In order to investigate the light curve difference in visual and infrared wavelength of ${\delta}$ Scuti variable Bo Lyn, observations were performed using BOAO 1.8m reflecting telescope and an infrared detector, KASINICS, with J, H, and Ks filters. Infrared light curves of total 7 nights were obtained between March and April in 2011, and those were compared to the V-filter light curve to examine the differences in period, time of maximum light, amplitude, and shape. From the periodic analysis of infrared light curve, a single frequency of $f_1=10.712cycle/day$, $P=0.09335{\pm}0.00002days$ was obtained, and there was no difference in the period along different wavelengths. In the infrared light curve, a frequency of $2f_1$ was detected. This frequency well explains the asymmetric shape of light curve, one of the characteristics of high-amplitude ${\delta}$ Scuti variables. We compared the locations of the measured infrared maxima and the predicted maxima of V-filter, finding that the times of maxima were delayed about 0.3 phase at infrared wavelengths. Amplitude ratios were adopted to be ${\Delta}J/{\Delta}V=0.328$, ${\Delta}H/{\Delta}V=0.216$, and ${\Delta}Ks/{\Delta}V=0.211$, with the range of variation being smaller at longer wavelengths. It seems that the differences in the times of maxima and amplitude occurred because the changes in brightness of a pulsating variable star are mainly caused by the change in temperature.
It is shown that a lattice distribution defined on a set of n lattice points $L(n,\delta) = {\delta,\delta+1,...,\delta+n-1}$ is a distribution induced from the distribution of convolution of independently and identically distributed (i.i.d.) uniform [0,1] random variables. Also the m-th moment of the lattice distribution is obtained in a quite different approach from Park and Chung (1978). It is verified that the distribution of the sum of n i.i.d. uniform [0,1] random variables is completely determined by the lattice distribution on $L(n,\delta)$ and the uniform distribution on [0,1]. The factorial mement generating function, factorial moments, and moments are also obtained.

In-plane tension fatigue tests (R = 0.05) were carried out to investigate the initiation and propagation behaviors of micro-surface-fatigue cracks on smooth surfaces of a mild steel. Also, the investigations of saturated cyclic strain which can be obtained by the fatigue tests have been made via the cyclic strain intensity factor, .DELTA. $K_{\epsilon}$/, for the purpose of unifying two approaches of the study of fatigue; the one approach is based on the fracture mechanics concept and the other on lowcycle fatigue concept. Some of the results are as follows; The growth rate, d(2a)/dN, of small cracks cannot be represented by one straight line as a function of .DELTA.K for various of the nominal stress range, .DELTA..sigma., and is higher than that of a larger through crack. The rearrangement of the d(2a)/dN by .DELTA..epsilon..root..pi.s( = .DELTA. $K_{\epsilon}$/) with the stress range .DELTA..epsilon. in .DELTA.K replaced by .DELTA..epsilon., strain range, gives one straight line of the .DELTA. $K_{\epsilon}$-d(2a)/dN relation for various values of stress range .DELTA.$_{\epsilon}$../.X>../.
PURPOSE. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the color changes of an autopolymerizing PMMA resin used for interim fixed restorations, reinforced with $SiO_2$ nanoparticles. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Silica nanoparticles were blended with the PMMA resin powder through high-energy ball milling. Four shades of PMMA resin were used (A3, B3, C3, D3) and total color differences were calculated through the equations ${\Delta}E_{ab}=[({\Delta}L*)^2+({\Delta}a*)^2+({\Delta}b*)^2]^{1/2}$ and ${\Delta}E_{00}=[(\frac{{\Delta}L^{\prime}}{K_LS_L})^2+(\frac{{\Delta}C^{\prime}}{K_CS_C})^2+(\frac{{\Delta}H^{\prime}}{K_HS_H})^2+R_T(\frac{{\Delta}C^{\prime}}{K_CS_C})(\frac{{\Delta}H^{\prime}}{K_HS_H})]^{1/2}$. Statistically significant differences between ${\Delta}E_{ab}$ and the clinically acceptable values of 3.3 and 2.7 and those between ${\Delta}E_{00}$ and the clinically acceptable value of 1.8 were evaluated with one sample t-test (P<.05). Differences among the different shades were assessed through One-Way ANOVA and Bonferroni multiple comparison tests. RESULTS. Significantly lower values were detected for all groups concerning ${\Delta}E_{ab}$ compared to the intraorally clinical acceptable values of 3.3 and 2.7. Significantly lower mean values were detected for groups B3, C3, and D3, concerning ${\Delta}E_{00}$ compared to the intraorally clinical acceptant value of 1.8. Color pigments in red-brown (A3) and red-grey (D3) shades affect the total color change to a greater extent after the reinforcement with $SiO_2$ nanoparticles compared to the red-yellow (B3) shade. CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of this in vitro study, it can be suggested that reinforcing PMMA with $SiO_2$ nanoparticles at 0.25 wt% slightly affects the optical properties of the PMMA resin without being clinically perceivable.
The oxygen and carbon isotopic compositions of the foraminiferal species, Elphidirm dtigoense and Ammonia beccarii tepida, of the tidal flat in the Gomso Bay of the western coast of Korea have been measured. This work was intended to study the relationship between oxygen and carbon isotopic compositions of the foraminifera and present oceanographic environments, and also the difference between two foraminiferal species. The values of $\delta$/SUP 18/O and $\delta$/SUP 13/C of E. dtigoense varied from - 3.20% to + 0.58% and from - 5.26% to - 0.93%, respectively. The values of $\delta$/SUP 18/O and $\delta$/SUP 13/C of A. beccarii tepida varied from - 1.11% to + 0.61% and from - 2.04% to - 1.40%, respectively. Mo significant variations in these values occur from the samples among the upper, middle and lower tidal zones except for the one from the upper tidal zone that has extremely low value. The difference between the two foraminiferal species was 0.20% and 1.63% in the average values of $\delta$/SUP 18/O and $\delta$/SUP 13/C, respectively. The relationship between $\delta$/SUP 18/O and $\delta$/SUP 13/C values was positive in interspecies of two species.
P $b_2$S $r_2$( $Y_{1-x}$ C $a_{x}$)C $u_3$$O_{8+}$$\delta$/ samples were prepared with x=0.4~0.6 and small $\delta$. To minimize the extent of oxidative decomposition reaction which occurs during the preparation of this phase, two annealing steps were adopted : First, sintered samples of P $b_2$S $r_2$( $Y_{1-x}$ C $a_{x}$)C $u_3$$O_{8+}$$\delta$/ are oxygenated under 100% $O_2$, which leads to a large $\delta$(e.g., $\delta$=1.8). Second, the resulting samples are deoxygenated under 0.1~1.0% $O_2$in $N_2$, lowering $\delta$ to desired values. This two-step annealing procedure minimized the extent of oxidative decomposition. However, even with the two-step annealing procedure, the oxidative decomposition of P $b_2$S $r_2$( $Y_{1-x}$ C $a_{x}$)C $u_3$$O_{8+}$$\delta$/ cannot be completely suppressed if $\delta$ is to be reduced to maximize $T_{c}$. Electrical resistivity data show that $T_{c}$(onset) is a function of hole concentration in the Cu $O_2$layer, and the optimum hole concentration for the maximum $T_{c}$ is achieved when $Ca^{2+}$is substituted for $Y^{3+}$between 0.5 and 0.6 A $T_{c}$(onset)=80K has been observed for one such sample, and this is the highest $T_{c}$(onset) yet reported for this compound.ed for this compound.nd.

Prostaglandin plays a significant role in the local control of bone metabolism associated with periodontal disease. ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ is a natural $PGD_2$ metabolite that is formed in vivo in the presence of plasma. It is known for ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ to stimulate calcification in osteoblastic cells. Bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) stimulated osteoblastic differentiation in various types of cells and greatly enhanced healing of bony defects. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of rhEMP-2 on ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ induced osteoblastic differentiation and mineralization in vitro. A human osteosarcoma cells line Saos-2 were cultured. In the test groups, 10-7M of ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ or mixture of 10-8M of ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ and 100ng/ml of rhBMP-2 or 100ng/ml of rhEMP-2 were added to culture media. After 1 day, 2 days and 4 days of culture period, the cell number was measured. Alkaline phosphatase activity was measure at 3 days. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) was performed to determine the expression of mRNA of bone matrix protein at 8 hours, 1 day and 7 days. The ability to produce mineralized nodules in rat osteoblasts(MC3T3-E1) was evaluated at 21 days. The results were as follows : 1. rhEMP-2 or mixture of rhBMP-2 and ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ inhibited cell proliferation of human osteosarcoma cells. 2. rhEMP-2 or mixture of rhBMP-2 and ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ stimulated alkaline phosphatase activity significantly higher than ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ alone. 3. rhBMP-2 or mixture of rhEMP-2 and ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ stimulated mineralization compared to ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ alone. 4. mRNA of alkaline phosphatase, BMP-2, cbfa 1, Type I collagen were detected in the group treated with ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$/rhBMP-2, rhBMP-2 alone, ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ alone. These results show that mixture of ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ and rhBMP-2 causes more bone formation than ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ alone while the bone formation effects of mixture of ${\Delta}^{12}-PGJ_2$ and rhBMP-2 are less than those of rhBMP-2 alone. Further researches would be necessary to clarify the interactions of these agents.
Rate of hydrolysis ethylene phosphate, dimethylphosphate and hydroxyethylmethylphosphate in neutral water have been measured. Hydrolysis of ethylene phosphate proceeds with P-0 bond cleavage $(k_{obs}=3{\times}10^{-7}s^{-1}\;at\;100^{\circ}C,\;{\Delta}H{\neq}=24\;kcal,\;{\Delta}S{\neq}=25.5\;eu)$. In constrast, hydrolysis of dimethylphosphate proceeds with C-O bond cleavage $(k_{obs}=3{\times}10^{-7}s^{-1}\;at\;150^{\circ}C)$. The rate constant for P-O bond cleavage of dimethylphosphate is estimated at $1{\times}10^{-11}s^{-1}\;at\;150^{\circ}C,\;({\Delta}H{\neq}=36\;kcal,\;{\Delta}S{\neq}=25.5\;eu)$. A phosphodiesterase catalyzed hydrolysis of dimethylphosphate is $10^{17}$ times faster than the simple water rate. The observed rate of hydrolysis of hydroxyethylmethylphosphate is comparable to that of dimethylphosphate indicating C-O bond cleavage $(k_{obs}=6{\times}10^{-7}s^{-1}\;at\;150^{\circ}C)$.

Meteorin in astrocytes has antiangiogenic activities via thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1), however, the regulatory mechanism has been unclear. Here we report that Meteorin upregulates TSP transcriptionally through luciferase reporter assays in astrocytes. Moreover, Meteorin activates $PKC\delta$ and ERK1/2 in astrocytes. Inhibition of $PKC\delta$ and ERK1/2 activities attenuated expression of TSP-1 by Meteorin in astrocytes. We, therefore, demonstrate that Meteorin activates $PKC\delta$ signaling and, in turn, increases TSP-1 expression in astrocytes to inhibit angiogenesis in the brain.
Kinetic studies on the reaction of isoquinoline with para-substituted benzylbromides were conducted under various pressures (1 ~1000 bar) in acetonitrile. From the rate constants obtained, the activation parameters such as$\DeltaV^{\neq}, \Delta\beta^{\neq}, \DeltaH^{\neq}, \DeltaS^{\neq}, \DeltaG^{\neq}$ and Ea were evaluated. Reaction rate increasing the pressure and temperature. The activation compressibility coefficient and the activation entropy showed negative values. From the substituent effect and the results, it was found that the reaction proceeds through $S_N2$ mechanism, but the structure of transition state was slightly changed with substituents and pressure.
