Optical Transceiver Module for Next-generation Automotive Optical Network, MOST1000 (차세대 자동차 광네트워크 MOST1000 용 광트랜시버 모듈)

  • Heretofore, it was enough that most of optical transceiver modules for automotive networks have the performance of data rate from 10 Mbps to 150 Mbps. As the required data rate in automotive infotainment systems has recently been increasing, the development of a new optical transceiver having high speed data rate over 1Gbps is now required. Therefore, we suggested a next-generation bi-directional optical transceiver module using vertical cavity surface emitting laser technology and plastic clad fiber technology, for the next-generation automotive optical network, MOST1000. We fabricated the high-speed and compact optical transceiver having 1 Gbps data rate and -22 dBm sensitivity satisfying bit error rate $10^{-12}$.

  • A demand on the spatial data management has been rapidly increased with the introduction and diffusion process of ITS, Telematics, and Wireless Sensor Network, and many different people use the digital map that offers various thematic spatial data. Spatial data for digital map can manage to tile-based and feature-based data. The existing tile-based digital map management systems have difficult problems of data construction, history management, and updating based on a spatial object. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposed the data model for the feature-based digital map management system that is designed for feature-based seamless map, history management, real-time updating of spatial data, and analyzed the validity and utility of the proposed model.

Telemedicine for Real-Time Multi-Consultation

  • We introduce a new multimedia telemedicine system which is called Telemedicine for Real-time Emergency Multi-consultation(TREM), based on multiple connection between medical specialists. Due to the subdivision of medical specialties, the existing one-to-one telemedicine system needs be modified to a simultaneous multi-consulting system. To facilitate the consultation the designed system includes following modules: high-quality video, video conferenceing, bio-signal transmission, and file transmission. In order to enhance the operability of the system in different network environment, we made it possible for the user to choose appropriate data acquisition sources of multimedia data and video resolutions. We have tested this system set up in three different places: emergency room, radiologist's office, and surgeon's office. All three communicating systems were successful in making connections with the multi-consultation center to exchange data simultaneously in real-time.

  • In this paper, we develop a transportation planning system for the mail transportation network, which consists of 25 mail centers and one mail exchange center. The main functions of the system are adjustment of transportation plan, creation of new transportation plan, and calculation of expected exchange mail volume which are transported through mail exchange center. We develop an adjusting algorithm which gives a new transportation plan by deleting, adding or changing the current routes. The algorithm based on the transportation results of current transportation plan and mail volume data. We design and implement a planning system by installing the algorithm as the planning engine. For the practical use, the system is connected to the information system of Korea Post, PostNet.

  • The entanglement effects were described by means of holes through which the network chain must pass. Inhomogeneous entanglement effects were related to the hole distributions on the surface and in the center of spheres in the network chains. It was assumed that holes were subjected to the affiance deformation and the network chains were gaussian distribution. The results of this model calculation was compared with the compression- extension experimental data of PDMS (polydimethyl siloxane) rubber, and then hole's relative position was known to be in the center of two adjacent holes.

Application of Artificial Neural Networks for Prediction of the Strength Properties of CSG Materials

  • The number of researches on the mechanical properties of cemented sand and gravel (CSG) materials and the application of the CSG Dam has been increased. In order to explain the technical scheme of strength prediction model about the artificial neural network, we obtained the sample data by orthogonal test using the PVA (Polyvinyl alcohol) fiber, different amount of cementing materials and age, and established the efficient evaluation and prediction system. Combined with the analysis about the importance of influence factors, the prediction accuracy was above 95%. This provides the scientific theory for the further application of CSG, and will also be the foundation to apply the artificial neural network theory further in water conservancy project for the future.

  • Coagulant feeding control is very important in the water treatment process. Coagulant feeding is related to the raw water quality such as turbidity, alkalinity, water temperature, pH and so on. However, since the process of chemical reaction has not been clarified so far, coagulant dosing rate has been decided by jar-test. In order to overcome the difficulty mentioned above, Fuzzy Neural Network to fuse fuzzy logic and neural network was proposed, and the scheme was applied to the automatic determination of coagulant dosing rate. This algorithm can automatically identify the if-then rules, tune the membership functions by utilizing expert's experimental data. The proposed scheme is evaluated by computer simulation and interfaced with coagulant feeder operated by magnetic flowmeter, control valve and PLC. It is shown that coagulant feeding according to real time sensing of water quality is very effective.

Anomaly Detection Method for Drone Navigation System Based on Deep Neural Network

  • This paper proposes a method for detecting flight anomalies of drones through the difference between the command of flight controller (FC) and the navigation solution. If the drones make a flight normally, control errors generated by the difference between the desired control command of FC and the navigation solution should converge to zero. However, there is a risk of sudden change or divergence of control errors when the FC control feedback loop preset for the normal flight encounters interferences such as strong winds or navigation sensor abnormalities. In this paper, we propose the method with a deep neural network model that predicts the control error in the normal flight so that the abnormal flight state can be detected. The performance of proposed method was evaluated using the real-world flight data. The results showed that the method effectively detects anomalies in various situation.

  • In this paper, a sensor network system for providing intelligent home network services is suggested. It steadily collects biological data of resident people and automatically detects emergency situations LEID(Lighting Embedded Information Device) system are the most essential component of the sensor network. They embed sensor network technology into lightening devices which are indispensable most living spaces. To verify practicality of the proposed intelligent home network service system, a prototypical system is realized in the Smart Home Industrialization Support Center at Kookmin University, and is tested within many practical circumstances.
