 months or calcification stage IX. 2. At the early stage, the path of eruption of the mandibular first permanent molar directed upward and forward and after calcification stage IX it changed to the direction of upward. 3. The height of the alveolar bone of the upper part of the mandibular first permanent molar was almost equal to that of the interseptal bone of the first and second deciduous molar, but the height showed gradual descent afterwards. 4. At the early stage, the distance from the distal end of the mandibular second deciduous molar to the anterior portion of the ascending ramus was 1.2~1.4 times larger than the mesio-distal diameter of the mandibular first permanent molar, but at the later stage it was enlarged 1.7~1.9 times larger than the mesiodistal diameter of the mandibular first permanent molar.

In this paper, we propose the low sidelobe digital FIR doppler filter bank synthesis algorithm through the Gradient Descent method and it can be practially appliable to coherent pulse doppler radar signal processing. This algorithm shows the appropriate calculation of tap coefficients or zeros for FIR transversal fiter which has been employed in radar signal processor. The span of the filters in the filter bank be selected at the desired position the designer want to locate, and the lower sidelobe level that has equal ripple property is achieved than one for which the conventional weithtedwindow is used. Especially, when we implemented filter zeros as design parameters it is possible to make null filter gain at zero frequency intensionally that would be very efficient for the eliminatio of ground clutter. For the example of 10 tap filter synthesis, when filter coefficients or zeros are selected as design parameters the corresponding sidelobelevel is reducedto -70db or -100db respectively and it has good convergent characteristics to the desired sidelobe reference value. The accuracy ofapproach to the reference value and the speed of convergence that show the performance measure of this algorithm are tuned out with some superiority and the fact that the bandwidth of filter appears small with respect to one which is made by conventional weighted window method is convinced. Since the filter which is synthesized by this algorithm can remove the clutter without loss of target signal it strongly contributes performance improvement with which detection capability would be concerned.

A practical Ship Inner Shell Optimization Method (SISOM), the purpose of which is to improve the safety of the seagoing transport ship by decreasing the maximum Still Water Bending Moment (SWBM) of the hull girder under all typical loading conditions, is presented in this paper. The objective of SISOM is to make the maximum SWBM minimum, and the section areas of the inner shell are taken as optimization variables. The main requirements of the ship performances, such as cargo hold capacity, propeller and rudder immersion, bridge visibility, damage stability and prevention of pollution etc., are taken as constraints. The penalty function method is used in SISOM to change the above nonlinear constraint problem into an unconstrained one, which is then solved by applying the steepest descent method. After optimization, the optimal section area distribution of the inner shell is obtained, and the shape of inner shell is adjusted according to the optimal section area. SISOM is applied to a product oil tanker and a bulk carrier, and the maximum SWBM of the two ships is significantly decreased by changing the shape of inner shell plate slightly. The two examples prove that SISOM is highly efficient and valuable to engineering practice.
The Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm is the most widely used fitting algorithm. It outperforms simple gradient descent and other conjugate gradient methods in a wide variety of problems. Based on the work of paper[1], we propose a modified Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm for better performance of mobile system. The LM parameter at the $k_{th}$ iteration is chosen ${\mu}=A{\bullet}{\parallel}f(x){\parallel}{\bullet}I$ where f is the residual function, and J is the Jacobi of f. In this paper, we show this method is more efficient than traditional method under the situation that the system iteration is limited.

This paper discusses the multi-level optimization method in dynamic optimization problems through stiffened plate of ship structures. In structural optimization the computational cost increases rapidly as the number of design variables increases. And we need a great amount of cal-culation and time on problems of modified dynamic characteristics of large and complicated struc-tures. In this paper the multi-level optimization is proposed which decreases computational time and cost. the dynamic optimum designs of stiffened plate that control the natural frequency and minimize weight subjected to constraints condition are derived. The way to apply the multi-level optimization methods in this study follow: In the first step the dynamic characteristics is controlled for the two-dimensional model of stiffened plate by sensitivity analysis and quasi-least squares methods. In the second step the cross-section of the stiffener is decided so that the weight is minimized under needed constraints by the steepest descent or ascent method. In the third the three-dimensional model is made based on the results of the first step and the second step confirmation and finer tuning of the objective function are carried out. It is shown that the results are effective in the optimum modification for dynamic characteristics of the stiffened plate.

Heliostat, as a concentrator reflecting the incident solar energy to the receiver located at the tower, is the most important system in the tower-type solar thermal power plant, since it determines the efficiency and performance of solar thermal plower plant. Thus, a good sun tracking ability as well as its good optical property are required. In this paper, we propose a method to compensate the heliostat sun tracking error. We first model the sun tracking error, which could be measured using BCS (Beam Characterization System), by multilayered neural network. Then the extended Kalman filter was employed to train the neural network. Finally the model is used to compensate the sun tracking errors. Simulated result shows that the method proposed in this paper improve the heliostat sun tracking performance dramatically. It also shows that the training of neural network by the extended Kalman filter provides faster convergence property, more accurate estimation and higher measurement noise rejection ability compared with the other training methods like gradient descent method.
