  • This paper presents an Neural Network(NN) controller for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of PV supplied DC motor. A variation of solar irradiation is most important factor in the MPPT of PV system. That is nonlinear, aperiodic and complicated. NN was widely used due to easily solving a complex math problem. Proposed photovoltaic system consists of NN, DC-DC converter, DC motor and load(cf, pump). NN algorithm apply to DC-DC converter through an Adaptive control of Neural Network, calculates Converter-Chopping ratio using an Adaptive control of NN. The results of an Adaptive control of NN compared with the results of Converter-Chopping ratio which are calculated mathematical modeling and evaluate the proposed algorithm. The experimental data show that an adequacy of the algorithm was established through the compared data.

  • DC-DC converter which composed of LLC resonant converter, operated by fixed switching frequency with fixed duty cycle (50%), and flyback converter to provide constant output voltage($400V_{DC}$) with variation of input voltage($30-60V_{DC}$) is proposed in this paper. To obtain constant output voltage($400V_{DC}$), flyback converter is not operated in case of above the maximum input voltage($60V_{DC}$) and operated as the input voltage decreases to below 60VDC. Therefore, flyback converter can be designed to the 50% power rating of the maximum power in the proposed DC-DC converter. Operation modes and voltage gain characteristics were analyzed and a 360W prototype converter was tested to verify the proposed converter.

  • This paper presents a high efficiency half-bridge DC-DC converter for an LED backlight drive system of LCD module inspection equipment. The proposed converter improves the converter efficiency using characteristics of the asymmetrical half-bridge converter and the self-driven synchronous rectifier, and thus improves the total efficiency of the LED backlight drive system. The synchronous rectifier applied to the proposed converter is the new topological synchronous rectifier, which changes slightly the transformer structure and the synchronous switch connection in the asymmetrical half-bridge converter with a conventional self-driven synchronous rectifier. Since the proposed converter utilizes the transformer leakage inductor as its resonant inductor, its structure is simplified. The proposed converter well operates under the universal DC input voltage ($250{\sim}380V$). The operational principle and a design example for a 100W prototype are discussed in detail, respectively. Experimental results are shown for the designed prototype converter under universal DC input voltage.

  • This paper proposes a new soft switching single stage AC/DC full bridge converter with unit power factor and isolated output. This circuit shows that it is possible to combine the boost converter which is for PFC(Power Factor Correction) and full bridge converter which is for DC/DC converter. A simple auxiliary circuit which includes neither lossy components nor active switches eliminates ringing of secondary side of the transformer. The characteristics of the proposed circuit are investigated and the validity is verified by the simulation results.

  • A new primary-side-assisted zero-voltage and zero-current switching (ZVZCS) three-level DC-DC converter with flying capacitor is proposed. The three-level converters are promising in high voltage applications, and ZVZCS is a very effective means for reducing switching losses. The proposed DC-DC converter uses only one auxiliary transformer and two diodes to obtain ZCS for the inner leg. It has a simple and robust structure, and offers soft-switching capability even in short-switching conditions. The proposed converter was verified by experiments in a 6KW prototype designed for communication applications and operating at 100kHz.

  • In this paper, a new three-port multidirectional DC-DC converter is proposed for integrating an energy storage system (ESS) to a bipolar DC microgrid (BPDCMG). The proposed converter provides a voltage-balancing function for the BPDCMG and adjusts the charge of the ESS. Thanks to the multi-functional operation of the proposed converter, the conversion stages of the system are reduced. In addition, the efficiency and weight of the system are improved. Therefore, this converter has a significant capability when it comes to use in portable BPDCMGs such as electric DC ships. The converter modes are analyzed and small-signal models of the converter in each of the independent modes are extracted. Finally, comprehensive simulation studies are carried out and a BPDCMG laboratory prototype is implemented in order to verify the performance of the proposed voltage balancer using the burst mode control scheme.

  • This paper presents a simple input-constrained current controller for a DC/DC boost converter with stability analysis that considers the nonlinearity of the converter model. The proposed controller is designed to satisfy the inherent input constraints of the converter under a physically reasonable assumption, which is the first contribution of this paper. The second contribution is providing a rigorous proof of the proposed control law, which keeps the closed-loop system along with the internal dynamics stable. The performance of the proposed controller is demonstrated through an experiment employing a 20-kW DC/DC boost converter.

  • This study deals with a bidirectional interleaved soft switching DC-DC converter for a wide range of input voltages. The proposed converter operates in complementary switching with the purpose of inductor size reduction and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) operation. The current ripple related to complementary switching is minimized by three-phase interleaved operation. The main characteristics of the proposed topology are its soft-switching method of operation and its simple structure. The soft-switching operation and the system efficiency of the proposed converter are verified by experimental results.

  • This paper presents a new high step-up dc/dc converter for renewable energy systems in which a high voltage gain is provided by using a coupled inductor. The operation of the proposed converter is based on a charging capacitor with a single power switch in its structure. A passive clamp circuit composed of capacitors and diodes is employed in the proposed converter for lowering the voltage stress on the power switch as well as increasing the voltage gain of the converter. Since the voltage stress is low in the provided topology, a switch with a small ON-state resistance can be used. As a result, the losses are decreased and the efficiency is increased. The operating principle and steady-states analyses are discussed in detail. To confirm the viability and accurate performance of the proposed high step-up dc-dc converter, several simulation and experimental results obtained through PSCAD/EMTDC software and a built prototype are provided.
