  • Various methods have been developed to predict the flight path of an air-launched weapon to intercept a fast-moving target in the air. However, it is also getting more challenging to predict the optimal firing zone and provide it to a pilot in real-time during engagements for advanced weapons having new complicated guidance and thrust control. In this study, a method is proposed to develop an optimized weapon engagement zone by the SCG (Scaled Conjugate Gradient) algorithm to achieve both accurate and fast estimates and provide an optimized launch display to a pilot during combat engagement. SCG algorithm is fully automated, includes no critical user-dependent parameters, and avoids an exhaustive search used repeatedly to determine the appropriate stage and size of machine learning. Compared with real data, this study showed that the development of a machine learning-based weapon aiming algorithm can provide proper output for optimum weapon launch zones that can be used for operational fighters. This study also established a process to develop one of the critical aircraft-weapon integration software, which can be commonly used for aircraft integration of air-launched weapons.

  • This study presents the development and characterization of a prototype TL/OSL reader for the retrospective dose assessment of individuals in radiological emergencies. The reader is portable, semi-automatic, and capable of accurate measurements. The dimension of the reader is 25 × 25 × 37 cm3 and the weight is about 15 kg. The reader consists of a sample moving stage, a heating module, an optical stimulation module, a detection module, a data acquisition (DAQ) unit, a nitrogen gas control module, and a PC with a GUI program. The reader has three measurement modes: TL, CW_OSL, and custom mode. The reader was characterized using commercial thermal luminescence dosimeters (TLD, LiF:Mg,Cu,Si) and optically stimulated dosimeters (OSLD, Al2O3:C), as well as fortuitous materials, such as display glasses and resistors of mobile phone. The results showed that the reader is capable of measuring signals with a detection limit of up to 0.02 mGy using a commercial dosimeter. In the dose recovery test using fortuitous materials, the reconstructed doses obtained three days post-irradiation closely aligned with the initially administered doses. As a result, this study suggests that the developed TL/OSL reader is a promising instrument for emergency dose assessment at accident sites.

  • Nanobodies derived from camelids and sharks offer unique advantages in therapeutic applications due to their ability to bind to epitopes that were previously inaccessible. Traditional methods of nanobody development face challenges such as ethical concerns and antigen toxicity. Our study presents a synthetic, phage-displayed nanobody library using trinucleotide-directed mutagenesis technology, which allows precise amino acid composition in complementarity-determining regions (CDRs), with a focus on CDR3 diversity. This approach avoids common problems such as frameshift mutations and stop codon insertions associated with other synthetic antibody library construction methods. By analyzing FDA-approved nanobodies and Protein Data Bank sequences, we designed sub-libraries with different CDR3 lengths and introduced amino acid substitutions to improve solubility. The validation of our library through the successful isolation of nanobodies against targets such as PD-1, ATXN1 and STAT3 demonstrates a versatile and ethical platform for the development of high specificity and affinity nanobodies and represents a significant advance in biotechnology.

  • Preparing for the rapidly increment of air traffic volume of the 21st century, International Civi1 Aviation Organization(ICAO) started for studying a newly developed CNS/ATM System from the 1980s and after 2010, expect that the existing aeronautical facility is overloaded because air traffic volume increase rapidly. For this reason new CNS/ATM System will be the international standard system in the future. Especially, ADS-B(Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) as the key component of Surveillance and ATM in new CNS/ATM System provides the real-time and same air traffic information to pilots in the aircraft cockpit, air traffic controllers on the ground and surface vehicles at the same time. Information provided is displayed precisely and accurately through Multi-Function Display(MFD). We implement the MFD system being supporting for new CNS/ATM System. And we show the good performance of MFD system in labortory environment using the MIL-STD-1553B data bus.

  • After The Ramsar Convention took place in Korea in 2008, public interest in environment heightened, and the government has been allocating its budget for conserving our environment. Therefore, the present study focuses on eco-friendly spatial images particularly shown in ecological museums in Korea which recognizes the value of the environment and the ecology and tries to both protect them and alert people about it. The purpose of this study is proving what consist of eco-friendly spatial images by analyzing the expressive word of eco-friendly images and the image of space, providing a basic data for future space planning of ecological museums. To do this, the present study proceeds in three steps. First of all, the base of research in analyzing stage is firmly established by grasping general theories and terms regarding spatial image. As a second step, the composition and the characteristics of exhibition is clarified through on-spot investigation to provide comparative data for spatial image assessment in the future. Also through this step, we could understand how the exhibits are designed currently. In the last stage of research, expressive words regarding eco-friendly spatial images are extracted and used to analyze the spatial image of ecological museums. And the following three conclusions is deduced. First, the expressive words of eco-friendly spatial image that are extracted are as following: "healthy", "coexisting", "clean", "blending", "warm", "soft", "lively", "pure", "cool", "fresh ", "comfortable", "relaxed", "mild", "free", "harmonious", and "healing". As the second conclusion, color, and material, the formation which is an architectural factor did not have a great impact on forming eco-friendly image, but the color and the material did. The third conclusion was that the display with natural aspects actively utilized increased eco-friendly spatial image.

  • Traditional ultrasonic evaluation to detect micro/small surface cracks is the pulse-echo technique using the normal immersion transducer with high frequency, or the angle beam transducer with surface wave. It is difficult to make the automatic ultrasonic system that is to detect micro and small surface crack and position on the large structure like steel and ceramic rolls, because of the huge data of inspection and the ambiguous position data of transducer. The aim of this study using the high precision scanning acoustic microscope with 10MHz large aperture transducer was to display the real time A, B, C-scan for the automatic ultrasonic system in order to detect the existence and position of surface crack. The ultrasonic method with large aperture transducer was improved the scanning time and speed over 10times faster than traditional methods.

  • This paper proposes a novel OLED pixel circuit to compensate the threshold voltage variation of p-channel low temperature polycrystalline silicon thin-film transistors (LTPS TFTs). The proposed 5-TFT OLED pixel circuit consists of 4 switching TFTs, 1 OLED driving TFT and 1 capacitor. One frame of the proposed pixel circuit is divided into initialization period, threshold voltage sensing and data programming period, data holding period and emission period. SmartSpice simulation results show that the maximum error rate of OLED current is -4.06% when the threshold voltage of driving TFT varies by ${\pm}0.25V$ and that of OLED current is 9.74% when the threshold voltage of driving TFT varies by ${\pm}0.50V$. Thus, the proposed 5T1C pixel circuit can realize uniform OLED current with high immunity to the threshold voltage variation of p-channel poly-Si TFT.

  • In electronic warfare settings, battlefield helicopters identify various threats based upon threat data, which are acquired using their multi-sensors of aircraft survivability equipment (ASE). To continually function despite of potential threats and successfully execute their missions, the battlefield helicopters have to repeatedly report threats in simulated battlefield situations. Toward this ends, the paper presents threat unification using multi-sensor simulator and its implementation. The simulator consists of (1) threat attributes generator, which models threats against battlefield helicopters and defines their specific attributes, (2) threat data generator, which generates threats, being similar to real ones, using normal, uniform, and exponential distributions, and (3) graphic display for threat analysis and unification, which shows unified threat information, for example, threat angle and its level. We implement a multi-sensor threat simulator that can be repeatedly operable in various simulated battlefield settings. Further, we report experimental results that, in addition to tangibly modeling the threats to battlefield helicopters, test the capabilities of threat unification using our simulator.
