  • In the Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR)/Global Positioning System (GPS)/Wi-Fi-integrated navigation system for indoor/outdoor continuous positioning of pedestrians, the process of detecting outliers in measurements is very important. When accurate location information from measurements is used, reliable correction data can be generated during the fusion filtering process. However, abnormal measurements may occur in certain situations, such as indoor/outdoor transitions, which can degrade filter performance and lead to significant errors in the estimated position. To address this issue, this paper proposes a method for detecting outliers in measurements based on Rényi Divergence (RD). When the deviation of the RD value is large, the measurements are considered outliers, and positioning is performed using only pure PDR. Based on experiments conducted with real data, it was confirmed that outliers were effectively detected for abnormal measurements, leading to an improvement in the performance of pedestrian navigation.

  • It requires a lot of time and effort for general users who do not have enough understanding of GPS to properly processing GPS data. However, the GPS data processing field heavily relies on foreign-produced software and there is almost no development of user-oriented technology. Therefore, in this study, it was attempted to build an expert service that enables non-experts to use high-precision GPS data processing. As a result, an expert service that can maximize user convenience simply by entering the minimum required information for GPS data processing was developed, and the expert service was verified by relative positioning processing of the observation data of satellite control point provided by National Geographic Information Institute and observation data obtained by GPS survey. The expert service significantly reduces the effort and time for processing GPS data, which will contribute to precise positioning and other various studies.

  • Recently, a technique for acquiring spatial information data using UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) has been greatly developed. It is a very crucial issue of the GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping system that passes way point in the unmanned airframe and finally measures the accurate image and stable localization to the desired destination. Though positioning using DGPS (Differential Global Navigation System) or RTK-GPS (Real Time Kinematic-GPS) guarantee highly accurate, they are more expensive than the construction of a single positioning system using a single GPS. In the case of a low-priced single GPS system, the stability of the positioning data deteriorates. Therefore, it is necessary to supplement the uncertainty of the absolute position data of the UAV and to improve the accuracy of the current position data economically in the operating state of the UAV. The aim of this study was to present an algorithm enhancing the stability of position data in a single GPS mode of UAV with multiple GPS. First, the arrangement of multiple GPS receivers through the center of gravity of the UAV were examined. Next, MD (Mahalanobis Distance) is applied to detect instantaneous errors of GPS data in advance and eliminate outliers to increase the accuracy of previously collected multiple GPS data. Processing procedure for multiple GPS reception data by applying the center of the triangular method were presented to improve the position accuracy. Second, UAV navigation systems integrated multiple GPS through configuration of the UAV specifications were implemented. Using the unmanned airframe equipped with multiple GPS receivers, GPS data is measured with the TCM (Triangular Center Method). In addition, UAV equipped with multiple GPS were operated in study area and locational accuracy of multiple GPS of UAV with VRS (Virtual Reference Station) GNSS surveying were compared. The result showed that the error factors are compensated, and the error range are reduced, resulting in the reliability of the corrected value. In conclusion, the result in this paper is expected to realize high-precision position estimation at low cost in UAV using multiple low-cost GPS receivers.

  • Due to the limitations of the existing indoor positioning system depending on the radio wave, at present, it is required to introduce a new method in order to improve the accuracy in indoor environment. Recently, bio-inspired technology has become the future core technology. Thus, this study examined the accurate positioning method applying the abilities that animals with homing instinct measure their position by searching geomagnetic field with the use of their biomagnets. In order to confirm the applicability of geomagnetic field, a new source for indoor positioning, this study separated the constituent materials and building structure and designed the structures that can carry the actual magnetic field sensor and the data collection module. Subsequently, this study investigated the applicability of geomagnetic field as a positioning source by establishing the positioning system of Fingerprint method. In performance evaluation of the positioning system, the geomagnetic strength-based positioning system was similar to or approximately 20 percent higher than the wireless LAN-based positioning system in the buildings with the existing wireless LAN. Thus, in the environment without infrastructure for indoor positioning, the geomagnetic, an independent earth resource, can make it possible to realize the indoor positioning.

  • Recently, researches using deep learning technology based on Wi-Fi fingerprints have been conducted for accurate services in indoor location-based services. Among the deep learning models, an RNN model that can store information from the past can store continuous movements in indoor positioning, thereby reducing positioning errors. At this time, continuous sequential data is required as training data. However, since Wi-Fi fingerprint data is generally managed only with signals for a specific location, it is inappropriate to use it as training data for an RNN model. This paper proposes a path generation method through prediction of a moving path based on Wi-Fi fingerprint data extended to region data through clustering to generate sequential input data of the RNN model.

  • JPL(Jet Propulsion Laboratory) has been routinely produced the precise GPS ephemeris and clock's correction parameter using data collected from globally distributed permanent GPS tracking stations, and has been offering the automated GPS data analysis(Precise Point Positioning: PPP) service by using them. In this study, after investigating the potential capacity of JPL's PPP service, the coordinates computation of the GPS base station by this service were investigated. For this, the dual frequency P codes data of 24 hours were observed from continuously operating four reference stations in USA. sent to the JPL's main computer through E-mail and/or ftp, and then were processed by Gipsy/Oasis-II (GOA-II) software with the precise GPS transmitter parameters. Centimeter-level positioning results were available to obtain in X, Y, Z geocentric rectangular coordinate system.

  • In this study, an EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) based database reference navigation using both gravity gradient and terrain data was performed to complement the weakness of using only one type of geophysical DB (Database). Furthermore, a new algorithm which combines the EKF and profile matching was developed to improve the stability and accuracy of the positioning. On the basis of simulations, it was found that the overall navigation performance was improved by the combination of geophysical DBs except the two trajectories in which the divergence of TRN (Terrain Referenced Navigation) occurred. To solve the divergence problem, the profile matching algorithm using the terrain data is combined with the EKF. The results show that all trajectories generate the stable performance with positioning error ranges between 14m to 23m although not all trajectories positioning accuracy is improved. The average positioning error from the combined algorithm for all nine trajectories is about 18 m. For further study, a development of a switching geophysical DB or algorithm between the EKF and the profile matching to improve the navigation performance is suggested.

  • This study aims to improve the positioning accuracy by analizing the accuracys of three dimensional positioning according to various data types and preprocessing levels of SPOT imagery and the acquisition method for ground control points, and to develop the three dimensional positioning algorithm and program. In this study, the optimum polynomials of exterior orientation parameters according to each preprocessing levels (level 1B; 15 variables, level 1AP, 1A; 12 variables) are determined. As a results, the accuracy of level lAP is the best in the results of analysis about the accuracy of positioning, but level 1A which is digital image data form also shows similar positioning accuracy. Also, in level 1A image which have different acquisition method for ground control points, the accuracy of three dimensional positioning is highly improved. But, in case of low accuracy of ground control points, only introduction of additional parameters does not effect to the improvement of accuracy. Therefore simultaneous adjustment including blunder detection method should be adopted.

  • This study was conducted to develop a robust navigator which could be in positioning for precision farming through developing a plural GPS receiver with 4 sets of GPS antenna. In order to improve positioning accuracy by integrating GPS signals received simultaneously, the algorithm for processing plural GPS signal effectively was designed. Performance of the algorithm was tested using a simulation program and a fixed point on WGS 84 coordinates. Results of this study are aummarized as followings. 1. 4 sets of lower grade GPS receiver and signals were integrated by kalman filter algorithm and geometric algorithm to increase positioning accuracy of the data. 2. Prototype was composed of 4 sets of GPS receiver and INS components. All Star which manufactured by CMC, gyro compass made by KVH, ground speed sensor and integration S/W based on RTOS(Real Time Operating System)were used. 3. Integration algorithm was simulated by developed program which could generate random position error less then 10 m and tested with the prototype at a fixed position. 4. When navigation data was integrated by geometrical correction and kalman filter algorithm, estimated positioning erros were less then 0.6 m and 1.0 m respectively in simulation and fixed position tests.

  • There exists a high correlation between the ionospheric delays and the integer ambiguity in GPS observation equation, so that the sufficient time span is required to revolve the integer ambiguity. This means that the ambiguity resolution plays a key role especially in rapid-static positioning mode. To analyze the effect of ionospheric disturbances on the positioning accuracy, 02/19/2011 day of dataset was selected processed in rapid-static positioning mode. The total of 141 30-minute sessions were processed, i.e., the estimation procedure started every 10 minutes, and the time-to-fix information of each data interval is obtained. In this study, the analysis is performed by comparing the time-to-fix with the magnitudes of ionospheric delays. The computed correlation coefficient between the time-to-fix and the magnitudes of ionospheric delays is 0.31, which indicates the ionospheric disturbances affect the positioning accuracy in rapid-static positioning mode. Therefore, it is required to collect and process sufficient data when the GPS surveying is performed in unfavorable ionospheric conditions.
