Premolars show the greatest variation in development and eruption. The present case report identified characteristics of eruption of maxillary premolars with delayed development. Multiple maxillary premolars with delayed development were found to have a palatal ectopic eruption pattern, which was self-corrected through eruption guidance by extraction of preceding primary teeth at the stage of root development when eruption force was maximal. In addition, delayed eruption due to delayed development was substantially improved by eruption guidance. Early erupted premolars with less than 1/3 of root development were induced to have normal root development using stabilizing appliance. The maxillary premolars with delayed development reported in the present study showed no complications such as impaction, space loss by delayed eruption, or insufficient root development.

Delayed tooth eruption is the most commonly encountered deviation from normal eruption time. Racial, ethnic, sexual, and individual factors can influence eruption and are usually considered in determining the standards of normal eruption. Delayed tooth eruption was affect to the dentition and facial growth, so that when it occurred careful evaluation should be performed to establish the cause and the treatment plan accordingly. Present 3 cases of delayed tooth eruption by periapical lesion, underdevelopment of incisior and compound odontoma were successfully treated. In these cases, we could observe spontaneous eruption of the delayed erupting tooth after removal of interrupting factor and space regaining with maintaining.

This study aimed to investigate the treatment options for the delayed eruption of mandibular premolars and identify the predictors of spontaneous eruption using panoramic radiography. The prevalence of delayed mandibular premolar eruption in this retrospective analysis, comprising 254 patients (aged 9 - 15 years), was 5.19%, with no significant difference based on gender. The mandibular second premolars were most affected (4.39%) compared to the first premolars (0.76%). No significant difference in prevalence was observed between the left and right sides. Among the treated mandibular premolars, primary molar-related lesions were identified as the leading cause (7.85%) of delayed tooth eruption. The treatment duration varied based on the Nolla stage, eruption stage, and treatment method. Teeth with Nolla stage 7 or lower had a treatment duration of 22.89 ± 11.96 months, whereas those with stage 8 or higher had a 15.02 ± 6.34 month duration. The deeper the tooth was located in the bone, the longer the treatment period became. The treatment duration varied depending on the treatment method, and statistically, there was no significant difference. The treatment durations for affected mandibular premolars increased with the depth of impaction angle of inclination. In this study, the treatment duration for delayed eruptions varied depending on the Nolla stage, eruption stage, and treatment method. Variations in the impaction depth and inclination angle across various treatment approaches, as explored in this study, might offer valuable insights into the selection of the most suitable management options for delayed tooth eruptions.

Among the permanent teeth. the first permanent molars play the greatest role in occlusion and function. So, the congenital missing, abnormal reuption or abnormal formation of the first permanent molars in the course of arch development would inflict normal development of dental arches. Therefore, early detection of abnormal cases related to first permanent molars and understanding of current and predictable clinical problems are essential for proper occlusal guidance in children. With the aim of investigating the clinical patterns of delayed eruption of first permanent molars in children, panoramic tomograms of the childern in mixed and early permanent dentition were observed and analyzed. The results were as follows: 1. Among the delayed eruption of first permanent molars, on tooth or bilateral teeths were affected most frequently. Delayed eruption was more prevalent in maxilla than in mandible. 2. The formation of tardily erupted teeth were also delayed. 3. Delayed eruption was generally limited in first molars or molar segments. 4. Delayed eruption of first permanent molars is accompanied by abnormal position of tooth germs, for example, ectopic eruption, delayed dental age, delayed localized tooth formation and generalized congenital missing. 5. There was a tendency of delayed formation or congenital missing of second molars distal to tardily erupted 1st molars. And that was more marked in maxilla than in mandible. 6. There was reported that affected 1st molars show various size and shapes. Maxillary 1st molars showing delayed eruption showed a tendency of having 3 cusps. But, tardily erupted mandibular 1st molars showed no significant reduction in mesiodistal dimension, as reported. 7. In some cases, the delayed eruption of 1st permanent molars was associated with ectopic eruption, but their formation was not usually retarded. 8. In skeletal class III cases, there showed a tendency of mandibular 1st molars to erupt earlier than maxillary 1st molars with greater interval than in normal occlusion.

The first permanent molars play a key role in maxillofacial development and occlusion. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics and development stages of first molars with delayed eruption, and to evaluate their associations with congenital missing teeth. Eight-year-old patients who had delayed eruption in their first molars were classified into 75 patients with physical barriers and 77 patients without physical barriers. The development stages of the first and second molars in the delayed area were analyzed using Nolla method from the panoramic radiographs. The relationship between congenital missing teeth and delayed area was also investigated. Delayed eruption of first molars were more common in the maxilla alone. With the presence of physical barriers, male patients showed higher frequency in unilateral cases, while female patients had higher bilateral cases when there was no physical barrier. Delayed development of first molars were observed in delayed eruption area. In the absence of physical barriers, adjacent second molars were also developed slowly and the incidence of congenital missing teeth was high in delayed area. If first molars with delayed eruption are observed, clinical and radiographical follow-ups are necessary for the evaluation of their developmental stages and congenital missing teeth.
Eruption of the teeth can be disturbed by crowding, ectopic eruption path, retention for pathologic condition of follicle and periodontal ligament, local disturbances in the innervation, and delayed eruption for overlying obstacles in the eruption path. Eruption disturbance of permanent posterior teeth is taken with diverse therapeutic approaches according to the patient age, cooperation of patient, tooth position and maturity, degree of impaction, clinical features, and repercussion on the neighboring teeth. However, delayed treatment usually results in less favorable outcomes. Therefore, In order to prevent this situation, periodically radiographic examinations during the early mixed dentition period and early diagnosis of eruption disturbances of permanent posterior teeth are recommended.

Delayed eruption disorders caused by systemic or local conditions are mostly found during childhood and can be treated with orthodontic forced eruption. When the disorder is not found nor treated during childhood, however, orthodontic eruption might become a difficult option while prosthodontic restoration can be considered as an another option. Considerations for the prosthodontic treatment plan include the extent of tooth loss, interdental mesio-distal space and interarch space, and age of the patient. In this case report, oral rehabilitation of the patient with delayed eruption disorder through zirconia partial fixed prostheses for both maxilla and mandible was performed.

Eruption disturbance is an abnormal state of eruption that occurs over a broad chronologic age range. There are many factors that influence eruption such as premature loss of primary teeth, supernumerary tooth, local disease, tongue, lip, mastication muscle and trauma. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence, patterns and tooth position that have eruption disturbance in children in Seoul, Korea. The subjects were 8,010 new patients who visited the department of Pediatric dentistry of Seoul National University Dental Hospital in 2004-2005. Clinical and radiographic records of the patients were reviewed by the primary investigator who is a pediatric dentist. Notable eruption disturbances included delayed eruption, early eruption and ectopic eruption and the prevalence of eruption disturbance was 8.79%.

Hypercementosis is an excessive deposition of secondary cementum on the root of a tooth. It is mostly presented as a solitary lesion or in rare cases as a generalized type, but which is seldom recognized; typically it is discovered during regular dental X-ray. Increased thickness of cementum is not uncommon but generalized hypercementosis on impacted permanent teeth which may cause delayed eruption is rarely reported. This case report discusses a patient with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and mental retardation that presents multiple hypercementosis with delayed eruption. On intraoral examination, multiple retained primary molar teeth were found. As there was no any further symptoms, regular dental checkup had been done for several years. In 2015, a surgical opening was performed in the second molar area, but there was no specific change. Panoramic view showed multiple impacted permanent teeth with increased thickness of roots due to excessive deposition of cementum. Hypercementosis was also observed in the root of the erupted tooth. Several laboratory test results including hormone, urine, complete blood count test were reviewed. The patient was also diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism, impaired fasting glucose and had been taken valproic acid($Orfil^{(R)}$) for 10 years. However, none of them clearly explained generalized hypercementosis or delayed eruption. The patient is now 24 years old and regular dental checkups and radiographs are taken to confirm that there is no change in the lesion.

The purpose of this study is to determine what influence the lesion and the premature loss of mandibular 1st deciduous molar have on the eruption of its successor, and the author devided 580 cases of orthopantomograms from age 3 to 9 years old children into 3 groups: Control Group: both side normal Study I Group: one normal and the other lesion. Study II Group: one normal and the other premature loss before 8 years old. and observed the amount of differences and the relative position in eruption between study-tooth successor and normal-tooth successor, The following results were obtained: 1. The differences in eruption between right and left mandibular 1st primary molars of Study Group were greater than those of Control Group. 2. The successors of lesioned-teeth showed more accelerated eruption than the antimeres in 40.9% and more delayed, in 22.7%. 3. The successors of premature lost-teeth showed more accelerated eruption than the antimeres in 61.7% and more delayed, in 4.3%.
