  • The purpose of the study is not only to establish experimental system for laser chemical vapor deposition but also to find the characteristics of SiC rod growth that is the beginning step in developing technology of 3 dimensional prototyping with laser chemical vapor deposition. In this study, SiC rod was generated with varying TMS pressure for 5 minutes. Deposition rates with varying TMS pressure, shapes of rods, surface roughness and component organization were investigated, in particular.

Characterization and Application of DLC Films Produced by New Combined PVD-CVD Technique

  • A new advanced combined PVD/CVD technique of DLC film deposition has been developed. Deposition of a DLC film was carried out using a pulsed carbon arc discharge in vapor hydrocarbon atmosphere. The arc plasma enhancing CVD process promotes dramatic increase in the deposition rate and decrease of compressive stress as well as improvement of film thickness uniformity compared to that obtained with a single PVD pulsed arc process. The optical spectroscopy investigation reveals great increase in radiating components of $C_2$ Swan system molecular bands due to acetylene molecules decomposition. AFM, Raman spectroscopy, XPS and nano-indentation were used to characterize DLC films. The method ensures obtaining a new superhard DLC nano-material for deposition of protective coatings onto various industrial products including those used in medicine.

  • A prediction model of charge concentration of silicon nitride (SiN) thin films was constructed by using neural network and genetic algorithm. SIN films were deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition and the deposition process was characterized by means of $2^{6-1}$ fractional factorial experiment. Effect of five training factors on the model prediction performance was optimized by using genetic algorithm. This was examined as a function of the learring rate. The root mean squared error of optimized model was 0.975, which is much smaller than statistical regression model by about 45%. The constructed model can facilitate a Qualitative analysis of parameter effects on the charge concentration.

  • Fused deposition modelling(FDM) is a rapid prototyping(RP) process that fabricates part layer by layer by deposition of molten thermoplastic material extrude from a nozzle. RP system has many benefit. One of the benefit would be the ability to experiment wiか physical objects of my complexity in a relatively short period of time. But it has a matter of surface roughness and geometric accuracy. We study on Influence of angle of tangent line and area error on sphere surface roughness at fused deposition.

  • The electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technique have been applied to fabricating superconducting films and wires in former researches of our Lab. However, the particles of EPD films were usually deposited random1y on the metal substrate, the vertically combined a.c and d.c fields were applied to the EPD electrodes for orienting and densifying the particles of high $T_{c}$ superconducting deposition film on the substrate metal. Therefore, the surface states of EPD films by this combined fields could be oriented and affect to the electric properties increasing of superconducting films. The proposed method modified by a.c. assisted field to the conventional electrophoresis system was suitable to obtain improved properties with particle oriented deposition and densification.

  • In this paper, Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) modeling using Polynomial Neural Networks (PNN) has been introduced. The deposition of SiO2 was characterized via a 25-1 fractional factorial experiment, was used to train PNNs using predicted squared error (PSE). The optimal neural network structure and learning parameters were determined by means of a second fractional factorial experiment. The optimized networks minimized both learning and prediction error. From these PNN process models, the effect of deposition conditions on film properties has been studied. The deposition experiments were carried out in a Plasma Therm 700 series PECVD system. The models obtained will ultimately be used for several other manufacturing applications, including recipe synthesis and process control.

  • The design and fabrication of photoelectrochemical (PEC) electrodes for efficient water splitting is important for developing a sustainable hydrogen evolution system. Among various development approaches for PEC electrodes, the chemical vapor deposition method of atomic layer deposition (ALD), based on self-limiting surface reactions, has attracted attention because it allows precise thickness and composition control as well as conformal coating on various substrates. In this study, recent research progress in improving PEC performance using ALD coating methods is discussed, including 3D and heterojunction-structured PEC electrodes, ALD coatings of noble metals, and the use of sulfide materials as co-catalysts. The enhanced long-term stability of PEC cells by ALD-deposited protecting layers is also reviewed. ALD provides multiple routes to develop improved hydrogen evolution PEC cells.

  • In recent, the concept of system-on-package (SOP) for highly integrated multifunctional systems has been paid attention to for the miniaturization and high frequency of electronic devices. In order to realize SOP, co-integration of passive devices, such as capacitors, resistors and inductors, and active devices should be achieved. If ceramic thick films can be grown at room temperature, we expect to be able to overcome many problems in conventional fabrication processes. So, we focused on the aerosol deposition method (ADM) as room temperature fabrication technology. ADM is a novel ceramic coating method based on the Room Temperature Impact Consolidation (RTIC) phenomena. This method has a wide range potential for fabrication of co-integration of passive and active devices. In this paper, I will present the future potential of ADM introducing various ceramic dielectric thick films for the integration of electronic ceramics.

대면적화된 마이크로파 플라즈마를 이용하여 실리콘 웨이퍼에 증착한 다결정 실리콘의 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Polysilicon Films Deposited on Silicon Wafers with Enlarged Microwave Plasma)

  • Semiconductor industry requires the development of new technology such as 300 mm technology, suitable for manufacturing the next generation dervices. A promising process for realizing 300 mm technology can be achieved by using enlarged microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition (MWCVD) technology. In this work, we used radial line slot antenna for enlarging microwave plasma area, and carried ut the deposition of polysilicon films using enlarged MWCVD for the first time in Korea. The results was as follows. Deposited polysilicon films showed various degrees of crystallinity as well as epitaxy to silicon substrates even at low temperature of $300^{\circ}C$. Deposition rates also controled crystallization behavior and slo deposition rates showed very high crystallinity. It could be said that enlarged MWCVD system and technology was worth to get attraction as one os future technologies for 1 G DRAM era.

관거 내 고형물 퇴적량 산정식 개발 (Development of Estimation Equations for Solid Deposition in Sewer Systems)

  • 건기에 합류식 관거 내에 퇴적된 고형물은 우기에 재부상하여 초기부하(first-flush) 현상의 주된 원인이 되고 있으며, 이러한 고형물의 퇴적으로 인해 관거 내 통수능이 감소하여 도시지역의 국지적인 내수침수가 발생하고 있다. 이와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 장기간에 걸친 관거 내 고형물 퇴적량을 관측할 필요가 있으나 많은 비용과 노력이 수반되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 MOUSE 모형에 의해 산정된 결과로부터 고형물 퇴적량을 산정하기 위한 회귀식의 개발 및 적용성을 검토하였다. 분석 결과 관거 내 퇴적고형물의 관측 자료가 구비되어 있지 않아 실질적으로 비교하기는 곤란하지만 MOUSE 모형이나 EPA(미환경보호청)에서 제시한 공식을 이용하여 산정한 결과와 비교해 볼 때 본 연구에서 개발된 산정식은 적용성이 있음을 보여주고 있다.
