  • Digital signal processing (DSP) is the process of taking a signal and performing an algorithm on it to analyze, modify, or better identify that signal.[1] To take advantage of DSP advances, one must have at least a basic understanding of DSP theory along with an understanding of the hardware architecture designed to support these new advances. There are several programming techniques that maximize the efficiency of the DSP hardware, as well as a few fundamental concepts used to implement DSP software. This article introduced some of these underlying functions that are the building blocks of complex signal processing functions, and It will touch on the fundamental concepts of DSP theory and algorithms and also provide an overview of the implementation and optimization of DSP software, and discuss the development of DSP.

  • This paper presents a study on the DSP(Digital Signal Processor) controller for the PBW(power-by-wire) system using BLDC(Brushless Direct Current) servo motor pump. The PBW hydraulic actuator was realized with hydraulic pump driven by BLDC servo motor, hydraulic cylinder and controller. This PBW system needs speed control of servo motor for linear thrust action of hydraulic cylinder. This paper implements a servo controller with vector control algorithm and MIN-MAX PWM technique. As CPU of a controller, TMS320F2812 DSP was adopted because it has PWM waveform generator, A/D converter, SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface) port and many input/output port etc.

  • For developing new algorithms or dedicated hardware by using general purpose Digital Signal Processor chip, emulator H/W and simulator S/W are indispensible. But the most of DSP emulators have limitations on H/W flexibility according to their generalized architectures. In this paper, a DSP evaluation system for real time signal processing was developed using TMS 32020. The I/O buffers storing acquisition data of the system were designed to have variable length $(1\sim2048samp1es) &$ sampling frequency $l00\sim8KHz$.

  • A universal controller is designed using a DSP (digital signal processor). The design objectives of the system are to implement control algorithms that require a lot of calculations and to develop a convenient user-interface environment. To demonstrate the efficiency of the system, the time delay control algorithm is implemented for the 2 D.O.F.SCARA type robot and the experimental results are presented.

  • Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising technology for high speed multimedia communication in a frequency selective multipath channel. In this paper, Software IPs for the synchronizer of IEEE 802.11a Wireless LAN system are designed and optimized for TI's TMS320C6201 fixed point DSP. As a result of the execution cycles of the target DSP for each functions of the system, an efficient HW/SW partitioning method can be considered.

  • JPEG 2000표준을 이용하여 계산상 효율적이면서도 DSP에 적합한 영상 압축 알고리즘을 개발한다. 개발될 기법이 갖는 가장 큰 장점은 비교적 복잡한 연산량을 필요로 하여 실시간 동영상 부호화기에 사용되지 못하고 있는 JPEG 2000 알고리즘을 DSP에 맞게 구현함으로써 고화질의 동영상을 실시간으로 처리할 수 있게 한다. 또한 사용자의 요구 및 사양에 맞추어 보다 효과적으로 컨텐츠를 제공하기 위해, 시, 공간적 스케일러비티를 지원하는 코덱을 개발하여 사용자의 요구와 필요 서비스에 따라 적절한 품질의 비디오를 제공함으로써 더 많은 응용에 쉽게 적용시킬 수 있는 방법들을 제시한다.

Real-time Auto Tracking System using PTZ Camera with DSP

  • In this paper we proposed a PTZ camera system which automatically detect and track moving objects in the image. Once a moving object is detected the PTZ camera traces it in real-time. We proposed the control system which does not depend on camera focusing functionality but uses the object's center, moving direction, distance and speed. We implemented the system with the TI DM6446 DSP chip. The experimental result shows that the system has excellent performance for high speed vehicles.

A Dynamic Analysis on the Relative Effectiveness of Promoting Policies for Information Security Industry (정보보호 산업 육성정책의 상대적 효과 분석)

  • The focus of this paper is comparing relative effects of government policies for upbringing information security industry from the dynamic point of view. For the purpose of simplicity, these policies are classified into three groups, and then the relative effectiveness of these policy groups is examined using System Dynamics. The three policy groups are composed of technology development policies (TDP), human resource development policies (HDP), and direct supporting policies for overseas expansion (DSP). From the result of the analysis, DSP appears to be the most effective and HDP is the second-best group. By the way, for successful carrying into effect of DSP, marketing manpower should be strengthen. However, current HDP has been focusing on the bringing up technical experts. Therefore, overseas marketing manpower should be reared as well as technicians. Also, the existing infrastructure for overseas expansion for other industries should be shared for DSP of information security industry, because this is essential for success of DSP in terms of timing and costing. Finally, in spite of its low effect, TDP should be maintained continuously. The importance of information security technology is increasing and some countries have already considered these technologies as a core of future national defense. Therefore, we should acquire the competitiveness for a few technologies through continuous development of selected technologies at least.

A Study on the DVR System Realization with Watermarking and MPEG-4 for Realtime Processing Speed Improvement (워터마킹과 MPEG4를 적용한 DVR 시스템과 실시간 처리 속도 향상에 관한 연구)

  • The DVR system realization with watermarking and MPEG-4 for real time processing speed improvement is presented in this paper. For the real time processing the system is used the DSP processor, Quick DMA for data transmission, watermarking for security and MPEG-4 compression for facility. The algorithms are that the operational structure has the internal memory of processor, and the optimal realization is suitable to form the DSP processor structure r processed for the iterative operations. The experimental result shows the real time processing is improved 12% over for the D1 image in comparison with the other system.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a real-time, high-precision vision system and its application to SMT(surface mounting technology) automation. The vision system employs a 32 bit MC68030 as a main processor, and consists of image acquisition unit. DSP56001 DSP based vision processor, and several algorithmically dedicated hardware modules. The image acquisition unit provides 512*480*8 bit image for high-precision vision tasks. The DSP vision processor and hardware modules, such as histogram extractor and feature extractor, are designed for a real-time excution of vision algorithms. Especially, the implementation of multi-processing architecture based on DSP vision processors allows us to employ more sophisticated and flexible vision algorithms for real-time operation. The developed vision system is combined with an Adept Robot system to form a complete SMD system. It has been found that the vision guided SMD assembly system is able to provide a satisfactory performance for SND automation.
