Objective: Functional dyspepsia refers to sustainable or repetitive pain at upper stomach related with food intake. This research was intended to observe the improvement of the symptom by administering Bowhatang to a number of functional dyspepsia patients and to clarify its clinical effects. Method: The research was performed upon the appropriate 36 patients conforming to the criteria after being diagnosed with functional dyspepsia among the 87 patients who visited the department of internal medicine at Gumi Oriental Hospital of Daegu Haany University for digestive diseases and were administered with Bowhatang. Result: 91.8% of the patients had upper stomach globus symptoms. which is of the largest percentage. and 13.5% had hunger pain. which is of the least percentage. After administering Bowhatang. by and large Likert scale was significantly reduced. According to the subjective improvement evaluation by the patients. 32 patients(86%) were improved. and 3 patients(8%) had neither improvement nor relapse. while 2 patients ( 6%) were relapsed. Conclusion: Bowhatang has shown significant improvement about the symptoms for functional dyspepsia patients. It is predicted when more outcomes become available from researches on side effects or toxicity of Bowhatang later on. it will be more often used in the clinic.

'신 대구십경' 선정을 위해 대구지역 경관을 대표하는 56개 지역을 대상으로 대구지역 주민 390명(대구 외 지역주민 63명 포함)을 임의로 선정하여 설문조사한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1) '신 대구십경' 선정에 있어 뚜렷한 지역성은 나타나지 않았다. 2) '신 대구십경'에 서거정의 '대구십영' 중 '공령적설'과 '북벽향림'이 포함되었다. 3) 대구지역 최고의 경관은 팔공산으로 나타났다. 4) '신 대구십경' 선정 시, 응답자들은 역사성을 가장 중요한 평가항목으로 응답하였으나, 선정된 '신 대구십경'에서는 그러한 경향을 찾아 볼 수 없었다. 5) 선정된 '신 대구십경' 중 남·여 공히 선정한 대상지는 비슬산, 두류타워, 팔공산, 대구스타디움으로 자연경관과 인문경관이 적절하게 구성되어 있다. 6) 대구 외 지역주민 역시 대구 지역주민과 마찬가지로 두류타워, 비슬산, 팔공산에 대한 선호도는 높게 나타났다.

This study was aimed to obtain epidemiological information of cancer patients treated with Oriental medicine. 58 breast and gynecological cancer patients treated in Cancer Center of Daeguhanny Oriental Hospital from August 2012 to August 2013 were reviewed. Careful investigations were done by categorizing these patients by their origin, stage, treatment, conventional treatment type, chief complaint, etc. In tumor origin, breast cancer showed the largest proportion in total patients(74.1%) and inpatients(81.8%). 63.8% of the patients' tumors were stage III and IV. 48.3% of patients visited Oriental hospital for combination treatment with conventional medicine. 91.4% of the patients have under 5 years of cancer duration. Their cheif complaints are general weakness, postoperative pain and abdominal discomfort in general. This study presented the characteristics of breast and gynecological cancer patients treated by Oriental medical therapies, and thus would be valuable for futher studies of Oriental medical cancer treatments.

Objectives: This study is a report of the clinical application of traditional Korean medicine on ataxia with cerebellar atrophy. Methods: The ataxia in this case occurred 5 years ago. The symptoms had been getting worse until the patient came to hospital. The MRI of this patient showed atrophy of the cerebellum. We measured the state of this case with the Korean version of the Berg Balance Scale (K-BBS), before and after treatment and Numeric Rating Scale-11 (NRS-11) of the symptoms, every week. We treated the case with traditional Korean medicine such as acupuncture and Gamiyukmijihwang-tang. Results: After treatment, the score of K-BBS increased, while the score of NRS-11 decreased. Conclusions: According to this study, traditional Korean medicine is effective for controlling ataxia caused by cerebellar atrophy.

Chiari's networks are present in 1.5% to 4% of the population. They are a congenital disease characterized by a remnant of the right valve of sinus venosus and rarely have clinical significance. Chiari's network, as the name implies, has network-like shape, but there are other forms of appearance. We have experienced a case of a 60-year-old woman who had a cystic mass on the right atrium. Surgical treatment was performed forthe mass removal and differential diagnosis of the mass. There was no evidence of other tumor, but Chiari's network. As cystic form of Chiari's network have not been reported before, it is the first report of cystic form of Chiari's network.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to show the clinical effect of Korean Medical Treatments for Tinnitus with Sudden Sensory Neural Hearing Loss. Methods : The patient was treated by Korean Medical Treatments for 10weeks. The effect of treatments on tinnitus was measured with Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Korean Tinnitus Handicap Inventory(K-THI). And the effect of treatments on sudden hearing loss was measured by VAS. Results : VAS of Tinnitus was decreased from 10 to 3 points and K-THI score was decreased from 70 to 26 points. VAS of hearing loss was decreased from 9 to 8 points. Conclusions : Korean Medical Treatments are effective on Tinnitus.
