  • Purpose - This study examines the relationship between organizational justice and employee job satisfaction and the extent of its moderation by perceived alternative job opportunities. Research design, data, and methodology - This is a cross-sectional study utilizing survey questionnaire data from 220 bank employees, which included scales measuring organizational justice, job satisfaction, and perceived alternative job opportunities. Results - The data is analyzed using correlation and hierarchical regression. Results demonstrated that organizational justice has a direct positive impact on employee job satisfaction further, distributive justice explains more variance in job satisfaction, followed by procedural justice and interactive justice. Perceived alternative job opportunities moderate the relationship between organizational justice and job satisfaction. Conclusions - Generally, organizational justice increases bank employees' job satisfaction; however, when they perceived more job opportunities, their job dissatisfaction increased notwithstanding fairness. Therefore, perceived job opportunities moderate the relationship between organizational justice and job satisfaction. Retaining skilled employees has become difficult, especially when there is market demand for skilled workers. Human resource (HR) managers should consider market situations before formulating policies; otherwise, they may lose the competitive advantage of skilled employees and workers.

  • Purpose - This research is intended to suggest ways to enhance customers' satisfaction with service recovery. For this purpose, this study investigated the relationships among perceived justice (distributive, procedural, interactional justice) of service recovery efforts, perceived authenticity of service recovery efforts, the intention to follow advice, and the satisfaction with service recovery. Research design, data, and methodology - This research developed a structural equation model in which the perceived justice (distributive, procedural, interactional justice) and the perceived authenticity are predictors, the satisfaction with service recovery is a dependent variable, and the intention to follow advice is a moderator between the perceived justice (distributive, procedural, interactional justice) and the satisfaction with service recovery. Data were collected from visitors of fast food restaurants in Seoul, Gyeonggi province, and Kangwon province. A total of 330 questionnaires were distributed and 295 responses were collected indicating a response rate of 89.3%. After deleting data having missing value, 288 samples were used for analysis. SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 were used to test the reliability, validity, model fit, and hypotheses. Results - Empirical results showed that perceived justice, perceived distributive justice, and perceived authenticity had a positive influence on the satisfaction with service recovery. These results indicated that the more highly customers perceived the justice, distributive justice and the authenticity of service recovery efforts, the more they were satisfied with service recovery. And these influences were moderated by the intention to follow advice. Specifically, influences of the perceived justice, the perceived distributive justice, and the perceived authenticity on the satisfaction with service recovery were bigger for people with high intention to follow advice than people with low intention to follow advice. Conclusions - This research contributed to the service recovery literature by showing how perceived justice (distributive, procedural, interactional justice) and perceived authenticity influence satisfaction with service recovery. Moreover, current study introduced the intention to follow advice as moderator of this influence and revealed the moderation role of the intention to follow advice between the perceived justice (distributive, procedural, interactional justice) and the satisfaction with service recovery. Managerially, these results suggested retailing companies some ways to recover from service failure.

  • This study is focused on the factors that reduce the high turnover rate of early childhood teachers against the backdrop of their poor work environment including long hours, work overload and low wage by identifying the effects of three sub-factors of justice on the collectivistic tendency and those of the job burnout on their turnover intention. To conduct this study, a survey was carried out childcare teachers of the Seoul and Metropolitan Area. Total of 283 valid female questionnaires were collected and utilized for analysis. According to the analysis, both procedural justice and interpersonal justice have positive effects on the collectivistic tendency and decrease the turnover intention. The interpersonal justice decreases the job burnout, whereas the distributive justice statistically significantly increases the job burnout. Also, the collectivistic tendency reduces the turnover intention. The job burnout increases the turnover intention, which is consistent with previous studies. Hence, increasing the interpersonal justice and the collectivistic tendency could be an option for dealing with the issue.

  • This study was intended to examine the mediating roles of trust in CEO and supervisor on the relationships between organizational justice and employee behaviors. Data were collected from 4,055 employees across 18 different companies in Korea. Employees were asked to answer on a self-reported questionnaire. The two dimensions of organizational justice (i.e. procedural justice and distributive justice) were used. Employee behaviors were measured using counter-productive behavior and organizational citizenship behavior. Data were analyzed using a structural equation model. The hypothesized fully mediated model better fitted the data. Relative to distributive justice, procedural justice was more strongly related to both trust in CEO and trust in supervisor. But there were no significant differences in the degree of relationships between the two dimensions of trust and the two types of employee behaviors. These results showed that procedural justice is more important in enhancing trust in leader.

  • Purpose - In this study, we aimed to theorize blockchain-based social media platform users' commitment by examining the impact of their perceived justice of the token reward system. In addition, this study applied psychological ownership theory to verify the underlying mechanism between users' perceptions of justice and their commitment to the platforms. Research design, data, and methodology - To empirically test our conceptual framework in the study, we collected data through a web-based survey approach from the responses of 385 users who had experience with blockchain-based social media platforms. We employed a structural equation modeling approach to empirically test our proposed hypotheses. Result - The results indicated that distributive justice and informational justice have positive effects on user commitment. The results also showed that psychological ownership plays an important role in mediating the relationship between users' sense of distributive justice and commitment, and between procedural justice and commitment. The findings provided a better understanding of the sense of justice and user commitment in a blockchain-based social media environment. Conclusion - This study represents a preliminary attempt to theorize and empirically examine blockchain-based social media platform users' commitment. This study provided important contributions to the literature on how the effect of users' sense of justice in a reward system affects their commitment to blockchain-based social media platforms.

Research design, data, and methodology - 2(social relationship central versus peripheral) between-subjects design was employed. 50 participants for each experimental group there were. Participants of each group took forceful steps in choosing one between the procedural justice-focused alternative and the distribution justice-focused alternative. χ2-analysis was used to verify that the number of choosing each alternative becomes different between the two experimental groups, and a one way ANOVA was used to verify that the extent to which participants are satisfied to the alternative chosen by them becomes different between the two groups. Results - The number of participants choosing procedural justice-focused alternative at the group of social relationship central was larger than that at the group of social relationship peripheral, whereas the number of participants choosing distribution justice-focused alternative at the group of social relationship peripheral was larger than that at the group of social relationship central. And the level of satisfaction to procedural justice-focused alternative at the group of social relationship central was higher than that at the group of social relationship peripheral, whereas the level of satisfaction to distribution justice-focused alternative at the group of social relationship peripheral was higher than that at the group of social relationship central. In addition, the level of satisfaction to interaction justice-focused alternative was not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusions - Marketers should give attention to the type of justice when developing alternatives by which consumers' service failure can be recovered. They should suggest procedural justice-focused alternative to consumers under social relationship central, whereas they should develop distribution justice-focused alternative for consumers under social relationship peripheral. A survey was conducted to examine the role of moderating effect of pay system on the responses of 218 employees. sex, education, status, and service type were chosen as control variable, and the regression model which treated the distributive justice and procedural justice as independent variable was set. A pay system was supposed as moderating variable of the relation between organizational justice and pay level satisfaction, In addition the pay system have a dummy variable (if pay system is lower than the average, pay system is 0, else pay system is 1). The result showed that the relation of organizational justice and pay level satisfaction are significantly unique. This means that pay system moderates the relation of organizational justice and pay level satisfaction. These results are different from the prior researches which had treated pay system as mediative variable of organizational justice and pay level satisfaction. This difference may be from the property of attitude variable. For example, pay satisfaction is individual-based attitude.
