"Dan-eum(痰飮)" is the pathological product which is developed in the progress of disease. "Dam-eum" itself can be an etiological factor and id developed as consequential products on diseases. This study is investigated into "Dam-eum" and stroke through the literature since the book, "Hwangje-naekyong(黃帝內經)" and the results are as follows. 1. "Dam-em" is the pathological product, which is changed into "Yol-Dam(熱痰)", "Pung-dam(風痰)" and "Seub-dam(濕痰)", owing to the disorders of diet and "Chil-jung(七情)", infirmity of "Jung-ki(精氣)", "Oi-gam-yuk-em(外感六淫)", constitutional factors and so forth. In is blocked up "Jangbu-Kyongrak(臟腑經絡)" and brings about stroke with the disorders in circulation of "Gi-hyul(氣血)". 2. "Dan-em" is formed out of "Jin-aek(津液)", which is changed through the pathological process of "Gi-cheh(氣體)", "Hwa-yoi(化鬱)" and "Han-eng(寒凝)". In the meanwhile, the brain keeps its function with nutrition of "Jin-aek", If "Dam-eum" is formed by deficiency and circulation disorders of "Jin-aek", it can affect the brain 3. "Dam-eum" is correlated with "Eo-hyul(瘀血)", and the pathological transformations. In the attack of stroke. "Dam-eum" precedes "Eo-hyul", in reverse or the two are concurrent with each other.

This study has been carried out to investigate the cause and symptom treatment of Dam-Hum (痰飮) by referring to 41 literatures. The results were as follows; 1. The factors causing Dam-Eum (痰飮) divided into 3 groups. The 1st outer factors are six dirty (六淫), 2nd week and yanghu (陽虛), 3rd mental. 2. The symptom of Dam-Eum (痰飮) is as follows. (1) dam(痰) : cough, retching, pain of sub-ribs, vomiting, crazy, coma, dizziness. (2) eum(飮) : edema, stimulus feeling in throat, cough with pain, cough, hemoptysis indigestion. 3. The treatment of Dam-Eum (痰飮) is as follows. gudam(祛痰), sungi(順氣), bobipaesin(補脾肺腎), chungyul(淸熱), jesep(除濕). 4. The drugs of Dam-Eum (痰飮) is as follows. gudam (祛痰): ejintang (二陳湯), dodamtang (導痰湯), gunghatang (芎夏湯). sungi (順氣) : chilgitang (七氣湯), gamisachiltang (加味四七湯). babi (補脾) : gwibitang (歸脾湯), sagunjatang (四君子湯). bopae (補肺) : bapaetang (補肺湯), yunpaeeum (潤肺湯), saeumjun (四飮煎). bosin (補腎) : yukmihwan (六味丸), palmihwan (八味丸), singihwan (腎氣丸).

Dam-eum(痰飮) is peculiar pathological product which is caused by functional difficulty in human fluid replacement and that principally originated functional difficulty between Lung(肺), Spleen(脾), Kidney(腎) and Sam-Cho(三焦). Dam-eum(痰飮) comes into force to disorder about ascending, decending, in and out of human energy circulation and frequently raises functional difficulty in human fluid replacement. As a result of that, it has much effect on action of Spirit(神志). After literatual study on the effect of Dam-eum(痰飮) on Spirit(神志), the result were obtained as follows : Dam-eum is not affecting to Spirit by itself. When Dam-eum is Positive Symptom(實證), Yang Symptom(陽證), mainly it affects to Spirit with Pung(風), Hwa(火), Kyung(驚), Youl(熱). And when it is Negative Symptom(虛症), it mostly affects with 脾胃虛寒, 心血不足. Dam-eum is a factor of causing disharmony between Heart & Kidney(心腎), Heart & Liver(心肝), Stomach & Gall Bladder Line(胃膽經) by 痰迷心竅, 痰火擾心. So it brings out troubles of fluid replacement. These are the main circumstances of affecting Spirit. To cure Disease of Spirit(神志病), which is caused by Dam-eum, there are not only uses the treatment of 理痰氣, 豁痰開竅. There are two treatments to use together. The first treatment is 淸熱, 定驚, 息風, 淸心 that removes fitted toxin. And the other treatment is that keeps the balance of Internal Organs.

Purpose : Dam-eum and women about this disease is closely related to the fact that research is not developed encounter the report. The purpose of this disorder is associated with women with Dameum hew to evaluate the affects around Dongulbogam Search and compare some of the knowledge gained. are reported. Methods : Donguibogam focused on search and related papers were. Results : In Donguibogam Dam-eum(痰), Yoen(涎), Eum(飮) to distinguish, but the reason was that one, 痰飮 sap needed to nutritious the body, such as a material or normal for various reasons by the sap from the leaves to cause disease states may be the cause. Conclusion: Digestive, respiratory-related, but now the recognition of the Dameum changes in diet and lack of exercise, stress, lifestyle diseases due to climate change are increasing asa Dameum and women in the pathogenesis of disease high enough proportion of the treatment for Dameum Applications will be denied a lot of disease is considered.

This is a case report of a tracheostomized 80-year-old man suffering from sputum after stroke. His symptoms were watery sputum production requiring frequent sputum suction. The subject was diagnosed as having a deficiency of spleen qi and was treated with Gami-ijung-tang, Yukgunja-tang, Soeumin Bojungikgi-tang, and Ijin-tang extract in the herbal prescription known to dispell Dam-eum (phlegm-retained fluid). Frequency of ssputum suction and condition of sputum were checked everyday. Gamiijung-tang, Soeumin Bojungikgi-tang with Ijin-tang extract led to improvement by reducing sputum secretion. There were limitations on frequency of suction and condition of sputum which were thought to be derived from tracheostomy, however. Consequently, pathology and treatment of sputum will be different whether tracheostomy was performed or not.
