치과위생사의 핵심역량이 직무성과에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Dental Hygienists' Core Competencies on Job Performance)

  • 2016년 7월 23일부터 5개월간 부산광역시에 소재한 대학병원치과, 치과병 의원 및 보건소에 근무하는 치과위생사 123명을 대상으로 치과위생사의 핵심역량과 직무성과의 수준과 관련성을 파악하고, 직무성과에 영향을 미치는 핵심역량을 알아보고자 실시하였다. 본 연구대상자의 핵심역량 수준을 살펴보면 대인관계역량이 3.61점으로 가장 높았으며, 환자관리 및 교육역량이 3.59점, 조직관계역량이 3.57점, 기본치위생 관리역량이 3.56점 순으로 나타났다. 대상자의 직무성과에서는 상사가 요구한 일을 기일 내 마칠 수 있다가 3.93점으로 가장 높았으며, 다음으로 지각하지 않고 부주의로 타인에게 피해를 준 적이 없다가 3.76점으로 다음 순으로 나타났으며 상사가 책정해 놓은 목표치보다 초과달성 성과부분이 3.11점으로 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. 치과병원에 근무하는 집단이 치과의원에 근무하는 집단보다 직무성과가 높은 것으로 나타났으며(p=0.009), 핵심역량과 직무성과 간에는 0.733으로 높은 상관관계를 가졌다. 그리고 핵심역량이 직무성과에 미치는 관련 변수들을 파악하기 위해 분석한 결과는 대인관계역량(p=0.25), 자기조절역량(p=0.32), 기본치위생 관리역량(p=0.15)이 유의하게 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 살펴보면 치과위생사들의 역량을 강화시키는 것이 직무성과를 달성하는 데 기여할 수 있으며, 이는 궁극적으로 환자들에게 양질의 의료서비스 제공하고 병원조직의 성과 달성에도 도움이 될 것이다. 따라서 치과위생사의 전공역량과 직업기초능력을 골고루 겸비할 수 있도록 치위생(학)과 교육과 더불어 현재 활동 중이 치과위생사들의 역량강화 교육 프로그램이 다양한 방법으로 행정적, 교육적 제도 지원이 필요할 것이다.

일부지역 임상치과위생사의 전문직 자아개념과 조직사회화의 상관관계 (Correlation between the self-concept of clinical dental hygiene professionals and organizational socialization)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to review the correlation between self-concept and organization of socialization in professional settings among dental hygienists. Methods: Statistical analysis was carried out on the collected data to identify any correlation between frequency and percentages. Cronbach's alpha value and one-way ANOVA were conducted. SPSS 12.0 was used to conduct a correlation analysis on self-concept and socialization in professional settings. Validity of the research tools was also confirmed. Results: There was a correlation between the identity and job satisfaction, with the figures showing great variance. Satisfaction was correlated with the nature of the corporation and job performance. In addition, communication had a negative correlation between job characteristics and identities, job performance, while, organizational commitment and positive correlation showed a statistically significant difference. Conclusions: The study reviewed the impact on organizational socialization. The dental hygienist is believed to be on going research into developing more effective and systematic training programs so that they can be effectively socialized society organizations to improve the professional self-concept.

치위생과 학생의 비판적 사고 성향과 문제해결능력 (Critical Thinking Disposition and Problem-Solving Ability of Dental Hygiene Students)

  • 본 연구는 치위생과 학생의 비판적 사고성향과 문제해결능력 정도를 측정하고 이들 간의 관계를 규명하기 위해 시도한 연구이다. 2013년 4월에서 5월까지 부산과 울산 지역에 소재하는 3년제 치위생과 학생 649명을 연구대상으로 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 비판적 사고성향은 총 평점 5점 만점에 3.20점이었으며, 1학년, 학업성적이 높은 학생, 대인관계가 좋은 학생, 전공만족도와 임상실습만족도가 높은 학생, 임상실습경험이 없는 학생이 비판적 사고성향이 높았다. 문제해결능력은 총 평점 5점 만점에 3.06점으로 나타났으며, 문제해결능력은 학업성적이 높은 학생, 대인관계가 좋은 학생, 전공만족도와 임상실습만족도가 높은 학생이 높게 나타났다. 학생들의 비판적 사고성향과 문제해결능력도 순 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 비판적 사고성향에 영향요인은 문제해결능력, 대인관계, 전공만족이며, 문제해결능력에 영향요인은 비판적 사고성향, 학업성적으로 나타났다. 이와 같이 학업성적이 높은 학생, 대인관계가 좋은 학생, 전공만족도와 임상실습만족도가 높은 학생이, 비판적 사고성향과 문제해결능력이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 문제 중심의 학습이나 근거 중심의 치위생과정 등의 다양한 교수학습 전략과 교육과정 개발을 통한 비판적 사고성향과 문제해결능력을 강화시킬 필요가 있다고 본다.

서울시 보육교사의 구강보건인식도 및 구강건강관리 행태 (Recognition and performance of preschool teachers on children's oral health in Seoul)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to investigate the recognition of the educators in preschool education institutions on children's oral health promotion. Methods : The subjects of this study included 918 preschool teachers who have been performing an oral health education program for children at preschool centers in Seoul. For this study, the survey was conducted from September 2008 to November 2008 through a questionnaire. Results : It has been found that 58.5% of the given preschool institutions have implemented an oral health promotion program and 99.1% of the respondents recognized the importance of the oral health. 53.9% of the respondents used sweets as a reward for good deeds. Regarding the behaviors of oral health promotion, the daily tooth-brushing and the implementation of a regular oral check-up accounted for 69.0% and 59.5% respectively. The subjects recognized that they have responsibility for the tooth-brushing instruction(91.6%) and provision of an oral inspection(78.3%). It has been also found that the case of performing the oral health program with older age and higher work experiences was significantly high(p<0.05). Conclusions : The recognition and performance of kindergarten teachers on children's oral health affects daily life and healthful living habits of children. Therefore oral health education program for the teachers has to be developed.

치과위생사의 감염관리 실천이 노출 예방에 미치는 영향 (Effect of infection control practice on exposure prevention of dental hygienist)

  • Objectives : In the field of dental hygiene, infections pose a serious problem. This issue has left many patients and dental staff exposed to microbes with potentially far-reaching effects. The purpose of this study was to find solutions which could improve Dental health policies and promote improved methods for the control of infections. This survey was conducted between March 3, 2008 and March 30, 2008, in the metropolitan area. The research was carried out in dental clinics and dental hygienists were surveyed through a questionnaire. Methods : Collected data was examined using the SPSS 14.0 program, using frequency, mean and standard deviation analysis, T-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's test and Duncan's test. Further analysis was given using Logistic Regression. Results : The Performance of Infection Control by dental hygienists in Dental Clinics was shown at $2.96{\pm}0.42$. Disinfection, sterilization and the wearing of masks is high at $3.65{\pm}0.64$, $3.64{\pm}0.65$. The perception of the importance of infection control is higher among dental hygienists than dentists. Of the dental hygienists surveyed, 83.9% were exposed to at least one accident while at work. Age and years of experience were important in relation to infection control practices. The rate of infections and the number of accidents experienced related to the dental hygienists performance of infection control. The performance of infection control is influenced by the dental hygienists own perceptions, and the perceptions of their dentists. The dental hygienist's working conditions and their beliefs related to infection control were shown to influence their performance of infection control practices. Conclusion : At the conclusion of this investigation, it was determined that systematic refresher training of infection control should be delivered through further education and various media. Dental health care workers should be encouraged to practice these action items presented in the training. For successful implementation of infection control in every dental health-care setting, it is highly demanded that effective safe-guard tools, strategic support and standardized action items against infection problems are developed.

임상실습 중 치위생학과 학생들의 감염관리에 대한 인식과 수행정도에 관한 연구 (The study of awareness and performance of Dental hygiene students for infection control during clinical training)

  • 본 연구는 임상실습을 경험한 치위생학과 학생들을 대상으로 임상실습지에서 치과감염관리에 대한 인식과 수행정도를 조사하여 병원내 감염을 최소화 시키고 교육과정개발과 교육프로그램을 마련할 때 감염관리 지침과 행동지침에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 시행하였다. 경북에 소재하는 4년제 대학에서 임상실습을 실제 경험한 치위생학과 학생을 대상으로 설문조사하였으며 치과의원, 치과병원, 대학병원이나 종합병원에 실습한 학생을 구분하여 각 실습지에 따른 치과감염관리에 대한 인식과 수행정도를 비교하였다. 연구결과 학생들은 감염방지에 대한 교육 경험자가 많았으나 실습지에 따라 감염방지관리의 수행정도는 대학병원이나 종합병원에서 높았으며 실습지에 따라 차이가 나타났다. 따라서 학생들이 임상실습시 감염관리에 대한 인식과 수행정도를 높이기 위해서는 감염관리 지침서를 제작하여 임상실습기관에 배부하고 담당자를 통해 관리하며 학교 측에서는 임상실습과 연계성 있는 감염관리 교육프로그램을 운영하여 체계적인 제도를 마련해야 할 것으로 생각된다.

플립러닝 기반의 임상치위생학 교육과정 개발 및 적용 사례연구 (A case study on the development and application of flipped learning based clinical dental hygiene curriculum)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to prove, through the design and operation of a teaching learning model for clinical dental hygiene and practice III, the effectiveness of the flipped learning PARTNER model. Methods: A professional council was formed, composed of three professors of dental hygiene and one professor of education; each member was an expert with a Ph.D. From December 2018 to February 2019. Results: Learning preferences for the clinical learning hygiene curriculum based on flip learning showed that it had higher accessibility than traditional teaching methods. Subjects' motivation to learn was improved through flip learning, their critical thinking ability was improved through active discussion and flip team discussion, and their self-directed learning ability was also improved. Participation increased through flipped learning, and subjects' skill abilities showed their highest score by improving their performance through the whole lecture. A high satisfaction of 4.54 out of 5 points was achieved. Conclusions: It was confirmed that the development and operation of a flipped learning-based clinical hygiene curriculum can provide an effective and satisfactory learning process.

일상활동구강영향지수(OIDP)를 이용한 교정환자의 구강건강관련 삶의 질과 만족도 평가 (Assessment of dental health related quality of life and satisfaction level in patients with orthodontic treatments using Oral Impact on Daily Performances (OIDP))

  • Objectives: This study is to assess the correlation of the changes in dental health-related quality of life before, during, and after orthodontic treatments in the patients. Methods: The self-administered survey was conducted in the patients who completed orthodontic treatments living in Seoul and metropolitan areas using Oral Impact on Daily Performances (OIDP) to identify the relevant factors. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics of variables, independent t-test, one way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. Results: From observations of OIDP before, during, and after orthodontic treatment, discomfort associated with three factors including physical, psychological and social ones showed the statistically significant increases during orthodontic treatment than before the treatment; whereas, it was dramatically dropped afterward. Multiple regression analysis to find the influential factors of satisfaction level on orthodontic treatment by setting before, during, and after OIDP as independent variables and satisfaction on orthodontic treatment as a dependent variable revealed that OIDP before orthodontic treatment and after orthodontic treatment significantly affected satisfaction on orthodontic treatment. Conclusions: The above analysis on the change in patients' dental health-related quality of life showed that the quality of life improved after the orthodontic treatment. Accordingly, patients' quality of life and satisfaction level on orthodontic treatment are expected to improve if they strive to maintain healthy dental health through orthodontic treatment.

치과위생사 수행업무에 관한 치과의사의 견해조사 (A survey of dentists' opinions on the performance of dental hygienists)

  • This study examined the opinions of dentists on dental hygienists' practice and attempted to use it as the basis for the revision and modification of the legal system associated with dental hygienists. The subjects of this study were a total 15 dentists, including two from Gyeonggi, two from Gangwon, two from Gyeongsang, two from Jeolla, two from Chungcheong, and two from Seoul, who were surveyed face-to-face. This study revealed that from the perspective of dentists, the most important job of dental hygienists was scaling, and the most difficult job was patient counseling and response. From the perspective of dentists, there is a difference between what the dental hygienists actually perform and what is legal, and there is a high need for change. The inclusion of dental hygienists in the category of medical personnel should be accomplished to cover the practice of dental care support, and dentists opinionated that it is appropriate for dental hygienists to be included in the category of medical personnel because they directly perform oral health-related procedures. A careful review of the dental hygienists' scope of work should be performed to ensure that revisions to the law are made in accordance with the dental hygienists' actual practice. Further, it is necessary to revise the Medical Law and include dental hygienists among the medical personnel and simultaneously revise the scope of work of dental hygienists to reflect the actual dental practice.

Analysis of Difference in Importance and Need for Basic Core Competence of Clinical Dental Hygienists

  • Background: The objective of this study is to investigate the needs and importance of basic core competencies required for future society by dental hygienists' viewpoints who are working in the clinical practices and to provide the fundamental data to develop the educational programs based on the competencies in the 21st century so as to enhance their working capability. Methods: A total of 38 questionnaires were used in this study, 3 questionnaires on the general characteristics (age, service years, main job functions) and those in 11 sub-factors of basic core competencies including 4 questionnaires on creativity, 3 on collaboration, 3 on communication, 3 on interpersonal relationship, 3 on problem-solving, 4 on resource control, 4 on self-control and development, 2 on vocational ethics, 3 on knowledge information utilization, 3 on global mind, and 3 on emotional intelligence. Self-reported survey was conducted in the dental hygienists who were working in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province and a total of 195 data were analyzed. Results: Vocational ethics, communication, and collaboration showed the highest on both importance and needs with 4.49 points and 4.34; 4.41 and 4.28; and 4.39 and 4.22, respectively, while global mind showed the lowest with 3.51 and 3.59. Upon Importance-Performance Analysis, 7 items were defined to require maintain the status including vocational ethics, communication, collaboration, interpersonal relationship, self-control, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving while 4 items with lower priority were resource control and development, knowledge information utilization, creativity, and global mind. Conclusion: Based on this study results that suggested the basic core competencies of dental hygienists in alignment with their jobs in the future society, competitive dental hygienists should be developed with the educational programs applied with these competencies.
