  • Studies on visual fatigues were activated after VDTs were rapidly introduced into the office works in 1980s. Various measurement methods and its measures were developed from those studies. Early studies frequently used simple measures such as near point of accommodation, near point of vergence, and CFF. Current researches focus on dark focus, dark vergence, and VEP which have a good relevance to the visual fatigues. In spite of the merit they also have some limits and disagreements. This survey summarizes the measures, measurement methods and relevant researches. Finally several topics are proposed for the future researches in Korea.

  • The importance of long-term preservation of various types of electronic records through dark archives is gradually increasing. However, the current dark archive does not have an optimized information package structure for long-term preservation of electronic records. In order to address these problems, this research proposed four element categories by re-organizing the OAIS reference model information package based on the core process of the dark archiving. The detailed descriptive items of each category consist of a total of 4 upper-level elements and 27 sub elements based on the OAIS reference model, ISO 23081, Records Management Metadata Standard, ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF), ISDF, and ISDIAH. This structure can be used as a basis for constructing an information package optimized for dark archiving, and is expected to support the long-term preservation of electronic records more efficiently.

  • Electrical gate and drain characteristics of double heterostructure InAlAs/InGaAs pseudomorphic HEMTs have been investigated under sub-bandgap photonic excitation ($hv). Drain $(V_{DS})-,{\;}gate($V_{DS})-$, and optical power($P_{opt}$)-dependent variation of the abnormal gate leakage current and associated physical mechanisms in the PHEMTs have been characterized. Peak gate voltage ($V_{GS,P}$) and the onset voltage for the impact ionization ($V_{GS.II}$) have been extracted and empirical model for their dependence on the $V_{DS}$ and $P_{opt} have been proposed. Anomalous gate and drain current, both under dark and under sub-bandgap photonic excitation, have been modeled as a parallel connection of high performance PHEMT with a poor satellite FET as a parasitic channel. Sub-bandgap photonic characterization, as a function of the optical power with $h\nu=0.799eV$, has been comparatively combined with those under dark condition for characterizing the bell-shaped negative humps in the gate current and subthreshold drain leakage under a large drain bias.

  • In this research, the PN junction type Si photodiodes have been fabricated on the low doped P type(Na=7x10**14 cm**-3) and N type (Nd=4x10**14cm**-3) (100) silicon substrates. We could find out that the dark current was lower in the N type substrate than in the P type substrate. Some well designed photodiodes showed relatively good optical and electronic characteristics that the dark current is lower than 5 nA at 10V of reverse bias condition, that the breakdown voltage is higher than 250V, and that the quantum efficiency is larger than 86% at the wavelength of $6328{\AA}$

  • SPT-CL J2106-5844 is known to be one of the most massive galaxy clusters ($M_{200}{\sim}1.27{\times}10^{15}M_{sun}$) ever found at z > 1. Given its redshift (z ~ 1.132), the mass of this cluster estimated by Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect and X-ray observation is too large compared with the current ${\Lambda}CDM$ cosmology prediction. Mass estimation from these methods can be biased because they require assumptions on hydrostatic equilibrium, which are not guaranteed to hold at such high redshift (about 40% of the current age of the Universe). Thus, we need to verify the mass of this interesting cluster using gravitational lensing, which does not require such assumptions. In this work, we present our preliminary result of dark matter mass and its spatial mass distribution of SPT-CL J2106-5844 using weak-lensing analysis based on HST optical/NIR deep imaging data. We compare mass estimates from different sources and discuss cosmological implications.

  • MOdified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) is an alternative to the dark matter paradigm. MOND asserts that when the magnitude of acceleration is smaller than the acceleration parameter $a_0$, the response of the system to gravity is stronger (larger acceleration) than the one given by Newtonian dynamics. The current value of $a_0$ is obtained mostly by observations of spiral galaxies (rotation curves and the Tully-Fisher relation). We attempt to estimate $a_0$ from the dynamics of elliptical galaxies. We seek elliptical galaxies that act as the lens of gravitational lensing systems and have velocity dispersion data available. We analysed 65 Einstein rings from the Sloan Len ACS survey (SLACS). The mass estimates from gravitation lensing and velocity dispersion agree well with each other, and are consistent with the estimates from population synthesis with a Salpeter IMF. The value of $a_0$ obtained from this analysis agrees with the current value.

  • A high performance organic phototransistor with dynamic range of 120 dB is demonstrated by employing soluble pentacene as a photo-sensing layer. The organic phototransistor used suspended source/drain (SSD) electrode structure, which provides a dark current level of ${\sim}10^{-14}$ A at positive gate bias. Under a steady-state illumination, the organic phototransistor exhibited a current modulation of $10^6$ compared to dark to give a dynamic range of 120 dB. These results suggest that the organic phototransistor based on TIPS pentacene can be a new premising candidate for low-cost and high-performance photo-sensing element for digital imaging applications.

  • Globular clusters (GCs) are known to have a very small amount of or no dark matter (DM). Several studies propose that GCs may have formed in individual dark halos. Thus, some of the current GCs might have a non-negligible DM content. Using the Fokker-Planck (FP) calculations, we investigate the dynamical evolution of the Galactic GCs residing in mini DM halo. We trace the initial amount of DM of 47 Tuc, NGC 1851, and M15, which is a 'disk/bulge' cluster, an 'old halo' cluster, and a 'young halo' cluster, respectively. We find that the three GCs have initially insignificant amounts of DM, less than 20 percent of the initial stellar mass of the each cluster.

  • Current and planned large-volume surveys such as the Sloan Digital Sky Survey extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (SDSS IV-eBOSS) or the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) will use Luminous Red Galaxies (LRGs) and Emission Line Galaxies (ELGs) to map the cosmic web up to z~1.7, and will allow one to accurately constrain cosmological models and obtain crucial information on the nature of dark energy and the expansion history of the Universe in novel epochs - particularly by measuring the Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) feature with improved accuracy. To this end, we present here a study of the spatial distribution and clustering of a sample of LRGs and ELGs obtained from a sub-volume of the MultiDark simulation complemented by different semi-analytic prescriptions, and investigate how these two different populations trace the cosmic web at different redshift intervals - along with their synergy. This is the first step towards the interpretation of upcoming ELG and LRG data.
