Land monitoring involves systematically understanding changes in land use, leveraging spatial information such as satellite imagery and aerial photographs. Recently, the integration of deep learning technologies, notably object detection and semantic segmentation, into land monitoring has spurred active research. This study developed a web service to facilitate such integrations, allowing users to analyze aerial and drone images using CNN models. The web service architecture comprises AI, WEB/WAS, and DB servers and employs three primary deep learning models: DeepLab V3, YOLO, and Rotated Mask R-CNN. Specifically, YOLO offers rapid detection capabilities, Rotated Mask R-CNN excels in detecting rotated objects, while DeepLab V3 provides pixel-wise image classification. The performance of these models fluctuates depending on the quantity and quality of the training data. Anticipated to be integrated into the LX Corporation's operational network and the Land-XI system, this service is expected to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of land monitoring.

Accurate classification of cloud images is a challenging task. Almost all the existing methods rely on hand-crafted feature extraction. Their limitation is low discriminative power. In the recent years, deep learning with convolution neural networks (CNNs), which can auto extract features, has achieved promising results in many computer vision and image understanding fields. However, deep learning approaches usually need large datasets. This paper proposes a deep learning approach for classification of cloud image patches on small datasets. First, we design a suitable deep learning model for small datasets using a CNN, and then we apply data augmentation and dropout regularization techniques to increase the generalization of the model. The experiments for the proposed approach were performed on SWIMCAT small dataset with k-fold cross-validation. The experimental results demonstrated perfect classification accuracy for most classes on every fold, and confirmed both the high accuracy and the robustness of the proposed model.

In the industrial field, robots are used to increase productivity by replacing labors with dangerous, difficult, and hard tasks. However, failures of individual industrial robots in the entire production process may cause product defects or malfunctions, and may cause dangerous disasters in the case of manufacturing parts used in automobiles and aircrafts. Although requirements for early diagnosis of industrial robot failures are steadily increasing, there are many limitations in early detection. This paper introduces methods for diagnosing robot failures using sound-based data and deep learning. This paper also analyzes, compares, and evaluates the performance of failure diagnosis using various deep learning technologies. Furthermore, in order to improve the performance of the fault diagnosis system using deep learning technology, we propose a method to increase the accuracy of fault diagnosis based on an inference window. When adopting the inference window of deep learning, the accuracy of the failure diagnosis was increased up to 94%.

In order to replace the sampling tensile test of products produced in the tab welding process, which is one of the automotive battery manufacturing processes, vision inspectors are currently being developed and used. However, the vision inspection has the problem of inspection position error and the cost of improving it. In order to solve these problems, there are recent cases of applying deep learning technology. As one such case, this paper tries to examine the usefulness of applying Faster R-CNN, one of the deep learning technologies, to existing product inspection. The images acquired through the existing vision inspection machine are used as training data and trained using the Faster R-CNN ResNet101 V1 1024x1024 model. The results of the conventional vision test and Faster R-CNN test are compared and analyzed based on the test standards of 0% non-detection and 10% over-detection. The non-detection rate is 34.5% in the conventional vision test and 0% in the Faster R-CNN test. The over-detection rate is 100% in the conventional vision test and 6.9% in Faster R-CNN. From these results, it is confirmed that deep learning technology is very useful for detecting welding error of lead tabs in automobile batteries.

Deep learning is another field of artificial intelligence (AI) utilized for computer aided diagnosis (CAD) and image processing in scientific research. Considering numerous mechanical repetitive tasks, reading image slices need time and improper with geographical limits, so the counting of image information is hard due to its strong subjectivity that raise the error ratio in misdiagnosis. Regarding the highest mortality rate of Lung cancer, there is a need for biopsy for determining its class for additional treatment. Deep learning has recently given strong tools in diagnose of lung cancer and making therapeutic regimen. However, identifying the pathological lung cancer's class by CT images in beginning phase because of the absence of powerful AI models and public training data set is difficult. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was proposed with its essential function in recognizing the pathological CT images. 472 patients subjected to staging FDG-PET/CT were selected in 2 months prior to surgery or biopsy. CNN was developed and showed the accuracy of 87%, 69%, and 69% in training, validation, and test sets, respectively, for T1-T2 and T3-T4 lung cancer classification. Subsequently, CNN (or deep learning) could improve the CT images' data set, indicating that the application of classifiers is adequate to accomplish better exactness in distinguishing pathological CT images that performs better than few deep learning models, such as ResNet-34, Alex Net, and Dense Net with or without Soft max weights.
Purpose: The aim of the current study was to develop a computer-assisted detection system based on a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm and to evaluate the potential usefulness and accuracy of this system for the diagnosis and prediction of periodontally compromised teeth (PCT). Methods: Combining pretrained deep CNN architecture and a self-trained network, periapical radiographic images were used to determine the optimal CNN algorithm and weights. The diagnostic and predictive accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, area under the ROC curve, confusion matrix, and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using our deep CNN algorithm, based on a Keras framework in Python. Results: The periapical radiographic dataset was split into training (n=1,044), validation (n=348), and test (n=348) datasets. With the deep learning algorithm, the diagnostic accuracy for PCT was 81.0% for premolars and 76.7% for molars. Using 64 premolars and 64 molars that were clinically diagnosed as severe PCT, the accuracy of predicting extraction was 82.8% (95% CI, 70.1%-91.2%) for premolars and 73.4% (95% CI, 59.9%-84.0%) for molars. Conclusions: We demonstrated that the deep CNN algorithm was useful for assessing the diagnosis and predictability of PCT. Therefore, with further optimization of the PCT dataset and improvements in the algorithm, a computer-aided detection system can be expected to become an effective and efficient method of diagnosing and predicting PCT.

Reinforcement learning can be applied to a wide variety of problems. However, the fundamental limitation of reinforcement learning is that it is difficult to derive an answer within a given time because the problems in the real world are too complex. Then, with the development of neural network technology, research on deep reinforcement learning that combines deep learning with reinforcement learning is receiving lots of attention. In this paper, two types of neural networks are combined with reinforcement learning and their characteristics were compared and analyzed with existing value-based reinforcement learning algorithms. Two types of neural networks are FNN and CNN, and existing reinforcement learning algorithms are SARSA and Q-learning.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm for memory optimization to apply deep learning to PC. The proposed algorithm minimizes the memory and computation processing time by reducing the amount of computation processing and data required in the conventional deep learning structure in a general PC. The algorithm proposed in this paper consists of three steps: a convolution layer configuration process using a random filter with discriminating power, a data reduction process using PCA, and a CNN structure creation using SVM. The learning process is not necessary in the convolution layer construction process using the discriminating random filter, thereby shortening the learning time of the overall deep learning. PCA reduces the amount of memory and computation throughput. The creation of the CNN structure using SVM maximizes the effect of reducing the amount of memory and computational throughput required. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we experimented with Yale University's Extended Yale B face database. The results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper has a similar performance recognition rate compared with the existing CNN algorithm. And it was confirmed to be excellent. Based on the algorithm proposed in this paper, it is expected that a deep learning algorithm with many data and computation processes can be implemented in a general PC.

Image noise classification is a classical problem in the field of image processing, machine learning, deep learning and computer vision. In this paper, image noise classification is performed using deep learning. Keras deep learning library of TensorFlow is used for this purpose. 6900 images images are selected from the Kaggle database for the classification purpose. Dataset for labeled noisy images of multiple type was generated with the help of Matlab from a dataset of non-noisy images. Labeled dataset comprised of Salt & Pepper, Gaussian and Sinusoidal noise. Different training and tests sets were partitioned to train and test the model for image classification. In deep neural networks CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) is used due to its in-depth and hidden patterns and features learning in the images to be classified. This deep learning of features and patterns in images make CNN outperform the other classical methods in many classification problems.
