In order to examine the deformation characteristics of Al circular pipe underthe biaxial compression, the horizontal biaxial compression die for the experiment was manufactured. From this, in the various compressive strain rate (1 mm/min. ${\sim}$ 400 mm/min.)conditions, the circular pipes, which were made by Al materials, were investigated based on the properties change of cross section area, punch load and deformation behavior. The tensile and compressive strains were evaluated from micro Vickers hardness tester. From these results, the punch load and deformation characteristic of Al circular pipes were highly changed in the compressive strain rate about 200 mm/min. The Al circular pipes had the tendency that the punch load decreased with increasing the compressive strain rate. In addition, following as the change of the shape and position of neutral axis due to the deformation proceeding of the circular pipe, the special point of the internal circular pipe at maximum load showed the maximum deformation strain and the maximum measured hardness value. The CAE (computer aided engineering) simulation using Deform-2D program was performed on the circular pipe in order to know and verify the exact compressive deformation behavior. From these results, the experimentally measured results were reasonably in good agreement with the simulation results.
In this study, the effect of Nb contents and processing parameters on dynamic recrystallization behaviour of 0.15C-0.2Si-0.5Mn low-carbon steels was investigated. Three kinds of steel specimens with different Nb contents were fabricated and then high-temperature compressive deformation test was conducted by varying reheating temperature (RT), deformation temperature (DT), and strain rate (SR). The Nb2 and Nb4 specimens containing Nb had smaller prior austenite grain size than the Nb0 specimens, presumably due to pinning effect by the formation of carbides and carbonitrides precipitates at austenite grain boundaries. The high-temperature compressive deformation test results showed that dynamic recrystallization behavior was suppressed in the specimens containing Nb as the strain rate increased and deformation temperature decreased because of pinning effect by precipitates, grain boundary dragging effects by solute atoms, although the compressive stress increased with increasing strain rate and decreasing deformation temperature.
The strain rate sensitivity index, m, plays an important role in plastic deformation at elevated temperatures. It is affected by strain rate, temperature, and the microstructure of the material. The strain rate sensitivity index has been used as a constant in numerical analysis of plastic forming at a specified strain rate and temperature. However, the value of m varies as deformation proceeds at an elevated temperature and a certain strain rate. Thus, in this present study, the value of m has been characterized as a function of strain by multiple tensile jump tests for AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet, and the variation of m has been discussed in conjunction with the microstructural observations before and after deformation. The experimental results show that the variation of m is dependent on the temperature and strain rate. Grain growth with dynamic recrystallization also affects the variation of m.
A phase mixture model was employed to simulate the deformation behaviour of metallic materials covering a wide grain size range from micrometer to nanometer scale. In this model a polycrystalline material is treated as a mixture of two phases: grain interior phase whose plastic deformation is governed by dislocation and diffusion mechanisms and grain boundary 'phase' whose plastic flow is controlled by a boundary diffusion mechanism. The main target of this study was the effect of grain size on stress and its strain rate sensitivity as well as on the strain hardening. Conventional Hall-Petch behaviour in coarse grained materials at high strain rates governed by the dislocation glide mechanism was shown to be replaced with inverse Hall-Petch behaviour in ultrafine grained materials at low strain rates, when both phases deform predominantly by diffusion controlled mechanisms. The model predictions are illustrated by examples from literature.

The continuous deformation , multistage deformation and stress relaxation were carried out to investigate the strain induced procipitation by torsion tests in the range of 1000∼800$^{\circ}C$, 0.05/sec∼5/sec for V-microalloyed steel. The starting temperature and time for the initiation of precipitation were determined by stress relaxation tests and the distribution of percipitates increased at higher strain rate and the mean size of precipitates was found to be about 50nm. The precipitation starting time decreased with increasing strain rate from 0.05/sec to 5 /sec and pre-strain. The effect of deformation conditions on the no-recrystallization temperature(Tnr) was determined in the multistage deformation with declining temerature. The Tnr decreased with increasing strain and strain rae. In the controlled rolling, grain refinement and precpitation hardening effects could be achieved by the alternative large pass strain at the latter half pass stage under the condition of low temperature and high strain rate.
The static softening behavior of SCM 440 could be characterized by the hot torsion test in the temperature ranges of 90$0^{\circ}C$~110$0^{\circ}C$and strain rate ranges of 0.05/sec~5/sec. Interrupted deformation was performed with 2 pass deformation in the pass strain ranges of 0.25$\varepsilon$p~3$\varepsilon$p and interrupted time ranges of 0.5~100sec. The dependences of process variables, pass strain ($\varepsilon$i), stain rate ($\varepsilon$), temperature (T) and interpass time (ti), on static recrystallization (SRX) and metadynamic recrystallization (MDRX)were individually predicted from the modified Avrami's equations, The dependence of pass strain on MDRX was neglectable. Comparison of the softening kinetics between MDRX and SRX showed that the rate of MDRX was more rapid than that of SRX for the same deformation variables. Controlled multipass deformations were performed using static and metadynamic recrystallization of SCM 440.
In the present work, the two back stress kinematic hardening models are proposed by combining Armstrong-Frederick, Phillips and Ziegler's hardening rules. Simple combination of hardening rules using simple rule of mixtures results in various evolutions of the kinematic hardening parameter. Using the combined hardening models the ultimate back stress fur the present models is also derived. The stress rate is co-rotated with respect to the spin of substructure due to the assumption of kinematic hardening rule in finite deformation regime. The work piece under consideration is assumed to consist of the elastic and the rigid plastic deformation zone. Then, the J2 deformation theory is facilitated to characterize the plastic deformation behavior under various loading conditions. The plastic deformation localization behaviors strongly depend on the constitutive description namely back stress evolution and its hardening parameters. Then, the analysis for Swift's effects under the fixed boundaries in axial directions is carried out using simple shear deformation.

A specific experimental method, the Split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) technique has been widely used to determine the dynamic material properties under the impact compressive loading conditions with strain rate of the order of 10$^3$/s∼l0$^4$/s. In this paper, dynamic deformation behaviors of rubber materials widely used for the isolation of vibration from structure under varying dynamic loading are determined by using plastic SHPB technique. A transition point to scope with the dynamic deformation behavior of rubber-like material is defined in this paper and used to characterize the specifics of the dynamic deformation of rubber materials.
Solid polymers exhibit rate-dependent deformation behavior such as nonlinear strain rate sensitivity and stress relaxation like metallic materials. Despite the different microstructures of polymeric and metallic materials, they have common properties with respect to inelastic deformation. Unlike most metallic materials, solid polymers and shape memory alloys (SMAs) exhibit highly nonlinear stress-strain behavior upon unloading. The present work employs the viscoplasticity theory [K. Ho, 2011, Trans. Mater. Process. 20, 350-356] developed for the pseudoelastic behavior of SMAs, which is based on unified state variable theory for the rate-dependent inelastic deformation behavior of typical metallic materials, to depict the curved unloading behavior of polyphenylene oxide (PPO). The constitutive equations are characterized by the evolution laws of two state variables that are related to the elastic modulus and the back stress. The simulation results are compared with the experimental data obtained by Krempl and Khan [2003, Int. J. Plasticity 19, 1069-1095].
The multistage deformation and stress relaxation were carried out to investigate the strain induced precipitation by torsion tests in the range of 1000~80$0^{\circ}C$, 0.05~5/sec for V-microalloyed steel. The starting temperature and time for the initiation of precipitation were determined by stress relaxation tests. The distribution of precipitates increased, as the strain rate increased and the mean size of precipitates was found to be about 10~30nm. The precipitation starting time$(P_s)$ decreased with increasing strain rate and the amount of pre-strain. The effect of deformation conditions on the no-recrystallization temperature$(T_nr)$ was also determined in the multistage deformation. $T_nr$ Tnr decreased with increasing the strain and strain rate. In the controlled rolling simulation, grain refinement and precipitation hardening effects could be achieved by the alternative large pass strain at the latter half pass stage under the condition of low temperature and high strain rate.
