Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate the attitude and influencing factors toward basic life support in the dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 218 dental hygienists in Gwangju. The questionnaire consisted of the general characteristics of the subjects and attitude toward basic life support (BLS). The attitude included cognitive belief, behavioral components, and emotional components. The data were analyzed by independent t-test, one-way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis by using IBM SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The cognitive belief, behavioral component, and emotional components of attitude toward BLS had higher scores in those who were between 34-34 years old and had more than 10 years of career. Most of them worked in dental clinic and did not earn the BLS certificate. There were positive correlations between the cognitive belief, behavioral components, and emotional components toward BLS. By the regression analysis, cognitive belief toward BLS was positively associated with educational experience within a year, behavioral components, and emotional components. The behavioral components were associated with working between 5-10 years in dental clinic and the emotional components. Conclusions: The attitude toward BLS in the dental hygienists was low in cognitive belief, behavioral components, and emotional components. Therefore, BLS education must be expanded to the dental hygienists.

As life quality have grown today, People have been greatly interested in health. Moreover, new knowledge and concepts are being applied in the medical facility field and that makes the field expand constantly. Hereby, this research is a study on design elements of dental clinics and the research goals are to understand interior design of current dental clinics by investigation and analysis on furniture, closing materials, colors and so on, and to investigate esthetic and functional environments for dental clinics through analyzing upcoming trends of inner spaces of dental clinics. Background: Plastic waste generates pollutants in the process of incineration or landfilling, and accumulates in water or marine organisms, causing adverse effects on the environment and the human body. Recently, various eco-friendly oral hygiene products (Eco-OHPs) such as bamboo toothbrushes and biodegradable plastic toothbrushes have been developed. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the current level of awareness and purchasing status of eco-OHPs among adults who are interested in eco-friendly products. Methods: This study included adults aged >19 years who regularly visited eco-friendly shops and online sites; the online survey links were distributed during their visits to eco-friendly Internet cafés and companies. Of the 22 questions, seven assessed the participants' general characteristics, three assessed the general oral hygiene care products used, six assessed the level of awareness of Eco-OHPs, and six assessed the purchasing status of Eco-OHPs. Frequency analysis, chi-square test, and regression analysis were performed using SPSS software. Results: Among the respondents, 108 (51.4%) were aware of Eco-OHPs, and 79 (37.6%) had experience purchasing Eco-OHPs. The most common reason for not purchasing was the lack of information about related brands or products (74, 56.5%). The most common platform used in obtaining information was the Internet (general: 31.5%, eco-friendly: 46.3%), such as Social Network Service, Internet cafes, and blogs. The experience in purchasing Eco-OHPs was affected by whether the respondents recognized the possibility of contributing to environmental preservation, availability of vendors, product safety, and the number of eco-friendly products purchased. Conclusion: In order to expand the use of Eco-OHPs, various efforts such as promotion of eco-friendly characteristics, determination of related vendors, reliable analysis of product safety, and expansion of product experience opportunities are required.
Background: This study aims to improve dental hygiene education by investigating the relationship between metacognition, learning flow, and problem-solving abilities in dental hygiene majors. Methods: A survey was conducted on 2nd to 4th-year students from dental hygiene programs, with 132 responses analyzed. Data analysis involved t-tests and ANOVA to examine the differences in metacognition, learning flow, and problem-solving abilities based on the general characteristics. Multiple regression analysis was employed to investigate the factors influencing the dependent variable, which is problem-solving abilities. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS. Results: First, when comparing metacognition, learning flow, and problem-solving abilities based on the general characteristics of the study participants, statistically significant differences were observed in common factors such as major satisfaction, subjective academic performance, GPA (grade point average), and reason for major choice (p<0.05). Second, it was found that there is a significant positive correlation between metacognition, learning flow, and problem-solving abilities in dental hygiene students (r≥0.79, p<0.05). In other words, higher levels of metacognition and learning flow were associated with better problem-solving abilities. Third, factors influencing problem-solving abilities were identified, with both metacognition and learning flow having a statistically significant positive impact. It was also noted that metacognition had a greater influence on problem-solving abilities compared to learning flow (adjusted R2=0.815, p<0.05). Conclusion: To enhance the core competency of problem-solving abilities, it is essential to improve metacognition and learning flow. To enhance metacognition and promote learning flow, strategies such as goal setting, utilizing effective learning methods, boosting self-efficacy, managing the learning environment, choosing activities that foster immersion, stress management, self-assessment and feedback integration, improving focus, and utilization a variety of learning experiences will be necessary.
