  • Plant life cycle consists of design, construction, certification, operation, and maintenance phases, and various and enormous plant life cycle data is involved in each phase. Plant life cycle data should be linked with each other based on its proper relationships, so that plant operators can access necessary plant data during their regular operations and maintenance works. Currently, the relationships of plant life cycle data may not be defined explicitly, or they are scattered over several plant information systems. This paper proposes high level design of a plant life cycle data management system based on pre-defined plant life cycle database design. ISO-15926 standard is adapted for the database design. User-interface designs of the plant life cycle data management system are explained based on analysis of plant owners' requirements. A conceptual design of the database is also described with the entity-relationship diagram.

  • In this paper, we propose our four-phase life cycle of P2P botnet with corresponding detection methods and the future direction for more effective P2P botnet detection. Our proposals are based on the intensive analysis that compares existing P2P botnet detection schemes in different points of view such as life cycle of P2P botnet, machine learning methods for data mining based detection, composition of data sets, and performance matrix. Our proposed life cycle model composed of linear sequence stages suggests to utilize features in the vulnerable phase rather than the entire life cycle. In addition, we suggest the hybrid detection scheme with data mining based method and our proposed life cycle, and present the improved composition of experimental data sets through analysing the limitations of previous works.

  • A variety of evaluation application and initiatives on the adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) have been introduced in recent years. Most of which however, focused mainly on evaluating design to construction phase-processes, or BIM utilization performances. Through studying existing publications, it is found that continuous utilization of BIM data throughout the building's life cycle is comparatively less explored or documented. Therefore, this study looks at improving this incomplete life cycle condition with the concept that accumulated BIM data should be carried forward and statistically quantified for cross comparison, in order to facilitate practitioners to better improve the projects the future. Based on this conceptual theory of moving towards a closedloop BIM building life cycle, this study explores, through existing literature, the use of cloud based computing as the means to quantify and adaptively utilize BIM data. Categorization of BIM data relations in adaptive utilization of BIM data is then suggested as a initial step for enhancing cross comparison of BIM data in a cloud environment.

  • Although overseas countries have already developed data life cycle for the preservation and curation of data since the 1990s, the research in Korea has been very insufficient. In this study, we analyzed the data life cycles developed in DCC, ICPSR, IWGDD, DataONE, USGS and UKDA to propose data life cycle for efficient management of research data. As a result of the analysis, the common components derived are 'Plan', 'Create & Collect', 'Process', 'Preserve', 'Dispose', 'Access & Use', 'Describe', 'Assure' and 'Backup & Secure'. In addition, the nine components were subdivided into stages to describe the details to be carried out at that stage. It is expected that the content of this study will be applicable in the future development of data life cycle for research data management in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze consumption expenditure patterns over family life cycle. The data used in the study is the 1994 Survey data from Annual Report on the Family Income and Expenditure Survey. The study sample included 26,980 salary and wage earners’ households living in cities. The family life cycle was classified into six stages and items of expenditure were classified into 12 categories. Frequency distribution, mean, one-way ANOVA, Scheff test, and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The major findings of this study are as follows : First, the average consumption propensity differs among family life cycle. Second, the amount and budget share of consumption expenditure for each expenditure category differ significantly among family life cycle in all expenditure categories. Third, family life cycle is found to be a significant factor on expenditure of food and education, and also on budget share of education.

  • Low cycle fatigue characteristics of cast aluminum alloy A356 with a yield strength and ultimate strength of 229 and 283 MPa respectively was evaluated using smooth axial specimen under strain controlled condition. Reversals to failure ranged from 16 to 107. The cast aluminum alloy exhibited cyclically strain-gardening behavior. The results of low cycle fatigue tests indicated that the conventional low cycle fatigue tests indicated that the conventional low cycle fatigue life model was not a satisfactory representation of the data. This occurred because the elastic strain-life curve was not-log-log linear and this phenomena caused a nonconservative and unsafe fatigue life prediction at both extremes of long and short lives. A linear log-log total strain-life model and a bilinear log-log elastic strain-life model were proposed in order to improve the representation of data compared to the conventional low cycle fatigue life model. Both proposed fatigue life models were statistically analyzed using F tests and successfully satisfied. However, the low cycle fatigue life model generated by the bilinear log-log elastic strain-life equation yielded a discontinuous curve with nonconservatism in the region of discontinuity. Among the models examined, the linear log-log total strain-life model provided the best representation of the low cycle fatigue data. Low cycle fatigue life prediction method based on the local strain approach could conveniently incorporated both proposed fatigue life models.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze income and consumption expenditure patterns over the family life cycle. The data used in this study is the 2004 Survey data from the Annual Report on the Family Income and Expenditure Survey data which are included salary and wage earners' households living in urban areas. The income and expenditure data of 20,383 households are analyzed. The family life cycle is classified into six stages and the items of expenditure are classified into 12 categories. The data are analyzed by descriptive statistics, $X^2$ test, F-test, and Duncan's multiple range test using SAS 8.0 package program. The major findings of this study are as fellows: First, the average monthly family income of the total sample is 3,480,000 won. The proportion of regular and irregular income among the total family income is 95.5% and 4.5% respectively. Second, the amount and ratio of monthly regular income fur each category are significantly different over the family life cycle. Third, the average monthly family expenditure of the total sample is 2,250,000 won. The amount and ratio of monthly expenditure of all items are significantly different over the family life cycle. The highest expenditure item is the traffic expanse and phone charge.

  • Today, the population of cycle participants is consistently increasing. Cycling is becoming not only a form of physical exercise but also a form of tourism in which cycle activities are related to visiting a particular destination. With the perspective of participation sport tourism, the purpose of this study is to investigate how the level of cycle tourists' participation affects their quality of life. An online survey link was sent to cycle participants to collect data. Out of the total 337 respondents, a total of 226 samples were used for the final analysis, disregarding those that were found to be inadequate or unreliable. For data analysis, frequency analysis, reliability test, validity, correlations, and regressions were employed with SPSS 22.0. For our first result, we found that the level of cycle participation did not significantly affect the quality of physical life. Second, the level of cycle participation did not have significant effect on the quality of mental life. Third, the level of cycle participation behavior did not have a significant effect on the quality of social life. Fourth, the level of cycle participation behavior did not have a significant effect on the quality of environmental life. Conclusions and political implications are discussed.
