  • An archiving system designed to enable documenting database of astronomical images, with functions of search and download, is being developed by Korean Astronomical Data Center(KADC) of Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute(KASI). The system consists of three PCs for web server, database server, and system management server. The search program for the web environment is operated in the web server. In the management server, several utility program we developed are installed: input program for the database, program for transfer from fits to jpg files, program for data recovery and management, and programs for statistics and connect management. The collected data would be sorted out by the system manager to input into the database. The online input is possible in an observatory where the data is produced. We applied the content management system(CMS) module for the database management. On the basic of CMS module, we set up a management system for the whole life cycle of metadata from creation and collection to storage and deletion of the data. For the search function, we employed a technique to extract indices from the metadata. In addition, MySQL is adopted for DBMS. We currently display about 2,700 and 25,000 photographs for astronomical phenomena and astronomical objects on the data, respectively.

  • Purpose: This study intends to make a database for hypertensive patients and middle-aged women who are visiting the Yeojoo County Health Center. While building up the database, the study reviewed the current assessment tools used in the health center, developed appropriate health care programs, and designed a computerized health care system. Method: The modeling of a database for the system was constructed by MS-Access for DBMS (Database Management System) and Visual Basic. The system is to be used only in the health center by being designed as a client server method, making it possible for many public employees to be interconnected, and enables them to retrieve and search data from the database simultaneously. Results: The health management system systematically follows nursing processes including assessment, diagnosis, intervention and evaluation. Diagnosis. once it is done according to the self determined criteria, saves time and provides appropriate health information for the members. Also, the health education program was developed to follow up on the health status of the members on a continuous basis. Conclusion: Based on these results, it is required to evaluate health care programs provided for the members by using the database system and to develop more practical health care programs. It is also necessary to connect the system to other databases. which contain information about members.

  • Many people are the latest interested in the integration of the WWW and database systems. The UCM(United CGI Management) system, which is proposed on this study, is based on the method using CGI that does not change existing servers and clients to integrate the WWW and database system. Since the CGI executable architecture executes a CGI program whenever the database is accessed, the system performance is reduced greatly when many request to the database are made simultaneously. However, the UCM system improves the system performance since it uses the integrated CGI running a daemon process. Moreover, the proposed system can use the WWW database more economically and doesn't use the SQL because it does not use a DBMS. In UCM system, we define the extended HTML tags to implement the WWW database interface and use the EXODUS storage manager for accessing the database.

  • Database encryption is one of the important mechanisms for prohibiting internal malicious users and outside hackers from utilizing data. Frequent occurrences of encryption and decryption cause degradation of database performance so that many factors should be considered in implementing encryption system. In this paper, we propose an architecture of database encryption system and data encryption module. In addition we suggest extended SQL in order to manage data encryption and decryption. In implementing database encryption system, we adopt ARIA encryption algorithm which is proved to be the most fast one among Korea standardized encryption algorithm. We use an single key for each database in encrypting data rather than using several keys in order to improve performance. Research over performance evaluation of database encryption system is rare up to now. Based on our implemented system, we provide performance evaluation results over various H/W platforms and compare performance differences between plain text and encrypted data.

  • In this study, we analyzed applicability of object database, designed the concept model based on object-oriented idea for measurement data management, and applied the design model to object database. The concept model composes three sub models Infrastructure managing information model, Infrastructure measurement data model, and Measurement unit model. The process to expand measurement data of new type was executed easily without changing database schema in object database.   • Building materials have a great impact on the health of a building's occupants. Thus, it is imperative that their health-related properties be taken into during the course of construction project. Unfortunately, no current database system exists that can provide information on the health performance of building materials at each stage of construction project management, from planning and design to building and maintenance. therefore, an inordinate amount of time and effort is required to choose the right health-friendly materials(DBHM). To solve this problem, this study aims at building a database management system for health-friendly building materials. It analyzes the health-related properties and performance of various materials, and proposes a database structure and operation algorithm. The system proposed in this study is expected to contribute to the objective evaluation of health-friendly building materials through the accumulation of relevant data.

  • In this paper, we propose a scheme of database management to administer gathered data in schoolzone system. By using image sensor and GPS sensor gathered image and coordination information is transferred to the system server through the networks that it is managed by the database to analyze the situation recognition. Schoolzone system implements the analysis of specific scenario to gathered data of database so that its results and corresponding implementation is reported to monitoring server and their results have been stored.

  • Network security should be first considered in a distributed computing environment with frequent information interchange through internet. Clear classification is needed for information users should protect and for information open outside. Basically proper encrypted database system should be constructed for information security, and security policy should be planned for each site. This paper describes access control, user authentication, and User Security and Encryption technology for the construction of database security system from network users. We propose model of network encrypted database security system for combining these elements through the analysis of operational and technological elements. Systematic combination of operational and technological elements with proposed model can construct encrypted database security system secured from unauthorized users in distributed computing environment.
