  • This study addresses cracks and fracture problems in engineering structures that may cause significant challenges and safety concerns, with a focus on pressure vessels in nuclear power plants. Comprehensive parametric three-dimensional mixed mode fracture analyses for inclined and deflected nozzle corner cracks with various crack shape aspect ratios and depth ratios in nuclear reactor pressure vessels are carried out. Stress intensity factor (SIF) solutions are obtained using FRAC3D, which is part of Fracture and Crack Propagation Analysis System (FCPAS), employing enriched finite elements along the crack front. Also, improved empirical equations are developed to allow the determination of mixed mode SIFs, KI, KII, and KIII, for any values of the parameters considered in the study. This study provides practical solutions to assess the remaining life and fail-safe conditions of nuclear reactors by providing accurate SIF determination.

  • As the speed of technological changes increase with the investment requirements steadily expanding, private firms and government-funded research institutes experience similar pressures with respect to the necessity of risk reduction and technological alliances in R&D activities. This paper first attempts to review previous research in managing R&D projects with large, risky, and long-term investment requirements. Our primary focus is placed on the "fuzzy front-end" (FFE) projects with uncertainties at the investigation and planning stages. We analyze various elements that create FFE conditions, classify them into basic constructs, and suggest tools and methods to deal with FFE conditions. The findings suggest that both initial FFE conditions and the effectiveness of FFE management affect the performance of the project later on, and thus, especially for large projects, we must deal with FFE seriously in a comprehensive manner. We utilize in-depth panel interviews and case studies to approach the research questions.

  • This study conducted in-depth interviews with 8 ICT companies experienced in technology transfer and collaboration with government-funded research institutions, employing Grounded Theory methodology. From these interviews, 139 episodes were extracted and categorized into 29 sub-categories across the companies. Validation by independent coders further classified these into 5 categories: potential absorptive capacity, realized absorptive capacity, technology collaboration activities, technology collaboration performance, and innovation intermediaries. The validation results suggest that companies with higher absorptive capacity are more actively involved in technology collaboration. Moreover, companies utilizing innovation intermediaries demonstrate increased collaboration frequencies. The study contributes to academia and industry by providing insights for companies to improve competitiveness and foster smooth technology collaboration, enhancing collaborative outcomes. Future research should focus on quantitatively validating these findings.

  • The purpose of this study was to establish the concept of self-management in beauty service experts through two integrated research methods of open-ended questionnaires and focus group interview. For data collection, an open-ended questionnaire was conducted for 151 beauty service experts located in Seoul·Gyeonggi-do, and a focus group interview was conducted with 8 experts in beauty experts to collect data. Accordingly, the results derived through a series of research procedures are as follows. First, as a result of the inductive content analysis of the open questionnaire, the self-management of beauty service experts was derived into four types of intellectual management: health management, interpersonal management, appearance management, and technology management. Second, in the results of the focus group interview, the inductive content analysis was more validly supported, and the beauty service field-centered interview cases were dealt with in-depth, resulting in two additional attributes of contactless management and knowledge management. The results of this study can be used as basic data for establishing strategies for life as a successful professional of beauty service workers and developing self-management measurement tools for beauty service experts.

  • Due to the revision of the River Act and the enactment of the Act on the Investigation, Planning, and Management of Water Resources, a regular bed change survey has become mandatory and a system is being prepared such that local governments can manage water resources in a planned manner. Since the topography of a bed cannot be measured directly, it is indirectly measured via contact-type depth measurements such as level survey or using an echo sounder, which features a low spatial resolution and does not allow continuous surveying owing to constraints in data acquisition. Therefore, a depth measurement method using remote sensing-LiDAR or hyperspectral imaging-has recently been developed, which allows a wider area survey than the contact-type method as it acquires hyperspectral images from a lightweight hyperspectral sensor mounted on a frequently operating drone and by applying the optimal bandwidth ratio search algorithm to estimate the depth. In the existing hyperspectral remote sensing technique, specific physical quantities are analyzed after matching the hyperspectral image acquired by the drone's path to the image of a surface unit. Previous studies focus primarily on the application of this technology to measure the bathymetry of sandy rivers, whereas bed materials are rarely evaluated. In this study, the existing hyperspectral image-based water depth estimation technique is applied to rivers with vegetation, whereas spatio-temporal hyperspectral imaging and cross-sectional hyperspectral imaging are performed for two cases in the same area before and after vegetation is removed. The result shows that the water depth estimation in the absence of vegetation is more accurate, and in the presence of vegetation, the water depth is estimated by recognizing the height of vegetation as the bottom. In addition, highly accurate water depth estimation is achieved not only in conventional cross-sectional hyperspectral imaging, but also in spatio-temporal hyperspectral imaging. As such, the possibility of monitoring bed fluctuations (water depth fluctuation) using spatio-temporal hyperspectral imaging is confirmed.

  • In this study, the Pine & Gilmore(1998) and Schmitt(1999, 2003), based on previous studies. Recent trends in large department stores and distribution outlets, discount stores and large retail centers, such as the consumer's experience is divided into internal and external fashion brand stores navigation study. Fashion Brand Stores are defined as the inside of the fashion brand store of the form that sells only the products of a fashion company's brand. Meanwhile, shopping center is defined as all the places at the inside and out of the shopping center excluding the inside of the fashion brand store. Likewise, definitions are clarified as such for use. As for the research method for this study, semi-structured focus group interviews were used since they could provide many more data compared to in-depth interviews. Accordingly, data was collected while carrying out free discussions while two to three subjects listened to each other's opinion regarding the key words raised by the interviewer and while thinking about their experience at the inside and outside of the fashion brand stores. As for the subjects, female consumers between the ages of 20 and 50 were targeted, and the interviews conducted with four, seven, four and three women in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s, were used, respectively. • Multi-view 3D displays based on a limited number of pixels have the problem that the stereo-scopic image has a low resolution because of increasing view number. To solve the problem of low resolution, we propose an optical approaching method that focuses the width of a unit pixel by using a commercial spherical shape lenticular lens sheet and increases the effective resolution by increasing the number of sources of light in the multi-view 3D display system based on projection type. The method was performed in such an order that several main derivable parameters were defined, and, through the theoretical and experimental result, the value of the contractible unit pixel width and the scalable effective resolution was derived in a given system environment. As a result, for the case that the ray of light from the projector transmitted the 25 LPI lenticular lens sheet which has the pitch size 1.016 mm, the focused unit pixel width was 0.19 mm and the scalable effective resolution was, at most, 5 times wider than the original one. In addition, the range of depth of focus was 1.496 mm, which shows us the range of thickness tolerances of commercial spherical shape lenticular lens sheet and sufficient optical alignment tolerances.
