Three sets of ZnO ceramic devices (reference samples with Matsuoka\`s composition; added 7o MgO, A1$_2$O$_3$, SiO$_2$) have been prepared by the conventional mixed oxide route. These additives were determined by the factors of valences and ionic radiuses. DC accelerated degradation test was performed for analysis of degradation characteristics versus the various additives. The conditions of DC degradation test were 115${\pm}$2$^{\circ}C$ for 12h. Using XRD and SEM, the Phase and microstructure of samples were analyzed respectively. E-J analysis was used to determine ${\alpha}$. Frequency analysis was accomplished to understand the relationship between R$\sub$g/ and $R_{b}$ with the electric stress at the equivalent circuit.

Element distribution analysis and degradation characteristics of the ZnO varistors fabricated at the ambient sintering-process is investigated in this study. ZnO varistors made of Matsuoka's composition were fabricated by standard ceramic techniques. The ambient sintering-process is performed at the special electrical-furnace which is equipped with the vacuum system. The Gases of injection at sintering- process were oxygen, air, nitrogen and argon respectively. Element and quantitative analysis in the microstructure of ZnO varistors made use of EPMA equipment. Degradation characteristics were showed by DC degradation tests at $115{\pm}2\;^{\circ}C$ for period up to 13 h. From above analysis, it is found that at the DC degradation test the ZnO varistor sintered in oxygen atmosphere showed the excellent prop properties among them and these results could be explain by element and quantitative analysis in ZnO microstructure.
Nano-Varistors fabricated with ZnO 30nm and 80nm powders were studied about the electrical characteristics with AC accelerated degradation in this paper Especially, ZnO nano-powder varistors were sintered m air at $1050^{\circ}C$ and analyzed the phenomenons of before and after AC degradation test. The stress conditions of AC degradation test were $1.0V_{1mA}$$115{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ for 24h. 80nm-varistor was exhibited better performance than 30nm-varistor m the electrical stabilities. And then 80nm-varistor resulted m the degradation characteristics that the variation rate of operating voltage, nonlinear coefficient and leakage current was -0 3%, -0 4% and -3 3%, respectively.
The corrosion degradation characteristics of the 12Cr alloy steel, which is widely used in fossil power plants as a turbine blade material, are evaluated nondestructively by use of the backward radiated Rayleigh surface wave. In order to evaluate corrosion degradation characteristics, we constructed automated system for the backward radiation, and the frequency dependency of the Rayleigh surface wave is investigated indirectly by measuring the angular dependency of the backward radiation of the incident ultrasonic wave in the specimens. The velocity of the surface wave decrease as the increase of the aging time in the backward radiation profile, which seems to result from the increase of the effective degrading layer thickness. And, amplitude of the surface wave increase as the aging time, which seems to result from the increase of the intergranular corrosion. The result observed in this study demonstrates high potential of the backward radiated ultrasound as a tool for the nondestructive evaluation of the corrosion degradation characteristics of the aged materials.

Aging-related degradation of nuclear power plant components is an important aspect to consider in securing the long term safety of the plant, especially the seismic safety, since the degradation of the components affects not only their seismic capacity but their response. This can cause a change in the seismic margin of a component and the overall seismic safety of a system. To better understand the status and characteristics of degradation of components in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs), the degradation occurrences of components in the U.S. NPPs were identified by reviewing recent publicly available information sources and the characteristics of these occurrences were evaluated and compared to observations from the past. Ten categories of components that are of high risk significance in Korean NPPs were identified, comprising anchorage, concrete, containment, exchanger, filter, piping systems, reactor pressure vessels, structural steel, tanks, and vessels. Software tools were developed to expedite the review process. Results from this review effort were compared to previous data in the literature to characterize the overall degradation trends.
Tetracycline is one of the most commonly used as antibiotics for the livestock industry and it is still widely used nowadays. Tetracycline and its metabolites are excreted with excrement, which is difficult to completely removed with conventional sewage treatment, therefore it is apprehended that the tetracycline-resistant bacteria occurs. In this study, the oxidant named ferrate(VI) was used to degrade the tetracycline and investigate the reaction between ferrate(VI) and tetracycline under various aqueous conditions. The highest degradation efficiency of tetracycline occurred in basic condition (pH 10.1 ± 0.1) because of the pKa values of tetracycline and ferrate(VI). The results also showed the effect of water temperature on the degradation of tetracycline was not significant. In addition, the dosage of ferrate(VI) was higher, the degradation of tetracycline and the self-degradation of ferrate(VI) also higher, finally the efficiency of ferrate(VI) was lower. The results said that the various mechanisms effects the reaction of ferrate(VI) oxidation, it required the consideration of the characteristics of the target compound for optimal degradation efficiency. Additionally, intermediate products were detected with LC/MS/MS and three degradation pathways were proposed.
This study analyzed the characteristics of insulation resistance and operating time based on an accelerated degradation test of a low-voltage circuit breaker. The experimental sample used a molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) and an earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB). After measuring the insulation resistance of the circuit breakers, the leakage current was affected by an external rather than an internal structure. Furthermore, the insulation resistance of the circuit breakers with accelerated degradation was measured using a Megger insulation tester. In the accelerated degradation test, aging times of five, ten, 15, and 20 years were applied according to a temperature derived using the Arrhenius equation. Circuit breakers with an equivalent life of ten, 15, and 20 years had increased insulation resistance compared to those with less degradation time. In particular, the circuit breaker with an equivalent life of ten years had the highest insulation resistance. Component analysis of the circuit breaker manufactured through an accelerated degradation test confirmed that the timing of the increase in insulation resistance and the time of additive loss were the same. Finally, after analyzing the operating time of the circuit breakers with degradation, it was confirmed that the MCCB did not change, but the ELCB breaker failed.
The degradation characteristics versus MgO Additive for the ZnO ceramic devices fabricated by the standard ceramic techniques is investigated in this study. It were made these devices be basic Matsuoka's composition. Especially, MgO were added to analyze the degradation characteristics and sintered in air at 1300$^{\circ}C$. The conditions of DC degradation test were 115${\pm}$2$^{\circ}C$ for 12h. Using XRD and SEM, the phase and microstructure of samples were analyzed respectively. The elemental analysis in the microstructures was used by EDS, E-J analysis was used to determine ${\alpha}$ . Frequency analysis was accomplished to understand the relationship between R$\sub$g/ and $R_{b}$ with the electric stress at the equivalent circuit.
Characteristics of hot-electron-induced degradation by AC, DC was investigated for p-MOSFET's(W/L=25/l$\mu$m) with sub-10nm RTP-CVD gate oxides. It was confirmed that the surface channel p-MOSFET of a thinner gate oxide shows less degradation. Mechanisms for this effect were analyzed using a simple MOS Device degradation model. It was found that the number of generated electron traps(fixed charge) is determined by the amount of peak gate current, dependent of the gate oxide thickness, and the major cause of the smaller degradation in the thinner gate oxide devices is the lower hot electron trapping carriers.
This study was conducted to evaluate the degradation characteristics of waste cigarette filters under 0, 5, 10, and 15cm in depth from soil surface by environmental conditions. Weather was the most important factor during degradation of waste cigarette filters in this study. Bulking of cellulose acetate filaments exposed on soil surface was observed after 2 months, but the form of filter was kept up after 12 months. The treated cigarette filters in soil landfill revealed a little different degradation pattern at each soil landfill depth, The sample in 5cm depth of soil was more degraded then other site. A fluffy appearance of cellulose acetate filaments in the control filter rods was also developed more strongly in soil landfill then on soil surface. From the observation of waste cigarette filters by scanning electron microscopy, much degradation of the fiber of waste cigarette filters could be ascertained in soil landfill. The weight of waste cigarette filters under 5cm from soil surface was reduced about 50%, and the tensile strength of the samples in soil surface and under 5cm from soil surface were reduced 66.0% and 92.4%, respectively. The microbial experiment date that the viable cell number in microbial population and cellulolytic microorganisms showed the maximum values under 5cm from soil surface, suggest that microorganisms in soil play an important roll in the degradation of acetate cigarette filters.
