  • Construction industries have increasingly utilized Building information Modeling (BIM) technologies. Interoperability - the capability for BIM data to run from one computer application to another in the life cycle of a project - has become one of the principal research areas. Enhancing interoperability inevitably requires information structures that are standardized throughout the construction industries. As a candidate of the data exchange standard, Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) has been developed and several researches recently performed to measure its richness of digital data exchange. But doubts have been brought up whether IFC meets a sufficient level of interoperability since the research result revealed a number of cases of information misrepresentation and loss. This research presents the lessons learned from the interoperability tests of three widely used 3D design applications including Graphisoft's Archicad, Autodesk's Revit, and Bentley's Bentley Architecture. One building's architectural and structural design data were modeled with the three tools and exchanged through IFC respectively for interoperability test.

  • Early design phase energy modeling is used to provide the design team with first order of magnitude feedback about the impact of various building configurations. For better energy-conscious and sustainable building design and operation, the construction of BIM data interoperability for energy performance assessment in the early design phase is important. The purpose of this study is to suggest construction of BIM data interoperability for energy performance assessment based on BIM. To archive this purpose, the authors have investigated advantage of BIM-based energy performance assessment through comparison with traditional energy performance assessment and suggested requirement for construction of open BIM environment such as BIM data creation, BIM data software practical use, BIM data application and verification. In addition, the authors have suggested BIM data interoperability and BIM energy property mapping method focused on materials.

  • We propose Framework that (should) have data interoperability between Legacy DataBases using Proxy DataBases based on XMDR(eXtended Meta-Data Registry) Data Hub in this papers. It may occur some problems among data structure, semantics and other heterogeneous problems between interoperability of legacy DB on cooperation environment. Also, It is hard to keep consistency of Data that changes on realtime, regardless of data variety and type. In this paper, Using XMDR data hub, we solve the problem that was occurred by data integration and interoperability between legacy DB. We suggest the framework which are compatible with any class and type of interoperability-data and offer accurate information with consistency in real-time using proxy database.

  • The Systems Interoperability Test and Evaluation System(SITES) is an T&E support tool for both information system and weapon system. The SITES was developed by reference to the Level of Information Systems Interoperability(LISI) in US. We use the tool via MND Broad convergence Network(BCN) in order to assess information system's interoperability. Nowadays, there are many ongoing researches on expanding assessment capability into weapon systems. As part of those research topics, this paper analyze the characteristics of tactical data-link messages which is the way to exchange the information among the weapon systems, and reflect that characteristics in interoperability level assessment.

  • In a multi-cloud environment, it is necessary to minimize physical movement for efficient interoperability of distributed source data without building a data warehouse or data lake. And there is a need for a data platform that can easily access data anywhere in a multi-cloud environment. In this paper, we propose a new platform based on data fabric centered on a distributed platform suitable for cloud environments that overcomes the limitations of legacy systems. This platform applies the knowledge graph database technique to the physical linkage of source data for interoperability of distributed data. And by integrating all data into one scalable platform in a multi-cloud environment, it uses the holochain technique so that companies can easily access and move data with security and authority guaranteed regardless of where the data is stored. The knowledge graph database mitigates the problem of heterogeneous conflicts of data interoperability in a decentralized environment, and Holochain accelerates the memory and security processing process on traditional blockchains. In this way, data access and sharing of more distributed data interoperability becomes flexible, and metadata matching flexibility is effectively handled.

  • Lately, developing systems fully interoperable with others is considered an essential element for successful projects, as not only do e-commerce becomes ubiquitous but also distributed systems' paradigm spreads. However, since definitions of interoperability vary by viewpoints, it is still difficult to have the same understanding and evaluation criteria on interoperability. For instance, various interoperability parties in military use different definitions of interoperability, and its T&E is not conducted according to the definition, but only to levels of information exchange. In this paper, we proposed a new definition of interoperability as followsm First of all, we collected existing and various interoperability definitions, extracting key components in each of them. Second, we statistically analyzed those components and applied the association rules discovery in data mining. We compared existing interoperability definitions to ours. From this research, we found associations among the components from various definitions applying market-basketanalysis, redefining interoperability. Key findings of this research can contribute to a unified viewpoint on the definition, level, and evaluation items of interoperability.

  • Due to heterogeneity in Data and Processes, healthcare systems are facing the challenge of interoperability. This heterogeneity results in different healthcare workflows of each individual organization. The compatibility of these heterogeneous workflows is possible when standards are followed. HL7 is one of the standards that is used for communicating medical data between healthcare systems. Its newer version V3 is providing semantic interoperability which is lacking in V2. The interoperability in HL7 V3 is only limited to data level and process level interoperability needs to be catered. The process level interoperability is achieved only when heterogeneous workflows are aligned. These workflows are very complex in nature due to continuous change in medical data resulting in problems related to maintenance and degree of automation. Semantic technologies plays important role in resolving the above mentioned problems. This research work is based on the integration of semantic technology in HL7 V3 standard to achieve semantic process interoperability. Web Service Modeling Framework (WSMF) is used for incorporating semantics in HL7 V3 processes and achieves seamless communication. Interaction Ontology represents the process artifacts of HL7 V3 and helps in achieving automation.

  • Various kind of business process exists within enterprise. These business processes achieve business purposes while operate and control using eAI solution. However legacy systems-ERP, PDM are able to many cooperations and interoperability. Generally real data is becoming interoperability using query based on store-procedure on legacy system for business process transaction. Also, It may occur some problems among schema conversion, matching, mapping and other heterogeneous between data interoperability in process. We propose business process interoperability framework based on XMDR Hub that can guarantee interoperability between legacy systems using process that is consisted of SQL query based on store-procedure. It is easy to process data interoperability between legacy systems when business process execute.

  • Due to the increase of carbon dioxide and building regulations, BIM is considered a way of low-carbon and eco-friendly building development for its many advantages. The advantages can be maximized with Open BIM since it can produce optimal results for various purposes of energy performance assessment. However there are some problems in data interoperability in the process of Open-BIM based energy performance assessment. To solve such problems, this study focuses on space boundary information interoperability between IFC of Open BIM and IDF format of Energy Plus known as the most accurate and diverse energy performance assessment. The study analyzes the analogous study then figures out the problems of IFC based energy performance analysis, and suggests the way of interoperability. Finally, the development of automation program makes this way much more effective. The study of IFC data interoperability is useful for improving the reliability of Open-BIM based energy assessment.
