  • The purpose of this study is development of the diagnosis system to preventative maintenance in the on-board measuring systems for in-cab electric inspection systems of high speed railway. The on-board measuring systems can inspect precisely whether ground signal system operate stably. In this paper, we recognize characteristics of the track circuits and confirm whether the wave of current matches the on-board measuring data through the electric modeling method for high speed railway. it is necessary to develop GUI visual programs that can simulate abnormalities of the on-board measuring data in many ways, and the visual program is designed to diagnosis in the case of track circuit equipment's function decreased in advance.

Development of Non-Contact Penetration Measuring Device for Pile Driving Workers (항타 시공 작업자를 위한 비접촉식 관입량 측정기 개발)

  • At the construction site of the driving site, the pile rebound and penetration measurements are performed manually to determine the end point of the driving operation, thereby causing the measurer to be exposed to a death accident. In this study, in order to eliminate the risk of this work, a non-contact penetration measuring device was developed and usability evaluation was conducted. The penetration measuring device is manufactured based on the ultrasonic sensor, and can be combined with the pile to deliver the data in real time, and the delivered data can be output in real time on the portable PC and the final penetration can be calculated. Usability evaluation on the device was conducted by comparison with manual work. Usability evaluation was largely evaluated on measured values, subjective comfort, and body parts comfort. The result of the measured value tended to overestimate the value measured manually by the measuring device, which is similar to the previous research. In terms of subjective comfort and body part comfort, overall satisfaction was higher than the manual method when using the measuring device. Taken together, these results indicate that it is possible to use the rudder measuring device in place of manual work in the construction site, and it is judged that the worker's comfort is greatly increased by using the measuring machine. The results of this study suggest that the use of non-contact measuring device in the field can be used as basic data to support them.

  • Cam mechanisms are one of the most popular devices for generating irregular motion and are widely used in many industrial areas. The purpose of this study is the development of high precision measuring system fur measurement data acquisition and analysis of a manufactured cam profile. The developed system is composed of servo motor, CNC controller, rotary encoder, and laser interferometer And also, this system is non-contact measuring type. The developed system takes only 5 minutes to measure a cam profile and to analyze the measuring data while the CMM(coordinate measuring machine) takes about 1 hours even by a skilled operator.

New Breast Measurement Technique and Bra Sizing System Based on 3D Body Scan Data

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to develop a method for measuring breast size from three-dimensional (3D) body scan image data. Background: Previous bra studies established reference points by directly contacting the subject's naked skin to determine the boundary of the breast. But some subjects were uncomfortable with these types of measurements. This study examined noncontact methods of extracting breast reference points from 3D body scan data that were collected while subjects were wearing standardized soft bras. Method: 3D body scan data of 32 Korean women were analyzed. The subjects were selected from the Size Korea 2010 study. The breast landmarks were identified by graphic analyses of slicing contour lines on 3D body scan data. Results: Three methods determining bra cup size were compared. The M1 and M2 methods determined cup size by calculating the difference between bust girth and under-bust girth. The M3 method determined bra cup size by measuring breast arc length. Conclusion: The researchers proposed an anthropometric bra cup sizing system with the breast arc length (M3 method). It was measured from the geometrically defined landmarks on the 3D body scan slicing contour lines. The new bra cup size was highly correlated with breast depth. Application: The noncontact measuring method used in this study can be applied to the ergonomic studies measuring sensitive body parts.

  • In this paper, a PC-based virtual measuring program for efficiency analysis of DC-DC converter is developed. Furthermore, a newly developed, highly accurate and reliable data acquisition system for DC-DC converter is presented. The virtual measuring system consists of two different types of monitoring and measuring system. Also, this paper give a full explanation for a LabVIEW realization of the measuring system for DC-DC converter.

  • It is impossible to precat the behavior of ground soil and structure accurately during underground construction in urban area or excavation in soft ground area because of difference between the assumed design condition and the actual site condition. Therefore, it must be managed by measuring system and correct the difference by real data. Large scale under ground construction in urban area like a seoul subway project has needed for Intelligent Construction technique, a field of the Engineering Contractor. The automated measuring system is developed for the technique. It is described that the procedure and the method of measuring work with application of the automated measuring system.

  • This paper describes algorithms for enhancing the reliability of measurements to verify the performance of energy efficiency programs with an simple method. Fundamentally, measurements contain erroneous data because of the various causes. and so proper procedures or schemes are prepared before the performance is evaluated. In this paper, we propose an approach for detecting and correcting an adulterate data, such as missing and bad data. Erroneous data are detected or corrected by pre-described measuring conditions, ensemble average, and standard deviation of measurements at measuring time. The proposed algorithms are tested by field test measurements. From case studies we drew the promising results.

  • Nowaday, statistical data with coherence, accuracy and timeliness are necessary to government, company and research center for decision making or research. In other words, the importance of statistical data quality is steadily increasing. Thus, in this paper, we suggest necessity of measuring customer satisfaction with NSO products for enhancing quality. And we construct measurement scale for measuring customer satisfaction based on the statistical quality indicators. Also we advise use of structural equation model in relation analysis for statistic quality elevation.

  • Objective : This study was done to clarify ambiguous non-standard weight and measuring units in medical classics. Methods : Using medical classics and research dissertations, we studied the basic definitions of weight and measuring units and the types of non-standard weight and measuring units. We compared non-standard weight and measuring units in the reference literatures, to determine the dose of herbs in the prescriptions. Results : There are three types of units in non-standard weight and measuring units. These are 'Quantity measuring unit', 'Resembrance measuring unit', and 'Eye measuring unit'. And we found historical efforts and progresses for proper ways to convert non-standard weight and measuring units to standard weight and measuring units. Conclusions : This research will be the basic data for the standardization of prescriptions. Additional study was still required for precise weighing and measuring in Korean medicine and pharmacy.

  • Design methodology of Interactive Measuring Part Program Generating Tools(IMPPGT) realized on the FANUC 15MA using touch trigger probes and interactive macro functions of the CNC was described in this paper. Measuring G codes were designed according to geometric form, precision attributes, relations between parts, datum hierarchies, and relevant technological data by using measuring arguments. Menu driven measuring and inspection functions of the IMPPGT were studied and implemented on the CNC through the macro executor and ROM writer. Using the developed measuring G code system on the machine tool, untended measurement and inspection operation was able to be realized in precision FMS lines.
