  • In this study, we propose a revised dynamic ROI (Region-of-Interest) coding method in which the focused ROI is automatically extracted without help from users during the recovery process of low DOF (Depth-of-Field) JPEG2000 image. The proposed method creates edge mask information using high frequency sub-band data on a specific level in DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform), and then identifies the edge code block for a high-speed ROI extraction. The algorithm scans the edge mask data in four directions by the unit of code block and identifies the edge code block simply and fastly using a edge threshold. As the results of experimentation applying for Implicit method, the proposed method showed the superiority in the side of speed and quality comparing to the existing methods.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the control possibility of garlic white rot causing severe yield losses of Allium species and cultivars using cultural practices such as optimal sowing date and burial depth, and lime application. Inoculum density in infested field soil was investigated at different soil depth, and that on the diseased plant debris was done. Inoculum density and recovery ratio of white rot pathogen of garlic was highly different between two species of Sclerotium cepivorum forming comparatively small sclerotia and Sclerotium sp. forming comparatively large ones. It was confirmed that S. cepivorum formed more sclerotia on bulbs of garlic than S. sp., and sclerotial recovery of S. cepivorum was higher than that of S. sp. Inoculum density of white rot pathogen in the infested field at garlic seeding period ranged from one to thirteen sclerotia per 30 g soil. Inoculum density of white rot pathogen decreased remarkably with increasing soil depth and above 95% of sclerotia were distributed within 5 cm of soil depth. Disease severity of white rot was higher on slightly planted garlics than deeply-planted ones. Garlic seed bulbs infected by white rot pathogens were confirmed to be one of main inoculum sources of white rot in the field and the disease incidences caused by garlic seed transmission showed big differences among garlic varieties. When nine garlic varieties harvested from infested plots were sown in the field, highly susceptible varieties, ‘Wando’, ‘Daeseo’, ‘Namdo’ and ‘Kodang’ showed high disease incidences, whereas other five varieties were not infected at all. It was confirmed that white rot occurred higher on early-sown garlics, before middle October, than on late-sown ones, after late October. Meanwhile, increasing application rate of lime ranged from 100 to 300 g reduced disease severity of white rot.

  • The problem of model selection arises in a number of contexts, such as subset selection in linear regression, estimation of structures in graphical models, and signal denoising. This paper studies non-asymptotic model selection for the general case of arbitrary (random or deterministic) design matrices and arbitrary nonzero entries of the signal. In this regard, it generalizes the notion of incoherence in the existing literature on model selection and introduces two fundamental measures of coherence-termed as the worst-case coherence and the average coherence-among the columns of a design matrix. It utilizes these two measures of coherence to provide an in-depth analysis of a simple, model-order agnostic one-step thresholding (OST) algorithm for model selection and proves that OST is feasible for exact as well as partial model selection as long as the design matrix obeys an easily verifiable property, which is termed as the coherence property. One of the key insights offered by the ensuing analysis in this regard is that OST can successfully carry out model selection even when methods based on convex optimization such as the lasso fail due to the rank deficiency of the submatrices of the design matrix. In addition, the paper establishes that if the design matrix has reasonably small worst-case and average coherence then OST performs near-optimally when either (i) the energy of any nonzero entry of the signal is close to the average signal energy per nonzero entry or (ii) the signal-to-noise ratio in the measurement system is not too high. Finally, two other key contributions of the paper are that (i) it provides bounds on the average coherence of Gaussian matrices and Gabor frames, and (ii) it extends the results on model selection using OST to low-complexity, model-order agnostic recovery of sparse signals with arbitrary nonzero entries. In particular, this part of the analysis in the paper implies that an Alltop Gabor frame together with OST can successfully carry out model selection and recovery of sparse signals irrespective of the phases of the nonzero entries even if the number of nonzero entries scales almost linearly with the number of rows of the Alltop Gabor frame.

  • This field experiment was carried out to determine the effects of fertilizer application time in early spring on growth, dry matter (DM) yield, crude protein (CP) content, crude protein yield (CPY), N recovery, acid detergent fibej (ADF) content and DM digestibility (DMD) of grasses for hay. Application times of fertilizer were March 10, 20, 30, April 9. 19, and control (non-fertilized) plot was involved. The fust harvesting data for hay was May 9 (early heading stage) and the regrowth yields were investigated for soiling, 1989. In all fertilized plots, the growth, DM yield, CP, CPY and N recovery of grasses were significantly increased compared with control, and the best grass growth, DM yield, CP, CPY, N recovery and DMD were observed on March 20 and 30 among all fertilized plots. On March 20 and 30 in this experiment, the accumulated temperature was 200 and 280^{\circ}C.$, and the subsoil temperature at 10 cm depth was 8 and 10^{\circ}C.$. Considering the average meteorological condition in Suwon area, the optimum application time of early spring for hay may be recommended from April 10 to 15. i\ulcornerfW3U% (L. westock Experiment Station, RDA. • In order to find out policy and practical implications to support recovering drug addicts in a holistic way, This study conducted in-depth interviews with five research participants using Giorgi's phenomenological study method to understand the meaning of spiritual experience of recovering drug addicts. According to data analysis, these spirituality experiences appeared as two thematic themes: 'experience of relationship with a divine being' and 'experience of inherent transcendence'. Three sub-themes of 'fear and scary existence', 'hanging object' and 'embracing existence' were derived from the essence theme of 'experience of relationship with a divine being' and 'immanent transcendental experience' was conceptualized into four sub-themes: 'facing existence', 'psychological reconstruction', 'mental maturity', and 'a way to go alone'. Based on this, spiritual experiences of recovery drug addicts showed that religion itself exerted a considerable influence on their spiritual experience and their spiritual experience was closely related to the recovery of humanity. Also, 'intrinsic transcendental experience' suggested that two essential themes of spiritual experience were closely interrelated in a mutual cyclical relationship. Based on the results, We discusses the major intervention plan for the recovery drug addicts that the social welfare system can consider.

  • Recently, as underground facilities buried under roads in Korea are aging, the amount of underground facility maintenance work is rapidly increasing. For the maintenance and management of such underground facilities, the cutting work of the road pavement should be preceded. However, the conventional road pavement cutters used in Korea are not eco-friendly, and the reality is that they generate a lot of noise and cutting sludge (scattering dust). Therefore, in this study, the concept of the cutting sludge recovery device was derived, and an eco-friendly pavement cutter including this function was designed and manufactured. The developed equipment took about 20 to 30 seconds to cut 1m to a depth of 100 to 150mm. Also, the sludge suction performance was good in most sections, and the noise level of the equipment briefly measured at a distance of 2m was 82.7dB on average. However, due to the limitation that the developed equipment was at the level of the first prototype, the driving stability was somewhat low, and equipment abnormalities such as engine shutdown and sludge recovery performance decreased in some cases. The cutting performance and sludge recovery function will be more stable through tuning and improvement of the developed prototype in the future. In addition, we plan to quantitatively compare and analyze productivity by applying the improved prototype to actual field conditions.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand the experiences in the transplantation coordinators' practice. Method: Data was collected through a tape-recorded in-depth interview from nine participants who were transplantation coordinators of their hospitals. It was analyzed using the phenomenological method proposed by Colaizzi(1978). Results: From significant statements, six categories of themes were integrated into the essential structure of the experiences of transplantation coordinators. Six categories of themes were 'continue to be professional during dash this way and rush that', 'burden due to persistent heavy work', 'the uniqueness in family care of the brain-dead patients', 'support of family and a professional group', 'worthiness and achievement of the patients' recovery', and 'establishment of self-confidence as a coordinator'. Conclusion: Although the transplantation coordinators played various roles, they had a conflict in role identity due to poor working environments. The results of this study suggested that development of an educational program, an increase in understanding for the coordinators' role, and institutional support for better working conditions are needed to get professional acknowledgement for transplantation coordinators.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose a theoretical model of hope commonly held by the cancer patients just after surgery, under the assumptions that hope of those patients is not only realistic and disease oriented but in dialectical circulation. Method: A theoretical model was generated through 4 steps: exploring a hope structure by synthesizing the relevant hope structures expressed in Kim and Tae's studies, in-depth literature review, examining the meanings of the concepts consisted of the structure in use and their causal relations in logical adequacy, proposing a theoretical structure through synthesizing the causal relations, and diagramming the structure. Results: The proposed theoretical model involves concepts such as Cancer Related Uncertainty (CRU), Efforts to Find out the Possibility of Cure or Recovery (EFPCR), and Hopefulness or Hopelessness. The 'EFPCR' is stipulated as 'Behaviors Related to Looking for Evidences or Cues (BRLEC)' and 'Formation of Cognitive Schema (FCS)'. In the model, Hopefulness is directly influenced by 'CRU in low', which is affected by 'FCS in good' from the result of EFPCR started with 'CRU in increase' while 'CRU with increase' from the result from EFPCR has direct effect on Hopelessness. Conclusion: The theoretical model would be used to enhancing hope of the cancer patients in post-operation.
