  • The performance evaluation and deflection of 3 spans concrete simplicity slab bridge analyzed by non-destructive and loading test. Compressive strength of slab and pier appeared in the range of each 353∼366 kgf/$cm^2$ and 152∼215 kgf/$cm^2$ in rebound number test. Also, it appeared that concrete quality of slab was good after performance improvement. The average compressive strength of slab by core picking appeared 229 kg/$cm^2$. In reinforcing bar arrangement test of span and member, it appeared that horizontal and vertical reinforcing bar was arranged to fixed interval. The value of calculation deflection that carried structural analysis with deflection analysis wave in static loading test appeared higher than that of experimental deflection and it appeared that hardness of this bridge was good. Maximum impact factor that estimated from deflection by running speed in dynamic loading test appeared by 0.216 in 10 km/hr running speed.

  • This research analyzed dynamic responses of the preflex railroad bridge. Vertical deflection and acceleration induced by operating train loads and test train loads were measured. Deflection of bridge by train traveling satisfies deflection limitation regulation (L/800) about the concrete bridge, but compare with UIC standard, vibration acceleration happened fairly greatly. Also test result show that acceleration receives greatly effect about the speed than deflection. It must discuss about vibration acceleration problems for speed elevation hereafter.

  • In order for Hypoid gear development. Gears are required to sustain heavy loads or on applications where the gear box is made or a material with a different coefficient of thermal expansion form that or the gears and shafts, it is desirable to make a deflection and contact check under load. The deflection test is performed in the actual gear mounting using completely processed gear. This test should cover the full operating range of gear loads from no load to peak load. Under peak load the contact pattern should extend to the tooth boundaries without showing a concentration of the contact pattern at any point on the tooth surface.

  • GRP pipe (Glass-fiber Reinforced Plastic Pipe) lines making use of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) are generally thinner, lighter, and stronger than the existing concrete or steel pipe lines, and it is excellent in stiffness/strength per unit weight. In this study, we present the result of field test for buried GRP pipes with large diameter(2,400mm). The vertical and horizontal ring deflections are measured for 387 days. The short-term deflection measured by the field test is compared with the result predicted by the Iowa formula. In addition, the long-term ring deflection is predicted by using the procedure suggested in ASTM D 5365(ANNEX) in the range of 40 to 60 years of service life of the pipe based on the experimental results. From the study, it was found that the long-term vertical and horizontal ring deflection up to 60 years is less than the 5% ring deflection limitation.

  • This research deals with the process of conducting a reinforced concrete slab loading test of a Residential Complex Project at the Shatt Al Arab District which is located in southern Iraq. The purpose of the test which represents a destructive test is to evaluate the structural behavior of the slab condition state during and after the examination of the test process in order to ascertain the ability of the slab ceiling to withstand the loads generated during the use of the building. The test was carried out accordant to ACI 437.2-13 code. The reason for this test is the postponed 8 years of building project construction. Concrete blocks were used to simulate and conduct a loading test of 30-tons for 3 days. The central point has been installed to measure the slab deflection that occurred during the test. The results showed that both the total deflection and residual deflections were lesser than the permissible values according to the ACI 437.2-13, the RC slab behavior was mainly linear structural behave, and that the purpose of the examination was achieved. Finally, a new method was introduced to the assessment of the slab condition at the support which is found in good condition.

  • The pole side crash caused fatal injury by comparison with other crash impact mode such as frontal and rear crash. EuroNCAP proposed the pole side crash test using WorldSID(World Side Impact Dummy). The objective of this study is to develop the pole side impact sled test using dummy rib deflection between crash and sled test. In the pursuit of this purpose, we fabricated new pole side sled buck and test preliminary pole sled using ES-2re. Through this, we found the sled acceleration pulse scale. Hardness and thickness of the EPP affects the rib deflection. We conducted the pole sled test using WorldSID based on the preliminary results. As a result, rib deflection was shown to correlate well between crash test and pole side sled test.

  • The objective of this study is to estimate the mechanical behavior in bending and the anatomical changes of wood under several deflection rates. Sample specimens of water-saturated Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) were stressed to rupture under several deflection rates. Mechanical properties of wood such as modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture and stress at proportional limit, and anatomical changes affected by deflection rates were estimated. Microscopic observations on compression side of the test specimens when the specimen was loaded to rupture were carried out by the SEM (scanning electron microscopy). The results are summarized as follows: 1. The mechanical properties of wood were affected by variations of the deflection rates. The modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR) and stress at proportional limit were in proportion to the logarithm of deflection rates. 2. The deflection of wood at rupture in bending increased as deflection rates decreased. 3. The variations of the microscopic deformations of sample specimens were closely related to the deflection of wood at rupture. In case of largely deflected wood by maximum bending load, severe and abundant microscopic deformations were observed.

  • Load testing is one of the important tests to determine if the structural elements can be used at the intended locations for which they have been designed. It is nothing but gradually applying the loads and measuring the deflections and other parameters. It is usually carried out to determine the behaviour of the system under service/ultimate loads. It helps to identify the maximum load that the structural element can withstand without much deflection/deformation. It will also help find out which part of the element causes failure first. The load-deflection behaviour of the road bridge girder has been studied by carrying out the load test after simulating the field conditions to the extent possible. The actual vertical displacement of the beam at mid span due to the imposed load was compared with the theoretical deflection of the beam. Further, the recovery of deflection at mid span was also observed on removal of the test load. Finally, the beam was checked for any cracks to assert if the beam was capable of carrying the intended live loads and that it could be used with confidence.

  • Deflections of jointed concrete pavements at test road are monitored during 48 hours. And methods of calibration with respect to curling deflections are suggested. Relations between deflection ratio of center to joint at test time and deflection ratio of center at test time to center at reference time are described by regression. From deflections at test time, deflections transformed to reference time which gives minimum deflections in a day are estimated through regression curves and concluded to propose as a alternative method of curling calibration with more data accumulation.
