  • Efficacy of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR) Bacillus vallismortis strain EXTN-1 has been proved in eliciting induced systemic resistance(ISR) in several crops. The present paper described the beneficial effects of EXTN-1 in potato as increase in yield and chlorophyll content, and plant protection against Potato Virus Y and X(PVY & PVX). EXTN-1 induced systemic resistance to the plants resulting in significant disease suppression in the field. Also the plants under treatment with EXTN-1 had higher chlorophyll content. The bacterized plants had significantly higher yields over the untreated control plants. The strain induced activation of defense genes, PR-1a and PDF 1.2 in transgenic tobacco model, which indicated the possible role of both SA, and JA pathways in EXTN-1 mediated plant protection against crop diseases.

  • Functionally Graded Materials (FGM) as advanced heterogeneous composite materials have a higher performance than a conventional composite or bimaterial composite under some severe environments. As a heterogeneous material, FGM is commonly used in spacecraft, defense, nuclear and automotive industries due to its excellent properties. The purposes of this study are to evaluate the stress distribution and crack behaviors by the multiscale simulation. FGM contains two or more than two materials that the composition is structured continuously. Two types of FGM model are suggested, which are created by arbitrary prediction of the volume fraction and the exponential function. Aluminum as the metal matrix constituent and silicon carbide as the ceramic particle constituent are structured gradually by two types and the three point bending test also estimated. Moreover, two kinds of crack location were introduced in order to get the influences of material property distribution on the stress intensity factor. From the results we found that the stress intensity factors are increased in the case from softer to stiffer material, while vice versa.

  • The loss of strength in a structure as a result of cyclic loads over a period of life time is an important phenomenon for the life-cycle analysis. Service loads are accentuated at the areas of stress concentration, mainly at the connection of components. Structural components unavoidably are affected by defects such as surface scratches, surface roughness and weld defects of random sizes, which usually occur during the manufacturing and handling process. These defects are shown to have an important effect on the fatigue life of the structural components by promoting crack initiation sites. The value of equivalent initial flaw size (EIFS) is calculated by using the back extrapolation technique and the Paris law of fatigue crack growth from results of fatigue tests. We try to analyze the effect of EIFS distribution in a multiple site damage (MSD) specimen by using the extended finite element method (XFEM). For the analysis, fatigue tests were conducted on the centrally-cracked specimens and MSD specimens.

  • In this study, the high-velocity impact penetration behavior of $[45/0/-45/90]_{ns}$ carbon/epoxy composite laminates was studied. The considered configuration includes a spherical steel ball impacting clamped circular laminates with various thicknesses and diameters. First, the impact experiment was performed to measure residual velocity and extent of damage. Next, the impact experiment was numerically simulated through finite element analysis using LS-dyna. Three-dimensional solid elements were used to model each ply of the laminates discretely, and progressive material failure was modeled using MAT162. The result indicated that the finite element simulation yielded residual velocities and damage modes well-matched with those obtained from the experiment. It was found that fiber damage was localized near the impactor penetration path, while matrix and delamination damage were much more spread out with the damage mode showing a dependency on the orientation angles and ply locations. The ballistic-limit velocities obtained by fitting the residual velocities increased almost linearly versus the laminate diameter, but the amount of increase was small, showing that the impact energy was absorbed mostly by the localized impact damage and that the influence of the laminate size was not significant at high-velocity impact.

  • Software product line is a software product or a set of software system, which has common functions. We can develop a specific software product, which satisfies requirements of a particular market segment and a mission in a specific domain by reusing the core asset such as the developed software architecture through the software product line. Software development methodology based on the software product line can develop a software more easily and fast by reusing the developed software core asset. Developed countries of software technology select software product line as a core field of software production technology, and support technology development. In case of USA, CMU/SEI(Carnegie Mellon University/Software Engineering Institute) developed product-line framework 4.0 together with the industry and the Department of Defense. Europe is supporting the development of product line technology through ITEA(IT for European Advancement) program. However, industries in our country understand the necessity of software production technology based on product line concept for the purpose of increasing productivity, it is not sufficient to invest for this technology development. In this paper, we aim to construct the common architecture of software product line for production of the software product line.

  • This study set out to evaluate the fitness of shelter locations by taking into consideration service zones according to walking speed, the changing population between day and night, and walking routes. Walking speed was defined as 1.6 m/s, 2 m/s based on the cases of previous studies. The changing population between day and night was estimated with the dasymetric mapping technique. Shelter service zones according to walking speed and routes were analyzed with the network of the location allocation model. The findings show some shelters had limits with their capacity according to the changing floating population and walking speed in time and space and raise a need to appoint additional shelters.

  • Tungsten heavy metal is characterized bi a high density and novel combination of strength and ductility. Among them, 90W-7Ni-3Fe is used for applications, where the high specific weight of the material plays an important role. They are used as counterweights, rotating inertia members, as well as for defense purposes(kinetic energy penetrators, etc.). Because of these applications, it is essential to detemine the dynamic characteristics of tungsten alloy. In this paper, Explicit FEM(finite element method) is employed to investigate the dynamic characteristics of tungsten heavy metal under base of stress wave propagation theory for SHPB, and the model of specimen is divided into two parts to understand the phenomenon that stress wave penetrates through each tungsten base and matrix. This simulation results were compared to experimental one and through this program the dynamic stress-strain curve of tungsten heavy metal can be obtained using quasi static stress-strain curve of pure tungsten and matrix.

  • The main advantage of the TLM analysis method is the ease with which even the most complicated transmission line structures. In this paper, using symmetrical condensed node(SCN), the TLM numerical technique has been successfully a lied to microstrip meander line. A detailed technique of the symmetrical condensed node(SCN) may be used to model planar microstrip transmission line is presented. Also, the S-parameters $S_{11}$ and $S_{21}$ of two types of microstrip meander line have been computed. From obtained results, TLM analysis is shown to be an efficient method for modeling complicated structure of planar microstrip transmission line. The TLM results presented here are useful in the design of microwave integrated circuits at higher frequencies region.

  • Malware propagated via the World Wide Web is one of the most dangerous tools in the realm of cyber-attacks. Its methodologies are effective, relatively easy to use, and are developing constantly in an unexpected manner. As a result, rapidly detecting malware propagation websites from a myriad of webpages is a difficult task. In this paper, we present LoGos, an automated high-interaction dynamic analyzer optimized for a browser-based Windows virtual machine environment. LoGos utilizes Internet Explorer injection and API hooks, and scrutinizes malicious behaviors such as new network connections, unused open ports, registry modifications, and file creation. Based on the obtained results, LoGos can determine the maliciousness level. This model forms a very lightweight system. Thus, it is approximately 10 to 18 times faster than systems proposed in previous work. In addition, it provides high detection rates that are equal to those of state-of-the-art tools. LoGos is a closed tool that can detect an extensive array of malicious webpages. We prove the efficiency and effectiveness of the tool by analyzing almost 0.36 M domains and 3.2 M webpages on a daily basis.

  • Since the emergence of the fourth industrial revolution, data analysis is being conducted in various fields. Distributed data processing has already become essential for the fast processing of large amounts of data. However, in the defense sector, simulation used cannot fully utilize the unstructured data which are prevailing at real environments. In this study, we propose a distributed data processing platform that can be applied to battalion level simulation models to provide visualized data for command decisions during training. 500,000 data points of strategic game were analyzed. Considering the winning factors in the data, variance processing was conducted to analyze the data for the top 10% teams. With the increase in the number of nodes, the model becomes scalable.
