MATERIALS AND METHODS. Ceramics have a long history in fixed prosthodontics for achieving optimal esthetics and various materials have been used to improve ceramic core strength. However, there is a lack of information on how color is affected by fabrication procedure. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of various dentin ceramic thicknesses and repeated firings on the color of zirconium oxide all-ceramic system (LavaTM) fabricated using CAD/CAM technology. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty disc-shaped cores, 12 mm in diameter with a 1 mm thickness were fabricated from zirconium oxide based all ceramic systems ($Lava^{TM}$, 3M ESPE, St Paul, MN, USA) and divided into three groups (n = 10) according to veneering with dentin ceramic thicknesses: as 0.5, 1, or 1.5 mm. Repeated firings (3, 5, 7, or 9) were performed, and the color of the specimens was compared with the color after the initial firing. Color differences among ceramic specimens were measured using a spectrophotometer (VITA Easyshade, VITA Zahnfabrik, Bad $S{\ddot{a}}ckingen$, Germany) and data were expressed in CIELAB system coordinates. A repeated measures ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc test were used to analyze the data (n = 10, ${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. $L^{\ast}a^{\ast}b^{\ast}$ values of the ceramic systems were affected by the number of firings (3, 5, 7, or 9 firings) (P<.001) and ceramic thickness (0.5, 1, or 1.5 mm) (P<.001). Significant interactions were present in $L^{\ast}a^{\ast}b^{\ast}$ values between the number of firings and ceramic thickness (P<.001). An increase in number of firings resulted in significant increase in $L^{\ast}$ values for both 0.5 mm and 1.5 mm thicknesses (P<.01, P=.013); however it decreased for 1 mm thickness (P<.01). The $a^{\ast}$ values increased for 1 mm and 1.5 mm thicknesses (P<.01), while it decreased for 0.5 mm specimens. The $b^{\ast}$ values increased significantly for all thicknesses (P<.01, P=.022). As the dentin ceramic thickness increased, significant reductions in $L^{\ast}$ values (P<.01) were recorded. There were significant increases in both $a^{\ast}$ and $b^{\ast}$ values (P<.01) as the dentin ceramic thickness increased. CONCLUSION. The number of firings and dentin ceramic thickness have a definite effect on the final color of all ceramic system tested. The mean ${\Delta}E$ value increased as the dentin ceramic thicknesses increased for zirconium-oxide based all ceramic specimens tested. However, the mean ${\Delta}E$ values were less than 3.7${\Delta}E$ units which is rated as a match in the oral environment.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the trueness and fitness of machined prostheses according to drill radius setting in CAD software. Methods: For this study, standard abutment were replicated in Type IV stone. The stone abutment were scanned using a dental scanner. The CAD design software was designed using scanned abutment data. When designing, the drill radius was set to 0.3 mm and 0 mm, respectively, and saved. The saved design data was milled using a milling machine (n=13). The inner surface of the milled crown was scanned. The trueness and fitness were measured using the inner scan data of prostheses. Independent t-tests were performed to identify significant differences in each data. Results: Trueness values of the data saved with 0.3 mm and 0 mm drill radius were $18.9{\pm}2.3{\mu}m$ and $19.1{\pm}0.9{\mu}m$, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups. Fitness values of the data saved with 0.3 mm and 0 mm drill radius were $65.5{\pm}0.8{\mu}m$ and $33.8{\pm}1.0{\mu}m$, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference between the groups (p<.05). Conclusion : Setting the drill radius is important to produce clinically good fit prostheses.
Application of ceramic materials for fabrication of dental restoration materials has been a focus of interest in the field of esthetic dentistry. The ceramic materials of choice are glass ceramics, spinel, alumina, and zirconia. The development of yttrium tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (YTZP)-based systems is a recent addition to all-ceramic systems that have high strength and are used for crowns and fixed partial dentures. Computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM)-produced, YTZP-based systems are popular with respect to their esthetic appeal for use in stress-bearing regions. The highly esthetic nature of zirconia and its superior physical properties and biocompatibility have enabled the development of restorative systems that meet the demands of today's patients. Many in vitro trials have been performed on the use of zirconia; however, relatively fewer long-term clinical studies have been published on this subject. The use of zirconia frameworks for long-span fixed partial dentures is currently being evaluated; in the future, more in vivo research and long-term clinical studies are required to provide scientific evidence for drawing solid guidelines. Further clinical and in vitro studies are required to obtain data regarding the long-term clinical use of zirconia-based restorations.

As patients' esthetic expectations increase, there is an increase in demand for cosmetic restorations of anterior and posterior teeth that resemble the natural tooth morphology and color. An example of high-strength all-ceramic systems is zirconia with CAD/CAM application. This case report describes a full-mouth rehabilitation using zirconia all-ceramic crowns supported by upper and lower implants and by a minimal increase in the occlusal vertical dimension in a patient with severe abrasion due to loss of posterior teeth.
PURPOSE. This study examined the effects of the abutment types and dynamic loading on the stability of implant prostheses with three types of implant abutments prepared using different fabrication methods by measuring removal torque both before and after dynamic loading. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Three groups of abutments were produced using different types of fabrication methods; stock abutment, gold cast abutment, and CAD/CAM custom abutment. A customized jig was fabricated to apply the load at $30^{\circ}$ to the long axis. The implant fixtures were fixed to the jig, and connected to the abutments with a 30 Ncm tightening torque. A sine curved dynamic load was applied for $10^5$ cycles between 25 and 250 N at 14 Hz. Removal torque before loading and after loading were evaluated. The SPSS was used for statistical analysis of the results. A Kruskal-Wallis test was performed to compare screw loosening between the abutment systems. A Wilcoxon signed-rank test was performed to compare screw loosening between before and after loading in each group (${\alpha}$=0.05). RESULTS. Removal torque value before loading and after loading was the highest in stock abutment, which was then followed by gold cast abutment and CAD/CAM custom abutment, but there were no significant differences. CONCLUSION. The abutment types did not have a significant influence on short term screw loosening. On the other hand, after $10^5$ cycles dynamic loading, CAD/CAM custom abutment affected the initial screw loosening, but stock abutment and gold cast abutment did not.

PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to compare the durability and retention of 4 types of attachments placed over computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) titanium bars when subjected to different pH conditions. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Four commercially available attachments were investigated: Hader Yellow, Hader Red, Ackerman Gold and Ackerman Stainless Steel. These attachments and Ackerman CAD/CAM titanium bars were placed in 2 vessels containing different artificial saliva solutions (pH 7/pH 4) at $37^{\circ}C$ for one month to simulate corrosion conditions, and they were then subjected to mechanical testing (5400 cycles of insertion and removal). RESULTS. The results revealed that there were significant differences in the average values of insertion/removal force due to the pH (F (1, 24)=9.207, P<.05) and the type of attachment (F (3, 24)=11.742, P<.05). CONCLUSION. More acidic pH values were found to have a negative influence on the retention capacity of the attachments.
Accurate acquisition of surface geometries such as machined surfaces, biological surfaces, and deformed parts and processing 3D object have been very important technique in scientific study and engineering, expecially for system design, manufacturing and inspection. Defective human teeth are usually ground to be coped with special alloy coping which is hand-made by dental technician. This make dental technician to be difficult and take a long time Dental CAD/CAM Systems consist of two parts, data acquisition and milling. In this paper, a method is studied to mill object which is acquired 3D geometric data of the small object such as a die in stone model. This paper present a control program and a mechanical system for milling 3D object.

PURPOSE. To evaluate the adhesion to CAD/CAM feldspathic blocks by failure analysis and shear bond strength test (SBSt) of different restorative systems and different surface treatments, for purpose of moderate chipping repair. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A self-adhering flowable composite (Vertise Flow, Kerr) containing bi-functional phosphate monomers and a conventional flowable resin composite (Premise Flow, Kerr) applied with and without adhesive system (Optibond Solo Plus, Kerr) were combined with three different surface treatments (Hydrofluoric Acid Etching, Sandblasting, combination of both) for repairing feldspathic ceramics. Two commercial systems for ceramic repairing were tested as controls (Porcelain Repair Kit, Ultradent, and CoJet System, 3M). SBSt was performed and failure mode was evaluated using a digital microscope. A One-Way ANOVA (Tukey test for post hoc) was applied to the SBSt data and the Fisher's Exact Test was applied to the failure analysis data. RESULTS. The use of resin systems containing bi-functional phosphate monomers combined with hydrofluoric acid etching of the ceramic surface gave the highest values in terms of bond strength and of more favorable failure modalities. CONCLUSION. The simplified repairing method based on self-adhering flowable resin combined with the use of hydrofluoric acid etching showed high bond strength values and a favorable failure mode. Repairing of ceramic chipping with a self-adhering flowable resin associated with hydrofluoric acid etching showed high bond strength with a less time consuming and technique-sensitive procedure compared to standard procedure.
Statement of the problem. The interest in all-ceramic restorations has increased as more techniques have become available. With the introduction of machinable dental ceramics and CAD/CAM systems or Copy-milling systems there is a need for evaluating the quality levels of these new fabrication techniques. Purpose. This study was to evaluate the fitting accuracy of machined all-ceramic crowns made out of an industrially prefabricated feldspathic porcelain. Material and Methods. Three master models with different cutting depth (0.8mm/1.0mm/1.2mm)were produced using a palladium-silver alloy. A total of 36 working dies, 12 of each form, was used for the modellation of prototype resin copings and 36 additional crowns, 12 of each cutting depth, were produced by using the $CEREC^{(R)}2$ system for all crowns. The maginal fit of all 72 crowns was then evaluated on their respective master die at 54 circularly staggered points of measurement per crown under a fixation pressure of 30 N by using a computerized video image system. Results. The medians of the copy-milled $CELAY^{(R)}$ crowns ranged from 29 to $36{\mu}m$. The highest value for the marginal gap was found in group B (cutting depth 1.0mm) at $107{\mu}m$. The median for the $CEREC^{(R)}2$ crowns was found between 43.5 and $70{\mu}m$. The maximum values for all three groups ranged from $181{\mu}m$ to $286{\mu}m$. With $286{\mu}m$ the highest value for marginal gap was found in group C. the Kruskal-Wallis test and multiple comparisons analysis procedure revealed a significant influence of the production technique on the marginal fit in all three groups (p<0,02). Conclusion. 1. The $CELAY^{(R)}$ system is capable to produce all-ceramic crowns with a significantly better marginal fit than the $CEREC^{(R)}2$ system. 2. As far as premolar crowns produced with the $CEREC^{(R)}2$ system are concerned, the cutting depth has a significant influence on fitting accuracy. 3. The production of crowns with an acceptable marginal fit is possible with both systems. However, adhesive luting is recommended for milled feldspathic porcelain crowns.
