Integrating GIS, GPS, and Optimization Technologies for Pick-up/Delivery Service (소포 집배송 서비스를 위한 GIS, GPS 및 최적화 기술의 통합)

  • In this paper, we describe an intelligent monitoring and control system for pick-up/delivery service. This system applies geographical information system(GIS), global positioning system(GPS) and wireless communication technologies for managing pick-up/delivery operations more effectively. It consists of three subsystems, pick-up/delivery sequence planning system, pick-up/delivery monitoring system, and PDA execution system. Pick-up/delivery sequence planning system generates routes and schedules for pick-up/delivery using GIS and optimization techniques. Pick-up/delivery monitoring system monitors current positions of vehicles and actual pick-up/delivery results as compared with planned routes and visit times, while PDA execution system transmits information for vehicles positions and actual pick-up/delivery results using GPS and wireless communication technologies. The intelligent monitoring and control system is currently being used for the pick-up parcel service in a local post office of Korea Post.

  • In the recent a mobile internet makes a change in internet business. The mobile internet service is resulting in M-commerce. Even if M-commerce provides only information service, there will be much possibilities to make applications in various areas such as, delivery service, trading service, banking service etc. in the near future. Delivery service requires many steps in processing, originally. This study is designed to implement a mobile system which makes short in delivery process. It includes that a delivery man receives a signature on a paper and input data at the delivered place by using PDA at hand. The mobile system will be contributed to shorten delivery speed. It is proposed to implement the mobile office system for improving service efficiency in the business of delivery service.   • Effective information delivery between school and parents is very important in preschool and the lower classes of elementary school. It is because by the fact that the traditional method of information delivery relies on kids to deliver school information but they are not sufficiently matured enough to deliver information correctly. In this point of view, this paper proposes a new information delivery method combining internet homepage and mobile message services and develops a information delivery system to support that method. Proposed method and developed system are able to correctly deliver information within the desired time and they do not increase the burden of communication costs and teacher's works.

  • The study is devoted to the formation of a economic principles cargo delivery management in global supply chains. Mathematical model of delivering special categories of goods by road is a key element of these principles. The article analyzes the existing studies on solving the problem of cargo delivery in various aspects. It was noted that the greatest attention is paid to legal regulation, last mile delivery, optimization of routes and delivery schemes, information support, technological innovations, cluster routing, etc. In the developed mathematical model a minimum of total costs of forming loading units and freight shipments was defined as the criterion of optimality of organizing delivery by motor transport. The authors propose the creation of logistics clusters allowing the integration of urban transport flows and global supply chains.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm that enables near-field delivery at a faster and lowest cost to meet the growing demand for delivery services. The algorithm proposed in this study involves subway passengers (shipper) in logistics movement as delivery sources. At this time, the passenger may select a delivery logistics matching subway route. And from the perspective of the service user, it is possible to select a delivery man whose route matches. At this time, the delivery source recommendation is carried out in a text similarity measurement method that combines TF-IDF&N-gram and BERT. Therefore, unlike the existing delivery system, two-way selection is supported in a man-to-man method between consumers and delivery man. Both cost minimization and delivery period reduction can be guaranteed in that passengers on board are involved in logistics movement. In addition, since special skills are not required in terms of transportation, it is also meaningful in that it can provide opportunities for economic participation to workers whose job positions have been reduced.

  • Accidents at construction sites in Korea account for more than half of all industrial accidents. To solve this problem, a policy to strengthen safety education was implemented to ensure the safety of workers. However, it was analyzed that there is a high possibility of accidents because workers did not receive proper safety information for each risk factor due to general lecture-style education. In addition, statistics show that the accident status of workers with fewer years of period is high, indicating that a customized information delivery method needs to be proposed for unskilled workers with fewer years of period. Research on the importance of education has been conducted, but no information delivery method has been identified. For unskilled workers to effectively receive safety information, appropriate delivery formats (text, photos, illustrations, 4D-BIM, 360-based panorama, video, animation) were analyzed, and a new method of education was proposed. If customized safety information is provided according to this proposal, effective information delivery to unskilled workers will be possible, and it is expected to be verified in various ways.

  • The document delivery service has been influenced by the changing digital information environment and the copyright law. This paper proposes the key points for the improved documents delivery service through trend analysis of BL(The Great Britain), NLA(Australia), subito(German speaking countries), JST(Japan), KISTI(Korea) and KERIS(Korea) and copyright law in each country. The purpose of this study is providing with the clues for developing strategies that can satisfy the users' needs in document delivery service for libraries and information centers.

  • In the wake of COVID-19, more consumers prefer non-face-to-face services and the explosion in the use of delivery apps is shaping a new delivery culture. Meanwhile, in order to solve social problems such as platform monopoly of private delivery apps and increased brokerage fees, many municipalities are launching public delivery apps from 2020 onwards. However, consumers who are used for the existing private delivery apps are not aware of the public delivery apps and the utilization rate is low. In this study, we will look at the impact of sense of community and service quality (information quality, delivery quality) on the intend to use public delivery apps. Studies have shown that SOC and information quality have a significant impact on the attitude of using public delivery apps, but not delivery quality. In addition, the attitude of using public delivery apps has been shown to have a mediating effect on the relationship between SOC, information quality and public delivery app use intentions respectively. Therefore, to activate the public delivery apps, it was found that it is necessary not only to promote, but also to improve user convenience, such as product search and user review inquiry to improve information quality, along with efforts to strengthen the sense of local community.

The Coverage Area for Extended Delivery Service in Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC): A Case of Thailand Post Co., Ltd

  • Purpose: This paper aimed to study the current locations of post offices to analyze service coverage area for parcel delivery in the Eastern Economics Corridor (EEC), which must be considered in the last mile to extend delivery service for e-commerce growth. Thailand Post was the case study in this paper. Research design, data and methodology: To involve solving the delivery service area under the last mile condition, the authors proposed a network analysis to determine service radius by employing a Geographic Information System (GIS). Furthermore, this paper applied Dijkstra's algorithm as a network analysis tool from GIS for analyzing the last mile service coverage area in a new economics zone. At the same time, the authors suggested an approach as a solution to locate last mile delivery center in EEC. Results: The results of the study pointed out that Thailand Post should consider more last mile delivery centers in EEC to support its express service in urban areas as well as improve the efficiency of service coverage for parcel delivery and create more advantages against competitors. Conclusions: This paper proposes a network analysis to extend the last mile service for parcel delivery by following Dijkstra's algorithm from GIS and a solution approach to add more last mile delivery centers. The results of the research will contribute to boosting customer satisfaction for last mile delivery service and enabling easy accessibility to a service center in EEC.

  • The author describes document delivery services and document usage patterns of domestic users based on usage statistical data about photocopying service of KINITI that the most important document delivery organization in Korea. And investigated ordering procedures of users, number of document processed and rejected in photocopying service, and delivery methods for users and so on. In FY 1996, number of document in photocopying service increased 2.4 percent in proportion to previous year.
