  • Most people have to deal with color and color problems occasionally. There are many strange things about color and color vision that most people do not notice. Even though color seems intuitive and simple it is not. In this paper, we modeled the color using fuzzy set theory. The proposed fuzzy color model is based on the Munsell color space. We defined several fuzzy color terminologies, and proposed a extended center of gravity defuzzification mthod for fuzzy color set. Finally, three distance measures between fuzzy colors were also formulated.

An Optimal COA Defuzzifier for a Fuzzy Logic controller (퍼지 논리 제어기를 위한 최적의 COA 비퍼지화기)

  • This paper proposes an optimal COA(Center Of Area) defuzzification method that improves the contr~lp erformance of a fuzzy logic controller. The defuzzification method incorporates both the membership values and the effective span of membership function6 in calculating a crisp value. An optimal effective span is determined automatically by the genetic algorithm thrqugh the training of some typical examples. Simulation of the proposed COA defuzzifier to the truck backer-upper control problem is presented and the control performance of the praposed COA defuzzifier outperforms that of the conventional COA defuzzifier by more than 20% in terms of ayerage tracing distance.

  • In this paper we propose a calculation method for fuzzy control based on quantized $\alpha$-cut decomposition of fuzzy sets. This method is easy to be implemented in analog hardware. The effect of quantization levels on defuzzified fuzzy inference results is investigated. A few quantization levels are sufficient for fuzzy control. The hardware implementation of this calculation method and the defuzzification by gravity center method by PWM are also presented.

  • In a fuzzy control system to vocess fuzzy data in high-speed for intelligent systems, one of the important problems is the improvement of the execution speed in the fuzzy inference and defuzzification stages. Especially, it is more important to have high-speed operations in the consequent Pan and defuzzification stage. Therefore, in this paper, to improve the speedup of the fuzzy controllers for intelligent systems, we propose novel integer fuzzy operation method without mulitplications and divisions by only integer addition to convert real values in the fuzzy membership functions in the consequent part to integer grid pixels $(400{\times}30)$ without [0, 1] real operations. Also we apply the proposed system to the truck backer-upper control system. As a result, this system shows a real-time very high speed fuzzy control as compared as the conventional methods. This system will be applied to the real-time high-speed intelligent systems such as robot arm control.

  • This paper presents a method on applying Genetic Algorithm(GA), which is a well-known high performance optimizing algorithm, to construct the self-organizing fuzzy logic controller. Fuzzy logic controller considered in this paper utilizes Sugeno's hybrid inference method, which has an advantage of simple defuzzification process in the inference engine. Genetic algorithm is used to find the optimal parameters in the FLC. The proposed approach will be demonstrated using 2 d.o.f robot manipulator to verify its effectiveness.

  • PID controller is being used in many servo control systems. However, when a control system has disturbance or time variable characteristic, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of the system. In the way of solving this problem, in this paper, a control method using the PID controller with Fuzzy Logic Regulator is presented. Fuzzy Logic Regulator is designed by error and error change, the kth sampling control input is decided by the addition of the kth sampling defuzzification value and the (k-l)th sampling defuzzification value. Control input is transmitted to input. The robust control function of Fuzzy Logic Regulator is demonstrated by the computer simulation.

  • The Max-Min CRI method , a traditional inference method , has three problems: subjective formulation of membership functions, error-prone weighting strategy, and inefficient compositional rule of inference. Because of these problems, there is an insurmountable error region between desired output and inferred output. To overcome these problems, we propose an Intelligent Neuro-Fuzzy System (INFS) based on fuzzy thoery and self-organizing functions of neural networks. INFS makes use of neural networks(Error Back Propagation) to solve the first problem, and NCRI(New Max-Min CRI) method for the second. With a proposed similarity measure, NCRI method is an improved method compared to the traditional Max-Min CRI method. For the last problem, we propose a new defuzzification method which combines only the appropriate rules produced by the rule selection level. Applying INFS to a D.C. series motor, we can conclude that the error region is reduced and NCRI method performs better than Max-Min CRI method.

  • This study proposes a fuzzy inventory model for managing large-scale production, incorporating cost considerations. The model accounts for two types of expenditure scenarios-parametric and exponential. Uncertainty surrounds holding costs, setup costs, and demand rates. The approach considers a supply chain system with a complex manufacturing process, factoring in transportation costs based on the quantity of goods and distance between the supplier and retailer. The initial crisp model is then transformed into a fuzzy simulation, incorporating specific fuzzy variables affecting inventory costs. The proposed method significantly reduces overall inventory costs for the entire supply chain. Retailer demand is linked to inventory levels, and vendor/distributor storage deteriorates over time. The fuzzy condition assumes hexagonal variables for all associated factors. The study employs the signed distance method for defuzzification to determine the optimal order quantity with hexagonal fuzzy numbers. Mathematical examples are provided to illustrate the practicality of the proposed approach.

  • This paper introduces a novel neuro-fuzzy system based on the polynomial fuzzy neural network(PFNN) architecture. The PFNN consists of a set of if-then rules with appropriate membership functions whose parameters are optimized via a hybrid genetic algorithm. A polynomial neural network is employed in the defuzzification scheme to improve output performance and to select appropriate rules. A performance criterion for model selection, based on the Group Method of DAta Handling is defined to overcome the overfitting problem in the modeling procedure. The hybrid genetic optimization method, which combines a genetic algorithm and the Simplex method, is developed to increase performance even if the length of a chromosome is reduced. A novel coding scheme is presented to describe fuzzy systems for a dynamic search rang in th GA. For a performance assessment of the PFNN inference system, three well-known problems are used for comparison with other methods. The results of these comparisons show that the PFNN inference system outperforms the other methods while it exhibits exceptional robustness characteristics.
