The electric power industry throughout the world is undergoing considerable changes from the vertically integrated utility structure to the deregulated market. However, the deregulated electricity market is operated with respect to theory of economical efficiency, and therefore, the system operator requires data with fast contingency ranking for security of the bulk power system. This paper presents fast calculation method for determining contingency ranking using the weather dependant probabilistic risk index(PRI). The probabilistic risk index can be classified into normal weather and adverse weather. This paper proposes calculation method using the probabilistic risk index in determining contingency ranking requiring for security under the deregulated electricity market.

A new algorithm for determining noise level is proposed for more reliability in interpreting spectral data for complex Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTICR) mass spectra of petroleum. In the new algorithm, a moving window with a fixed number of data points was adopted, instead of a fixed m/z width. In the analysis of petroleum, it was found that a moving window of 50,000 or more data points was optimal. This optimized automated peak picking performed well even with frequency-dependant noise in the mass spectrum. Additionally, this fast, automated peak picking algorithm was suitable for the analysis of a large set of samples.

We present an ongoing study of the complete sample of supernova remnants (SNRs) and candidates in the Magellanic Clouds. 108 objects in both Clouds are considered to be either SNR or reliable candidates. This represents the most complete sample of all known SNRs in any galaxy. It therefore allows us to study SNR population properties such as the age-diameter (Age-D) relation. Here, we show that this Age-D relation is strongly dependant on the local environment in which SNRs are residing.

한국어 부분 구문분석의 단위인 말덩이(chunk)는 하나의 의미적 중심어를 가지며, 그 구문구조가 선형인 구를 말하며, 말덩이를 분석하는 과정을 구묶음(chunking)이라고 한다. 한국어 말덩이에는 여러 종류가 있으며 보조용언도 말덩이의 한 종류이다. 이 논문은 (한국해양대학교, 2005)의 연구를 바탕으로 오류를 자주 발생시킨 의존명사를 포함하는 보조용언에 대한 명확한 기준을 제시하여 구축된 말뭉치의 신뢰성을 더욱 높이고자 한다. 이 논문에서는 모든 의존명사를 포함하는 보조용언을 다루기에는 더 많은 연구가 필요하므로 "것", "바", "때문", "데" 등의 의존명사를 포함하는 보조용언을 구성하는 말덩이를 중심으로 명확한 기준을 언어학적인 방법으로 제시하고 말뭉치 구축 오류를 방지할 수 있는 해결방안을 모색한다.

The precast concrete deck is one of suitable solutions for replacement and new construction in urban area. However, the precast concrete deck could be a weak point of the steel plate girder bridges structurally due to the connections between precast panels in the longitudinal direction. Thereafter, it is necessary for improvement of durability and load carrying capacity to introduce the prestress force in the longitudinal direction Some cracks of connections at the precast concrete deck may be occurred due to live loads, the difference of temperature and long-term effects. The shrinkage and creep of concrete may significantly affect long-term behaviors which occur tensile stresses at the precast concrete deck of steel plate girder bridges. In this study, the time-dependant analysis program has been developed to determine the initial prestress force in the longitudinal direction considering loss of stress at the precast concrete deck. Also it has been estimated the initial prestress force by construction stages and shapes of girder.

Considerable research has concentrated on medium-range production planning model in that it can contain long and short-term decision making in contents. Since medium-range production planning deals in situations with setup time or/and costs, solution methodology is classified by (1) optimization method using a sort of integer programming approach and network formulation (2) heuristic method offering an computationally easy, approximate solution. But, solution methodology is different in type of demand generation, existence of capacity and dependant demand. Therefore this paper reviewed the medium range production planning according to above mentioned three factors, and suggested for further work direction.

This paper describes frequency response and propagation characteristics considering semiconducting screen in distribution cables. In CIGRE WG 21-05, Simplified Approach(SA) and Rigorous Approach(RA) which can revise the permittivity considering semiconducting screen propose for more detailed EMTP model and frequency dependant analysis. In this paper, the frequency dependent characteristics of complex permittivity are variously analysed by cole-cole function of RA. The attenuation, propagation velocity and surge impedance according to frequency range(1 kHz to 500 MHz) and cable length are also analysed by SA and EMTP simulation in distribution cables. The propagation velocity considering semiconducting screen is slower, and it is saturated over the range of 1 MHz. The signal is significantly attenuated as frequency range is high.

Abstract - An electronic starter using MOSFET has been designed to take advantage of ideal preheating and starting features which can extend the lifetime of fluorescent lamps. The preheating circuit of the developed electronic starter is consisted of four parts - afull-wave rectifier circuit, an FET switching circuit a timer circuit for the gate switching, and a circuit for end-of-life protection. The circuit is analyzed by using PSpice simulation, and is improved to give an appropriate starting-time through control of R-C time constant of the timer circuit. And the circuit is also provided with an end-of-life protection feature, which utilizes the negative resistance characteristics of a thermistor that is thermally linked to FET through a heatsink. This also protects the FET from any overheating problems. From the results of simulation it is possible to obtain an appropriate value on the starting time for proper ignition and also it is verified that the limit for resistance of the thermistor is dependant on the value of resistance is the timer circuit

This study deals with the traffic accidents by weather condition. The objectives are to comparatively analyze the characteristics, and to develop the models of traffic accidents by weather condition. In pursuing the above, this paper gives particular attentions to testing the differences between two groups, and developing the models(Poisson and negative binomial regression) using the data of domestic circular intersections. The main results are as follows. First, three Poisson models and one negative binomial models which were all statistically significant were developed using the number of accident and EPDO by the clear weather and other as the dependant variables. Second, the differences between two models were comparatively analyzed using the chosen variables. This paper might be expected to give some implications to traffic safety policy-making to reduce and prevent the traffic accidents in circular intersections.

We fabricated the QCM with Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) film deposited at the different subphase pH and investigated the resonant frequency response by the injection of organic gas response. In the $\pi$-A isotherms, the monolayer on the air/water interface had different limiting area per molecule and showed more condensed status as increasing the subphase pH. When palmitic acid LB film was deposited on the QCM, the resonant frequency shift was proportional to the deposited layer and had more resonant frequency shift in the case of the higher pH range as expected. In the resonant frequency for the injection of organic gas, it has been improved in the case of LB film fabricated at the lower subphase pH range and dependant upon the molecular weight of organic gas.
