  • For the state feedback controller which measures only partial state variables, a state observer can be used to give the estimates of unmeasurable states. In this paper, the delayed state feedback method instead of the state observer for desingning a tracking controller of electro-hydraulic control system is presented. The controller design is based on augmenting the original system by one additional integral and proportional element which compensates for the effect of the integral control and on feeding back the measurable state variables and their delayed values. The performance of the proposed position control system is compared with both that of the full state feedback control system and that of the digital PID control system tuned by the Ziegler-Nichols method and by the parameter readjustment through the computer simulation. And then robustness against unmeasurable constant disturbace and parameter variations during operations is also checked.

  • The Delayed Feedback Control method (DFC) proposed by Pyragas applies an input based on the difference between the current state of the system, which is generating chaos orbits, and the $\tau$-time delayed state, and stabilizes the chaos orbit into a target. In DFC, the information about a position in the state space is unnecessary if the period of the unstable periodic orbit to stabilize is known. There exists the fault that DFC cannot stabilize the unstable periodic orbit when a linearlized system around the periodic point has an odd number property. There is the chaos control method using the prediction of the $\tau$-time future state (PDFC) proposed by Ushio et al. as the method to compensate this fault. Then, we propose a method such as improving the fault of the DFC. Namely, we combine DFC and PDFC with parameter W, which indicates the balance of both methods, not to lose each advantage. Therefore, we stabilize the state into the $\tau$ periodic orbit, and ask for the ranges of Wand gain K using Jury' method, and determine the quasi-optimum pair of (W, K) using a genetic algorithm. Finally, we apply the proposed method to a discrete-time chaotic system, and show the efficiency through some examples of numerical experiments.

  • In this paper, a controller design for a electro-hydraulic servo system is presented. When state variables of the system are not directly measurable for feedback control, it is very difficult to satisfy the given requirements for the system output control. The proposed design method is based on the feeding back of the output variable and it's time delayed values.

  • In this paper, we deal with the problem of designing guaranteed cost state feedback controller for the generalized time-varying delay systems with delayed state and control input. The generalized time delay system problems solved on the basis of LMI(linear matrix inequality) technique considering time-varying delays. The sufficient condition for the existence of controller and guaranteed cost state feedback controller design methods are presented. Also, using some changes of variables and Schur complements, the obtained sufficient condition can be reformulated as LMI forms in terms of transformed variables. Therefore, all solutions of LMIs, guaranteed cost controller gain, and guaranteed cost are obtained at the same time. The proposed controller design method can be extended into the problem of robust guaranteed cost controller design method for parameter uncertain systems with time-varying delays easily.

  • In this paper, we present an output feedback $H^\infty$controller design method and derive the sufficient condition of the bounded real lemma for linear systems with multiple delays in states. For state delayed systems, sufficient conditions for the existence $\kappa$-th order $H^\infty$controllers are given in terms of three linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). Furthermore, we show how to construct such controllers from the positive definite solutions of their LMIs and given an example to illustrate the validitiy of the proosed design procedure.

  • This paper considers a finite spectrum assignment Problem for a functional retarded linear differential system with delays in control only. In this problem, by generalizing from an abstract linear system characterized by Semigroups on a Hilbert space to a finite dimensional linear system, we unify the relationship between a control-delayed system and its non-delayed system, and then by using the spectrum of the generator-decomposition of Semigroup, we try to get a feedback law which yields a finite spectrum of the closed-loop system, located at an arbitrarily preassigned sets of n points in the complex plane. The comparative examinations between the standard spectrum assignment method and the method of spectral projection for the feedback law which consists of proportional and finite interval terms over present and past values of control variables are also considered. The analysis is carry down to the elementary spectral projection level because, in spite of all the research efforts, so far there has been no significant attempt to obtain the feedback implementation directly from the abstract representation forms in the case of multivariables.

  • Linear time invariant systems are considered. It is assumed that only partial state variables are observable for feedback control. In this study, a new method is presented for designing a stat e feedback controller. It is based on augmenting the original system by additional integrator and using time delayed feedback of observable variables. Several examples and its computer simulation results are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, a visual servoing control technique of humanoid robot arms is implemented for tracking a moving object. An embedded time-delayed controller is designed on an FPGA(Programmable field gate array) chip and implemented to control humanoid robot arms. The position of the moving object is detected by a stereo vision camera and converted to joint commands through the inverse kinematics. Then the robot arm performs visual servoing control to track a moving object in real time fashion. Experimental studies are conducted and results demonstrate the feasibility of the visual feedback control method for a moving object tracking task by the humanoid robot arms called the ROBOKER.

  • Position control of the electro-hydraulic servo indexing system in a flexible forging machine was investigated Flexible forging machine forges an axial type workpiece in the radial direction as well as in the axial direction. The role of the indexing system is to rotate a workpiece fast and accurately to a desired position for continuous shaping. Since the inertia of a workpiece changes during each forging step, a control technique which is robust to inertia variation should be adopted to the position control of the workpiece. In this study, time delayed control technique is applied to the servo system. Time delayed control method does not depend on estimation of specific parameters. Rather, it depends on the direct estimation of a function representing the effect of uncertainties. Direct estimation is accomplished using time delay and the gathered information is used to cancel the unknown dynamics is accomplished using disturbances simultaneously. Experimental result show that the time delayed controller is robust to inertia variation of the load, and satisfactory performance on the sposition accuracy is obtained compared to the contentional feedback control.

  • In this paper, we propose a delayed feedback guaranteed cost controller design method for linear time-delay systems with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties and nonlinear perturbations. A quadratic cost function is considered as the performance measure for the given system. Based on the Lyapunov method, an LMI optimization problem is formulated to design a controller such that the closed-loop cost function value is not more than a specified upper bound for all admissible system uncertainties and nonlinear perturbations. Numerical example show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
