It is known that chloride ion in concrete destroys the passive film of reinforcement inside concrete and accelerates corrosion which is the most influencing factor to durability of concrete structures. In this thesis, a chloride ion diffusion model for blast furnace slag(BFS) concrete, which has better resistance to both damage due to salt and chloride ion penetration than ordinary portland cement concrete, is proposed by modifying existing model of normal concrete. Proposed model is verified by comparing diffusion analysis results with both results by indoor chloride penetration test for specimens and field test results for actual RC bridge pier. Also, the optimum resistance condition to chloride penetration is obtained according to degrees of fineness and replacement ratios of BFS concrete. As a result, resistance to chloride ion penetration for BFS concrete is more affected by replacement ratio than degree of fineness.
This research presents the effect of various ground pozzolanic materials in blended cement concrete on the strength and chloride penetration resistance. An experimental investigation dealing with concrete incorporating ground fly ash (GFA), ground bottom ash (GBA) and ground rice husk ash (GRHA). The concretes were mixed by replacing each pozzolan to Ordinary Portland cement at levels of 0%, 10%, 20% and 40% by weight of binder. Three different water to cement ratios (0.35, 0.48 and 0.62) were used and type F superplasticizer was added to keep the required slump. Compressive strength and chloride permeability were determined at the ages of 28, 60, and 90 days. Furthermore, using this experimental database, linear and nonlinear multiple regression techniques were developed to construct a mathematical model of chloride permeability in concretes. Experimental results indicated that the incorporation of GFA, GBA and GRHA as a partial cement replacement significantly improved compressive strength and chloride penetration resistance. The chloride penetration of blended concrete continuously decreases with an increase in pozzolan content up to 40% of cement replacement and yields the highest reduction in the chloride permeability. Compressive strength of concretes incorporating with these pozzolans was obviously higher than those of the control concretes at all ages. In addition, the nonlinear technique gives a higher degree of accuracy than the linear regression based on statistical parameters and provides fairly reasonable absolute fraction of variance ($R^2$) of 0.974 and 0.960 for the charge passed and chloride penetration depth, respectively.
Frozen storage of the oocytes has been used in a few mammalian species including mouse, hamster, human and cattle. However, frozen4hawed oocvtes show different sperm penetration on the levels of the zona pellucida and the plasma memhrane when compared with fresh oocytes. To elucidate biological changes occurring during freezing and thawing, we examined the kinetics of sperm penetration into frozen-thawed hamster oocytes. Oocytes obtained from superovulated female golden hamsters were frozen-thawed in an autofreezer according to an established method. Fresh and frozen4hawed oocytes were fertilized in vitro with capacitated hamster spermatozoa after removing the zona pellucida. The oocytes were examined at 1, 2, 3 and 6 h postinsemination. Sperm penetration found to be 1 h delayed in frozen-thawed oocytes. Other parameters such as degree of polyspermy and decondensing sperm heads were not affected by freezing and thawing. The results suggest that freezing and thawing may cause changes in the egg membrane surface and subsequently which leads to delay in the sperm-egg fusion.
The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of canal irrigants and smear layer on the property of apical seal. Fourty-five canals from human teeth were randomly selected and divided into 5 groups according to the irrigants used in conjunction with instrumentation. The irrigants were RC-prep in combination with Naocl, Citric acid, Naocl, Naocl in combination with $H_2O_2$, and normal saline solution. After instrumention and dry the canal with paper point, the canals were obturated by lateral condensation of Zinc-oxide eugenol sealer and gutta percha cone. All the specimens were immersed in 2% methylene blue dye solution for 7 days and the depth of dye penetration into the canals was evaluated by macros cope. The following results were obtained. 1. All the canals experimented showed varying degree of dye penetration. 2. There was no significant difference in depth of dye penetration between the groups known to be effective and ineffective in the removal of the smear layer. 3. The canals irrigated with NaOCl alone showed the highest dye penetration and mean leakage was 7.7 mm. 4. In the canals irrigated with RC-prep in combination with Naocl and citric acid, the mean dye penetration was 5.5 mm and 4.8 mm respectively, and the canals irrigated with NaOCl in combination with $H_2O_2$ and normal saline solution revealed mean dye penetration of 3.9 mm.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the adaptability to tooth structure of composite resin and glass ionomer cement according to filling methods. In this study. two class V cavities were prepared on the buccal and lingual surface of each tooth of forty extracted human premolars. and they were randomly assigned into 4 groups with 10 teeth. The cavities of each group were filled with the CLEARFIL FII self curing resin(Control Group), Z-100 light curing resin (Group 1). $Vitremer^{TM}$ light curing glass ionomer cement(Group 2) and Z-100 light curing resin over the $Vitremer^{TM}$ liner(Group 3). The specimens underwent temperature changed from $5^{\circ}C$ to $55^{\circ}C$ five hundred times. After thermocycling. specimens were immersed in 2% methylene blue solution and stored in 100% relative humidity at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. And then. the specimens sectioned buccolingually. Degree of dye penetration at tooth-restoration interfaces were examined by Tool maker's microscope(x 200) and Image analyzer. The results were as follows : 1. On the occlusal margin. among the experimental groups. the group 2 showed the highest dye penetration($2.40{\pm}0.68$) and the group 3 showed the lowest dye penetration($1.15{\pm}0.37$). There was significant difference among the experimental groups(p<0.001). 2. On the gingival margin, among the experimental groups, the group 1 showed the highest dye penetration($3.30{\pm}0.57$) and the group 2 showed the lowest dye penetration($1.65{\pm}0.49$). There was significant difference among the experimental groups(p>0.001). 3. About total degree of dye penetration, the group 1 showed the highest dye penetration($2.25{\pm}1.17$) and the group 3 showed the lowest dye penetration ($1.43{\pm}0.55$). There was significant difference among the experimental groups(p<0.001). 4. The sum of dye penetration at occlusal margin was less than gingival margin. There was significant difference between occlusal margin and gingival margin (p<0.001). The results showed that differences were more pronounced at the gingival margin. Composite restorations inserted over the glass-ionomer liner demonstrated significantly less leakage than single restoration that used composite resin or glass-ionomer cement.

Globalization has led to an increase in foreign banks' penetration. It is argued that the presence of foreign banks may affect the banking sector of the host countries in several ways including their competition level. It is mentioned that the presence of the foreign banks could heightened the level of competition in the banking sector. Nonetheless, the impact of the foreign banks on competition could be influenced by the degree of information sharing in the banking industry. This study investigates the role of information sharing in moderating the impact of foreign bank penetration on host banking sector competition in selected developing countries. We employ panel data samples of 54 developing countries during the period from 1998 to 2016. The estimation is carried out using the two-step system of the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) regression technique. This technique is adopted due to its robustness to all forms of endogeneity. The findings of this study show that the presence of information sharing could affect the relationship between foreign banks' penetration and competition. They suggest that improvement in information sharing by a host country may help foreign banks to improve monitoring and reduce the moral hazard and adverse selection problem.
The purpose of this study was to estimate that the relations of weathering speed and shear strength of granite soil by tracing the weathering depth of granite soil from the very moment of its cutting. The results obtained this follows ; 1) The relationships among Nc, Li and CEC, Li>6%, CEC>14 corresponds to Nc=2~30, and 4%
${\phi}$)increases at a standard pressure. 3) And Nc=0~50 corresponds to $27{\sim}50^{\circ}$ of internal fiction angle and to 12~49kPa of cohesion. That is to say, internal friction angle(${\phi}$)corresponds better than cohesion(c). In conclusion, this study suggests that in simplified dynamic cone penetration test a penetration boundary line of 5 centimeters is decided at around Li=4%, CEC=3(meq/100g) which is classified as a completely weathering soil. It also appears that CEC increases as Li increases while Nc decreases.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of canal filling methods and post-space preparation time on the apical seal of endodontically treated teeth. Seventy-six single-rooted human teeth were divided into 6 groups and each tooth was obturated and prepared post-space according to the purpose of this study. After all specimens were immersed in Indian ink, decalcified and cleared, the degree of dye penetration into the root canals observed by magnifying glass (X20) and measured by caliper. The results were as follows: 1. In the thermatic condensation, no significant difference in ink penetration occured when the post-spaces were created immediately after obturation or when they were made a week later. 2. In the lateral condensation, no significant difference in ink penetration existed between teeth whose post-space were prepared immediately or delayed. 3. In comparison of experimental groups and control groups, no significant difference showed when the groups were obturated with McSpadden compactor but when the teeth were laterally condensed, the experimental groups showed less ink penetration than controls. 4. Thermatic condensed teeth with McSpadden compactor were less ink penetration thn laterally condensed teeth.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of moisture on apical sealing properties of root canal. Fifty five single rooted human teeth were selected from maxillary and mandibular teeth. After removing crown portion at the cemento-enamel junction, all teeth were routinely prepared with step-back method. And then, the canals were dried with paper point and the teeth were randomly divided into 3 groups of 15 teeth each, and remaining 10 teeth were used as positive and negative control teeth : Group 1 were irrigated with 1ml of 95% alcohol and dried with air and paper point. Group 2 and 3 were intentionally contaminated with 0.05ml of 3.5% NaOCl or saliva, respectively. All the teeth were obturated with sealapex and gutta percha cone by lateral condensation technique, and covered with two coat of nail varnish after 48 hours of obturation. The teeth were immersed in india ink for 1 week and cleaned with methyl salicylate and then the degree of dye penetration were measured with stereomicroscope. The data were analyzed statistically by one-way ANOVA. The results were as follows : 1. All experimental groups showed varying degrees of dye penetration, and the mean degree of dye penetration was 0.1mm to 0.7mm. 2. Saliva contamination group(group 3) showed the highest amount of dye penetration, followed by NaOCl contamination group, then alcohol dried group, but there was no significant difference among three experimental groups. * This results suggest that there was no significant differences of apical leakage after canal obturation between alcohol dried canal and moisture present canals and the use of alcohol instead of paper point is unnecessary to dry the canals prior to canal filling. But other factors such as bacterial contamination and sealer discoloration by moisture must be considered in application of this results to clinical practice.
This study was carried out to develop a self-propelled type explosive subsoiler for improving the root zone soil conditions in orchard and other forest fields. Prototype was designed to be able to inject air and other soil improving material such as lime into soil at the same time, and thus improve the air permeability and drainage of orchard soils to promote the root growth of tree for high quality fruit production. Soil penetration device of explosive subsoiler is composed of air hammer, penetration rob and air injection nozzle. To support the soil penetration device of explosive subsoiler to penetrate vertically, modified Scott-Russel mechanism was used. Timing control device for simultaneous injection of soil improving material with air was attached to the out side wall of air cylinder and as the cylinder move, the soil improving material was injected into soil at the same time. Turning radius of prototype was 2.2-2.3 m with good mobility in sloped land. It took approximately 1 minute for lime injection system to reach the optimum pressure of 9.9 kg/$cm^2$, average 10-20 seconds were required to rupture soil with the depth of 50 cm and 2-3 seconds were required for explosion, so all in all about 1 minute and 20 seconds were required for one cycle of explosion. Maximum soil rupture depth and diameter were 50 cm and 3-4 m respectively depending on the soil type and soil moisture content. For final design of explosive subsoiler inclination angle of lime hopper was increased from 60 degree to 70 degree and the shape of hopper was changed from rectangular cone to circular cone to solve the clogging problem of lime at out let. Agitating system operated by compressed air was attached to the metering device of the prototype, thus more than 90 cc of lime was discharged per cycle from metering device without clogging problems.
