  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of an extreme heat Adaptation Program on the blood pressure, stress response, self-efficacy, and knowledge of management of hypertension and extreme heat of patients who suffered from hypertension. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The data collection period was between July 2 and August 20, 2012. Thirty-seven patients participated in the study (18 in the experimental group and 19 in the control group). Data were analyzed using $X^2$-test, t-test, and Cronbach's alpha coefficients with SPSS/WIN 19.0. Results: Patients who participated in the program showed statistically significant improvements in systolic blood pressure (SBP), self-efficacy, and knowledge of management of hypertension and extreme heat. Conclusion: The results indicate that this extreme heat adaptation program can be utilized for patients suffering from hypertension in order to reduce their SBP and to increase self-efficacy and knowledge of management of hypertension and extreme heat. Therefore, it is recommended that this program be used for elderly patients suffering from chronic disease.

Research Design, Data, and Methodology: The analysis was based on a panel dataset of 30 microfinance institutions for the period of 2010 to 2018. Data was obtained from the Microfinance information exchange (MIX) database, and it was analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics with the aid of STATA. Based on the results of the Hausman test, the study adopted the fixed effect regression model to test the research hypothesis. Results: The study found that portfolio quality had a positive significant effect on financial sustainability of Microfinance institutions in Kenya (β= 0. 211; p-value < 0.05). For the control variables; firm age had a positive effect (β= 0.773; p-value <0.05), while firm size (β= -0. 749; p-value < 0.05) had a negative effect on financial sustainability. Conclusions: The study concluded that portfolio quality has an important influence on the financial sustainability of microfinance institution. The study recommends that managers of microfinance institutions should devise good collection policies to improve portfolio quality while lessening loan default rate. The portfolio quality may improve the overall profitability and enhance investor confidence in their strategic decision-making on refinancing.

The forty-two diabetic children participating in this study were selected from outpatients. he period of data collection was August 8 to December 9, 1994. Collected data were analyzed by means of chi-square test, t-test, Pearson correlation using SPSS/P $C^+. The result are summarized as follows : 1. The mean score of perceived self-efficacy was 3. 21 that of sick-role behavioral compliance 3.17. 2. Perceived self-efficacy and sick-role behavioral compliance had a positive correlation which was statistically significant(r=0.77, p<0.001). 3. There were statistically significant difference in perceived self-efficacy according to age(p<0. 01) and acknowledgment of prescribed calories in the diabetic diet(p<0.001). 4. There were statistically significant difference in sick-role behavioral compliance according to age (p<0.01) and acknowledgment of prescribed calories in the diabetic diet (p<0.001). These results suggest that perceived self-efficacy is an important variable in the compliance of diabetic children. Nursing intervention needs to be directed at promoting perceived self-efficacy to maintain sickrole behavioral compliance for diabetic children. Therefore programs of nursing intervention should be revised in order to promote perceived self-efficacy in diabetic children.en.
