  • It is introduced an approach to model for numerical analysis of a sound absorbing material that has different absorbing coefficient according to frequency. For modeling of a sound absorbing material, we tried to model by a traditional modeling method. But it had large differences on frequency domain, especially a capacitance component due to increasing of frequency. We approach to model a sound absorbing material by the Debye polarization technique with non-linear least square method. At first, we estimated parameters form a polyurethane with thickness 25 mm, then we could model a polyurethane with thickness 50 mm using same parameters. Therefor, we could find that the Debye polarization is an useful way to model sound absorbing materials.

  • The mechanical properties of α-Na3(U0.84(2),Na0.16(2))O4 have been researched using the first-principles calculations combined with the quasi-harmonic Debye model. The obtained lattice parameters agree well with the published experimental data. The results of elastic constants indicate that α-Na3(U0.84(2),Na0.16(2))O4 is mechanically stable. The polycrystalline moduli are predicted. The results show that the α-Na3(U0.84(2),Na0.16(2))O4 exhibits brittleness and possesses obvious elastic anisotropy. The hardness shows that it can be considered a "soft material". Furthermore, the Debye temperature θD and the minimum thermal conductivity kmin are also discussed, respectively. Finally, the thermal expansion coefficient α, isobaric heat capacity CP and isochoric heat capacity CV are evaluated through the quasi-harmonic Debye model.

  • This paper presents the extraction scheme of the scattered waves by a target above the ground using the buried antenna in a lossy and dispersive medium. The half wave dipole antennas are used to transmit and to receive a signal. The transmission line model as a feeding model is considered to take into account the effect of transmission line in a real system. The ground is modeled by the 2nd order Debye approximation with the dispersion and loss. PLRC algorithm and DPML as absorbing boundary condition are utilized to apply the 2nd order Debye approximation to FDTD. To extract the scattered wave, in addition, we employed the delay time extraction algorithm. The simulations are conducted to observe the variation of magnitude in scattered wave and detection of target position according to the change of moisture content of the lossy medium.

  • A model for the phonon dispersion relationship for cubic zinc sulfide structure, for example SiC, is developed in terms of two unknown force constants. Born model that incorporates bond bending and bond stretching, is used for the force constants. The force constants are determined by fitting to experimental data. Using only the nearest-neighbor coupling results in $6{\times}6$ sized dynamic matrix. The eigenvalues of dynamics matrix for each wavenumber in 3-D ${\kappa}$ space correspond to frequencies, 3 for optical phonon and 3 for acoustic phonon, which is so-called dispersion relation (${\kappa}$-${\omega}$). The density of state is determined by counting the states for each frequency bin, and the properties such as specific heat and thermal conductivity can be obtained. The specific heat is estimated on this model and compared with experiment and other models, i.e. Debye model, Einstein model and combined Debye-Einstein model. In spite of the simple bond potential model, reasonable agreements are found.

  • Upon Debye's dielectric relaxation theory, we tried simple determination method of trap level in organic EL materials. From dielectric measurements in the 20 Hz - 1 MHz frequency range and in the 150 K - 320K temperature range, the depth of traps in Alq$_3$ filled with remaining electrons was determinated. Comparing to other determination techniques like TSL, or TL, the apparatus all we need is just simple LCR meter, thermometer and cooling method(liquid nitrogen). The mean activation energy is about 0.20 eV. It is in good agreement with previous determinations by other techniques like TSL. This results consolidate the validity of Burrow's transport mechanism model. Further intensified experiment with UV light on the dielectric absorption(Photodipolair effect) was nevertheless disturbed by the photoconductivity component.

  • In this paper, the SA (Specific Absorption) distribution in a human head, exposed to wideband pulse EMF, has been analyzed by taking into account the dispersion characteristics of biological tissues. The dispersive properties of biological tissues are characterized by the 4th Cole-Cole model. Currently, there is no dispersive FDTD algorithm to implement the 4th Cole-Cole model accurately. Thus, in this paper the FDTD methods with the dispersive algorithm for the 1st-order Cole-Cole model and the 3rd-order Debye model were used for SA analysis. The validity of each model has been investigated first, and then the effects of dispersion on SA distribution have been studied.

  • When the lightning current is injected to the ground system of information and communication facilities, analysis of the transient potential rise in the ground system is one of main factors to effectively design the ground system. The performance of grounding systems is normally estimated with the grounding impedance and the transient potential rise which represents the electrical characteristics of the grounding system. The method for calculating the grounding impedance depending on the injection point of the lightning current was proposed. The delta-gap source model was proposed to calculate the grounding impedance in the case that the lightning current is injected to the center of the horizontal ground electrode. A new program which is possible to apply the frequency-dependent soil parameters using the Debye model was developed, because a commercial program for analyzing the performance of the grounding system can not apply to the frequency-dependent soil parameters. The experiment was carried out to confirm the availability of the simulation results with the same condition. Finally, the transient potential rises of a horizontal ground electrode depending on the lightning current waveforms were analyzed by using the results of the grounding impedance which is associated with the frequency-dependent soil parameters.

  • The parameters of Debye's equation were applied to analyze the frequency-dependent ground impedance of horizontally-buried wires. We present a new method, based on Debye's equation, of analyzing the effect of polarization on frequency-dependent ground impedance. The frequency-dependent ground impedances of a horizontally-buried wire are directly measured and calculated by applying sinusoidal current in the frequency range of 100 Hz to 10 MHz. Also, the results obtained in this work were compared with the data calculated from empirical equations and commercial programs. A new methodology using the delta-gap source model is proposed in order to calculate frequency-dependent ground impedance when the ground current is injected at the middle-point of the horizontal ground electrode. The high frequency ground impedance of horizontal electrodes longer than 30 m is larger or equal to its low frequency ground resistance. Consequently, the frequency-dependent ground impedance simulated with the proposed method is in agreement with the experimental data, and the validity of the computational simulation approach is confirmed.

  • L $i_{0.5}$F $e_{2.5-{\chi}}$R $h_{\chi}$ $O_4$ ($\chi$ = 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00) has been prepared by solid state reaction. Crystallographic and magnetic properties were investigated by Mossbauer spectroscopy, SQUID magnetometry, and x-ray diffraction. The crystal structure is found to be a cubic spinel structure with space group Fd3m for all the samples. The lattice constant $a_{0}$ increases from 8.3365 $\AA$ to 8.3932 $\AA$ with increasing Rh concentration $\chi$. The migration of Li ion has been confirmed by x-ray patterns and the results of applied field Mossbauer analysis. The temperature dependence of the absorption area of each site was analyzed with the Debye model for the recoil-free fraction. The Debye temperature for the octahedral sites is almost as large as for the tetrahedral sites, thereby suggesting similar inter-atomic binding forces for the octahedral and the tetrahedral sites. The saturated magnetic moment and the Mossbauer spectra taken at 4.2 K under the applied field (6 T) show that the spin structure of L $i_{0.5}$F $e_{2.5-{\chi}}$R $h_{\chi}$ $O_4$ is compatible with the collinear Neel Model.

  • In this paper, we propose the modeling of the power/ground plane which includes complex dielectric permittivity and loss tangent for the power/ground coupled noise. In order to estimate the effects of the dielectric substrate for the coupled noise, we used full-wave simulators, HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulation) and MWS(MicroWave Studio). The simulated results for the commercial substrates are compared with the measured values. TLM(Transmission Line Method) was used for the calculation of power plane impedance using Debye model which depicts the dielectric loss of PCB. Finally, impedance from proposed circuit model showed very good coincidence to the measured data.
