Studies on Pest Insects of Crude Drugs (생약 및 한약재의 저장 중 발생하는 곤충류)

  • In order to estimate accurate quality of crude drugs in which pest was found during the storage, damaged 15 items were collected on current markets. We identified insect name by investigation of insect morphology, bug cluster, and morphology of damaged crude drugs. Three kind of pests were identified in the above 15 items as follows: A: Pyralis sp. (Pyralidae) was observed in damaged Platycodi Radix. B: Anthreus verbasci (Anobiidae) was found out in damaged Angelicae gigantis Radix, and Dioscoreae Rhizoma. C: Stegobium pamceum (Anobiidae) was discovered in the 12 crude drugs as follows: Puerariae Radix, Angelicae koreanae Radix, Angehcae tenuissimae Radix, Codonopsis Radix, Ledebouriellae Radix, Ginseng Radix alba, Angelicae dahuricae Radix, Belamcandae Rhizoma, Paeoniae Radix, Cnidii Rhizoma, Alismatis Rhizoma, and Fritillariae Bulbus.

  • Strengthening a damaged structure by bonding steel plate on the surface of cracked structural members have been widely accepted for strengthening the structural components Recently, however, caron fiber sheets have been developed in order to achive more effective way of strengthening damaged structures due to their superior material properties to those of conventionally used steel plates in terms of their lighter unit weight and higher tensile strength. It has been reported that when both methods are applied to a damaged beam element, flexural strength and its stiffness of a beam increase and the rate of crack development as well as crack width and edflection under service loads are reduced, In this study some experiments are performed in order to comparetively observe the structural properties of the damaged beams which are either strengthened with different lengths of steel plates or with carbon sheets on the crack propagation, failure mechanisms, and load-deflection charateristics under the fatigue loadings.

  • Corrosion of reinforced concrete structures in marine environment is one of the most important mechanism of deterioration. The conventional repair techniques of concrete structure damaged by chloride attack consist of removing damaged concrete, cleaning rebar and patching with cement-based materials. However, recently, this method was considered to be ineffective for marine concrete structure in tidal zone. It is necessary to select proper repair method for domestic marine environment which shows broad tidal zone. This paper reports the results of repair of highway concrete bridge damaged by chloride attack in domestic marine environment.

The Effects of Chungganhaeju-tang(Qingganjiejiu-tang) on Ethanol-mediated Cytokine Expression (청간해주탕이 에탄올 매개성 cytokine 발현에 미치는 영향)

  • Object : This study was designed to investigate the effects of Chungganhaeju-tang (Qingganjiejiu-tang) on cytotoxicity, growth inhibition, apoptosis and expression of cytokine in damaged HepG2 cells. Method : Toxicity on HepG2 cell induced by ethanol and acetaldehyde was measured for viability, cell growth, DNA replication and generation of apoptosis and cytokine. The recovery of the cell activity by Chungganhaeju-tang was estimated for the measured parameters using PCR with different cycle numbers, DNA gel-electrophoresis, and densitometric analysis, Results : Chungganhaeju-tang improves the recovery of HepG2 cells damaged by ethanol or acetaldehyde. The suppressed DNA synthesis of the cell damaged by ethanol or acetaldehyde is improved by Chungganhaeju-tang. A liver-protection effect was shown by the reduction of apoptosis and $TNF-{\alpha},{\;}IL-1{\beta}$ expressions that are induced by ethanol or acetaldehyde. Conclusion : The result indicates that Chungganhaeju-tang reduces toxicity induced by ethanol or acetaldehyde and recovers damaged liver function.

Dynamic Characteristics of a Damaged Plate

  • It is very important to well understand the dynamic characteristics of damaged structures to successfully develop or to choose a most appropriate structural damage identification method (SDIM) as the means of non-destructive testing. In this pope., the dynamic equation of motion for damaged plates is derived by introducing a damage distribution function, which may characterize the effective state of structural damages. It is found that structural damages may induce the coupling between modal coordinates. The effects of damages on the vibration characteristics of a plate depending on their locations, sizes, and magnitudes are numerically investigated in a systematic way. The numerical investigations are also given to the effects of damage-induced modal coupling on the changes in vibration characteristics and to the minimum number of natural modes required to predict sufficiently accurate vibration characteristics of damaged plates.

  • In this paper, we investigated on the characteristics and assessment of the insulators damaged by hitting tester(ST-100, Sharp-Eng, KOR). It made that an apparatus act on KS C 3801 for the damaged characteristics and assessment of insulators according to external scattering objects. There are selected 255mm glass insulators and 254mm porcelain insulators as the specimen. The hitting angles of the damaged insulator by pendulum weight are at $72^{\circ}$. At these points, velocity of pendulum weight is about 3.04m/sec and the force is 58.16N. At the hitting angle of 26 degrees, glass insulator is diffused the vibration within it but porcelain insulator is not. The inside vibrations of glass insulator and porcelain insulator are as like as two at the hitting angle of 53 degrees. The damaged glass insulator at the hitting angle of 72 degrees hardly is not diffused.

  • In this research, an analysis of damaged instance and forming fault for disc part in automotive steel wheel was performed. Rolled steel material, which had been used in the manufacturing of the damaged disc part, was prepared for tensile test, quantitative analysis of chemical component and acquirement of scanning electron microscope images. Although the results of mechanical properties and chemical component ratio for the material satisfied the suggested specification, some material inherent problem was found in the scanning electron microscope images. Finally, in an analysis of chemical component for the damaged disc part used in road condition, mismatching of chemical component ratio between the suggested specification and test result was found.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate evaluation technique of damaged depth of concrete exposed at high temperature. In order to evaluate damaged depth of core picked at member under fire, the 12 specimens have been made with variables of concrete strength(20Mpa, 40Mpa, 60Mpa). Water absorption after heating has been measured and split tensile stress test was performed. The results show that the deeper of the depth from heating face, water absorption ratio is smaller and tensile failure stress is larger. Using this technique at damage evaluation of fired structure, We evaluate damaged depth of member under fire and determine the reasonable strengthening range.

  • In this paper a design formula has been proposed to predict the residual strength of damaged tubulars subjected to combined axial copression, hydrostatic pressure and end bending loadings. A theoretical analysis method was employed to calculate the residual strengths, in which the geometric configuration of damaged tubulars is realistically described using empirically derived equations. The predictions using this method have been compared with relevent experimental results to demonstrate their validity and accuracy. A rigorous parametric study has been conducted using the method, and then a design formula has been derived based upon the parametric study results.
