The performance of underwater acoustic communication system is sensitive to the inter-symbol interference due to delay spread develop of multipath signal propagation. Thus, it is necessary technique of equalizer and channel code to eliminate inter-symbol interference. In this paper, underwater acoustic communication system were analyzed by experiment using these techniques on the Kyeong-chun lake, Munkyeong City. Based on the results of experiment, we confirmed that the performance of the proposed iterative BCJR equalization method is improved by increasing the number of iterations.
The concept of energy-efficient networking has begun to spread in the past few years, gaining increasing popularity. A common opinion among networking researchers is that the sole introduction of low consumption silicon technologies may not be enough to effectively curb energy requirements. Thus, for disruptively boosting the network energy efficiency, these hardware enhancements must be integrated with ad-hoc mechanisms that explicitly manage energy saving, by exploiting network-specific features. The IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard is one of such efforts. EEE introduces a low power mode for the most common Ethernet physical layer standards and is expected to provide large energy savings. However, it has been shown that EEE may not achieve good energy efficiency because mode transition overheads can be significant, leading to almost full energy consumption even at low utilization levels. Coalescing techniques such as packet coalescing and interrupt coalescing were proposed to improve energy efficiency of EEE, but their implementations typically adopt a simple policy that employs a few fixed values for coalescing parameters, thus it is difficult to achieve optimal energy efficiency. The paper proposes adaptive interrupt coalescing (AIC) that adopts an optimal policy that could not only improve energy efficiency but support performance. AIC has been implemented at the sender side with the Intel 82579 network interface card (NIC) and e1000e Linux device driver. The experiments were performed at 100 M bps transfer rate and show that energy efficiency of AIC is improved in most cases despite performance consideration and in the best case can be improved up to 37% compared to that of conventional interrupt coalescing techniques.

In this paper, we propose the result of PSSK(Phase Silence Shift Keying) modulation scheme that is mixed PSK(Phase Shift Keying) modulation and PPM(Pulse Position Modulation) method. The performance of underwater communication systems are influenced underwater channel characteristics. In particular, delay spread can make ISI(Inter Symbol Interference) because of reverberation and multi path. It degrade the performance of the communication system. Also underwater sensor networks consider about power efficient due to the particularities of their operating environment. PSSK modulation method transmit two orthogonal symbol and using silence period in a period so it can reduce the power. Increasing the distance of between modulation symbols, to enhance the performance of BER(Bit Error Rate) as well as to improve power efficient. The result of sea trial, QPSK modulation BER is $3.19{\times}10^{-1}$ and PSSK modulation BER is $2.89{\times}10^{-1}$.
In this paper, we present an improved channel estimation method for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems using pilot-symbol-aided parameter estimation. Conventional linear minimum mean square error(LMMSE) channel estimation method uses only pilot symbols for channel estimation. So, as the fading channel varies rapidly, a performance is decreased. We proposed a channel estimation method, which estimates channel attenuation in the middle of pilots using pilot symbols and then estimates the whole channel attenuation with pilots and estimated channel attenuation. Compared with conventional LMMSE channel estimation method, the proposed method is significantly robust in a rapid fading channel with high Doppler frequency and delay spread.

The performance of underwater wireless communication system is influenced on channel characteristic. Especially, a delay spread cause by reverberation and multi-path happen the ISI (Inter Symbol Interference) and reduces the communication performance. In this paper, we study the application of high speed data transmission in underwater to use the OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technique for robust the reverberation and multi-path. we confirm the performance of communication in underwater to use the model for actually underwater channel simulation model. As a result, we acquired the BER of modulation techniques. The BER of single carrier is $2{\times}10^{-1}$ and BER of multi currier is $8{\times}10^{-2}$ in 1000m. Transmission of single carrier is 5 kbps.
Purpose: Tuberculosis is an infectious condition with a high disease burden, and the stigma in patients with tuberculosis causes negative health outcomes. The purpose of this study was to define and clarify the concept of self-stigma among patients with tuberculosis. Methods: The analysis was conducted using Walker and Avant's conceptual approach. Twenty-seven studies met the selection criteria. Results: Self-stigma in patients with tuberculosis can be defined by the following attributes: 1) self-esteem decrement; 2) fear; 3) negative emotions to oneself; 4) social withdrawal; and 5) discrimination. The antecedents identified were 1) inappropriate knowledge of tuberculosis, 2) spread of improper health information through media and social communications, 3) stereotypes and prejudices, 4) visibility due to symptoms appearing, 5) recognizing the risk of infection, and 6) low financial status. The consequences were 1) concealing the disease, 2) treatment delay, 3) poor treatment adherence, 4) poor quality of life, and 5) deterioration in or lack of social activities. Conclusion: The definition and attributes of self-stigma identified by this study can be applied to enhance the understanding of stigma in tuberculosis patients and to improve communications between healthcare providers and researchers. It can also be used to develop theories and measurements related to stigma in patients with tuberculosis.

With the spread of web services, data types are becoming more diversified. In addition to the form of storing data such as images, videos, and texts, the number and form of properties and metadata expressing the data are different for each data. In order to efficiently process such unstructured data, a key-value store is widely used for state-of-the-art applications. LSM-Tree (Log Structured Merge Tree) is the core data structure of various commercial key-value stores. LSM-Tree is optimized to provide high performance for small writes by recording all write and delete operations in a log manner. However, there is a problem in that the delay time and processing speed of user requests are lowered as batches of deletion operations for expired data are inserted into the LSM-Tree as special key-value data. This paper presents a Filtered LSM-Tree (FLSM-Tree) that solves the above problem by separating the deleted key from the main tree structure while maintaining all the advantages of the existing LSM-Tree. The proposed method is implemented in LevelDB, a commercial key-value store and it shows that the read performance is improved by up to 47% in performance evaluation.
In this paper, we evaluate the underwater frequency diversity communication performance of Selective Combination (SC) using Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE). In an underwater multipath frequency selective channel, destructive interference fading due to delay spread of a received signal affects the increase in error and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) variability of an underwater acoustic communication. Selective Combination frequency diversity using a single sensor is applied as a transmission performance improvement technique according to the frequency selectivity of a channel. In the sea experiment applying MLE for SC decision value extraction, we evaluate the performance of SC frequency diversity and MLE-SC frequency diversity. In experiment result, we confirm through experiment that the Bit Error Rate (BER) is relatively lower when the decision value extracted through MLE-SC is applied than when the SC decision value is fixed.

Vaccination is the most effective method for preventing the spread of the influenza virus. Cell-based influenza vaccines have been developed to overcome the disadvantages of egg-based vaccines and their production efficiency has been previously discussed. In this study, we investigated whether treatment with forskolin (FSK), an adenylyl cyclase activator, affected the output of a cell-based influenza vaccine. We found that FSK increased the propagation of three influenza virus subtypes (A/H1N1/California/4/09, A/H3N2/Mississippi/1/85, and B/Shandong/7/97) in Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells. Interestingly, FSK suppressed the growth of MDCK cells. This effect could be a result of protein kinase A (PKA)-Src axis activation, which downregulates extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)1/2 activity and delays cell cycle progression from G1 to S. This delay in cell growth might benefit the binding and entry of the influenza virus in the early stages of viral replication. In contrast, FSK dramatically upregulated ERK1/2 activity via the cAMP-PKA-Raf-1 axis at a late stage of viral replication. Thus, increased ERK1/2 activity might contribute to increased viral ribonucleoprotein export and influenza virus propagation. The increase in viral titer induced by FSK could be explained by the action of cAMP in assisting the entry and binding of the influenza virus. Therefore, FSK addition to cell culture systems could help increase the production efficiency of cell-based vaccines against the influenza virus.

In this paper, channel model and wireless link performance analysis for the short-range wireless communication system applications in the terahertz frequency which is currently interested in many countries will be described. In order to realize high data rates above 10 Gbps, the more wide bandwidths will be required than the currently available bandwidths of millimeter-wave frequencies, therefore, the carrier frequencies will be pushed to THz range to obtain larger bandwidths. From the THz atmospheric propagation characteristics based on ITU-R P.676-7, the available bandwidths were calculated to be 68, 48 and 45 GHz at the center frequencies of 220, 300 and 350 GHz, respectively. With these larger bandwidths, it was shown from the simulation that higher data rate above 10 Gbps can be achieved using lower order modulation schemes which have spectral efficiency of below 1. The indoor propagation delay spread characteristics were analyzed using a simplified PDP model with respect to building materials. The RMS delay spread was calculated to be 9.23 ns in a room size of $6\;m(L){\times}5\;m(W){\times}2.5\;m(H)$ for the concrete plaster with TE polarization, which is a similar result of below 10 ns from the Ray-Tracing simulation in the reference paper. The indoor wireless link performance analysis results showed that receiver sensitivity was $-56{\sim}-46\;dBm$ over bandwidth of $5{\sim}50\;GHz$ and antenna gain was calculated to be $26.6{\sim}31.6\;dBi$ at link distance of 10m under the BPSK modulation scheme. The maximum achievable data rates were estimated to be 30, 16 and 12 Gbps at the carrier frequencies of 220, 300 and 350 GHz, respectively, under the A WGN and LOS conditions, where it was assumed that the output power of the transmitter is -15 dBm and link distance of 1 m with BER of $10^{-12}$. If the output power of transmitter is increased, the more higher data rate can be achieved than the above results.
