  • As the importance and the need for network security is increased, many organization uses the various security systems. They enable to construct the consistent integrated security environment by sharing the vulnerable information among firewall, intrusion detection system, and vulnerable scanner. And Policy-based network provides a means by which the management process can be simplified and largely automated. In this article we build a foundation of policy-based network modeling environment. The procedure and structure for policy rule induction from vulnerabilities stored in SVDB (Simulation based Vulnerability Data Based) is conducted. It also transforms the policy rules into PCIM (Policy Core Information Model).

  • The concurrent engineering technologies have been broadly used in the field of the design, testing, manufacturing and maintenance works to reduce development time and costs. For this purpose, many design environments with the product data management system, the virtual engineering system and web database system are developed. In this research, we developed the driving simulator of the KTX(Korea Train Express) as a basic study for building the concurrent engineering design environment of rolling stock. The virtual track was developed from the Seoul to the Busan and the Daejeon to Mockpo to generate immersible driving environment. Also. fault generation systems were developed to educate drivers of the KTX. We expect to reduce the time and costs of newly developed rolling stock using the design environment developed in the research.

  • We developed a multi-lingual namecard recognizer for building up a global client management systems. At first, we created the Unicode-based character image database for character recognition and learning of multi languages, and applied many color image processing techniques to get more correct data for namecard images which were acquired by various input devices. And by applying multi-layer perceptron neural network, individual character recognition applied for language types, and post-processing utilizing keyword databases made for individual languages, we increased a recognition rate for multi-lingual namecards.

  • In this paper, an engineering database management system(EDMS) has been developed to support the system engineering for design of the high speed titling train to be put into the conventional lines. The developed system can be operated on client-server or web circumstances. To accomplish the concurrent engineering in design of the rolling stocks, this system has been fully equipped with a powerful viewer and a postprocessor for 3D CAD data or FE results. The system was tested using the engineering data produced during carrying out the G7 project to design KHST(Korean High Speed Train) in a crashworthy viewpoint. Through this example, it is shown that the system should be powerfully applied to improving the performance of the system engineering.

  • This paper focuses on how modem data mining can be integrated with real-time relational databases and commercial data warehouses to improve reliability in real-time. An important Issue for many manufacturers is the development of relational databases that link key product attributes with real-time process parameters. Helpful data for key product attributes in manufacturing may be derived from destructive reliability testing. Destructive samples are taken at periodic time intervals during manufacturing, which might create a long time-gap between key product attributes and real-time process data. A case study is briefly summarized for the medium density fiberboard (MDF) industry. MDF is a wood composite that is used extensively by the home building and furniture manufacturing industries around the world. The cost of unacceptable MDF was as large as 5% to 10% of total manufacturing costs. Prevention can result In millions of US dollars saved by using better Information systems.

  • The high-performance processors have recently employed sophisticated techniques to overlap and simultaneously execute multiple computation and memory operations. For the query processing of database management systems, those hardware characteristics are the important research issue. The latest works show that the cache miss penalty between main memory and CPU becomes new bottlenecks and the branch misprediction causes serious resource-waste. An effcient algorithm for query processing of aggregate functions considering these hardware characteristics was proposed in this dissertation.

  • Financial markets are operating 24 hours a day throughout the world and interrelated in increasingly complex ways. Telecommunications and computer networks tie together markets in the from of electronic entities. Financial practitioners are inundated with an ever larger stream of data, produced by the rise of sophisticated database technologies, on the rising number of market instruments. As conventional analytic techniques reach their limit in recognizing data patterns, financial firms and institutions find neural network techniques to solve this complex task. Neural networks have found an important niche in financial a, pp.ications. We a, pp.y neural networks to Standard and Poor's (S&P) 500 stock index futures trading to predict the futures marker behavior. The results through experiments with a commercial neural, network software do su, pp.rt future use of neural networks in S&P 500 stock index futures trading.

  • We are developing a teleconference system based on 3D medical image. The system consists in three sub-systems : conference operating system, medical image processing system and database management system. It makes it possible efficient computer-supported coorperative work among remote multi-located hospitals. In this paper, we present functions of each subsystem that have implemented until now.

  • Currently many researches are going on a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) which can handle a large number of image data very efficiently. However, the price of those systems are very expensive to a small and medium hospital. In this paper, we developed a PC based Mini-PACS at a low price with a high performance. The main components of the designed system are: Image processing and display for a diagnosis, Client/Server database management system, Multi-monitor display system, Connection through the World Wide Web with Common Gateway Interface.

  • According to the widespread use of ontology-based applications, it is critical to efficiently store and process semantic information. Even though several related systems have been developed, they have some limitations in perspectives of the volume of target semantic data, the performance of semantic query processing, and the semantic data maintenance. In this paper we propose the OWL-aware relational model for the ontology management system and SQL-based semantic query processing mechanism. Also, to verify the query processing performance, we show that the proposed query professing mechanism is more efficient than sesame.
