The effect of pilot injection quantity on the combustion and emissions characteristics of a compression ignition engine with a biodiesel-compressed natural gas (CNG) dual fuel combustion (DFC) system is studied in this work. Biodiesel is used as a pilot injection fuel to ignite the main fuel, CNG of DFC. The pilot injection quantity is controlled to investigate the characteristics of combustion and exhaust emissions in a single cylinder diesel engine. The injection pressure and injection timing of pilot fuel are maintained at approximately 120 MPa and BTDC 17 crank angle, respectively. Results show that the indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP) of biodiesel-CNG DFC mode is similar to that of diesel-CNG DFC mode at all load conditions. Combustion stability of biodiesel-CNG DFC mode decreased with increase of engine load, but no notable trend of cycle-to-cycle variations with increase of pilot injection quantity is discovered. The combustion of biodiesel-CNG begins at a retarded crank angle compared to that of diesel-CNG at low load, but it is advanced at high loads. Smoke and NOx of biodiesel-CNG are simultaneously increased with the increase of pilot fuel quantity. Compared to the diesel-CNG DFC, however, smoke and NOx emissions are slightly reduced over all operating conditions. Biodiesel-CNG DFC yields higher $CO_2$ emissions compared to diesel-CNG DFC over all engine conditions. CO and HC emissions for biodiesel-CNG DFC is decreased with the increase of pilot injection quantity.
Purpose: Dental floss clip (DFC) traction-assisted endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is widely performed owing to its simplicity. This study aimed to clarify the appropriate indications for the DFC traction method in early gastric cancer when ESD is performed by less-experienced endoscopists. Methods and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 1,014 consecutive patients who had undergone gastric ESD performed by less-experienced endoscopists between January 2015 and December 2020. Gastric ESD was performed without DFC in all cases before December 2017 [DFC (-) group, 376 cases], and ESD was performed with DFC in all cases after January 2018 [DFC (+) group, 436 cases]. The procedure time and rates of en bloc resection, complete resection, and adverse events of the groups were compared. Results: The procedure time did not differ significantly between the 2 groups. However, when comparing lesions >20 mm, the procedure time in the DFC (+) group was significantly shorter than that in the DFC (-) group (95±46 vs. 75±31, P<0.01). The procedure time for lesions located in the greater curvature of the upper or middle stomach and lesions >20 mm located in the lesser curvature side of the stomach in the DFC (+) group was significantly shorter than that in the DFC (-) group. Conclusions: The indications for DFC during gastric ESD by less-experienced endoscopists include lesions located in the greater curvature of the upper or middle stomach, and lesions >20 mm located in the lesser curvature of the stomach.
DFC-2, a methyl 5-[2-(dimethylamino)ethoxy]-7,12-dioxo-7,12-dihydrodinaphtho[1,2-b:2',3'-d]furan-6-carboxylate, is reported to have antitubercular effects against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. At concentrations ranging from 0.19 to $0.39{\mu}g/ml$, DFC-2 inhibited both drugusceptible and -resistant strains of M. tuberculosis. Microarray analyses were employed to gain insights into the molecular mechanisms of DFC-2's action in M. tuberculosis. The most affected functional gene category was "lipid biosynthesis," which is involved in mycolic acid synthesis. The decrease in transcription of genes related to mycolic acid synthesis was confirmed by RT-PCR. Furthermore, we found that DFC-2 triggered a reduction in mycolic acid levels, showing a similar pattern to that of mycolic acid synthesis inhibitor isoniazid. These results may explain how this compound kills mycobacteria efficiently by inhibiting mycolic acid synthesis.
This research has been focused upon and analyzing Medison, once a leading New Technology-Based Finn (N1BF) in Korea with exceptionally advanced technology in 3D ultrasound diagnostic imaging devices (UDIDs) (armored with 23 subsidiaries at its peak expansion), from the perspective of Dynamic Finn Capability(DFC). The underlying hypothesis is that the various problems from its pointless pursuit of the business styles or precedents of the existing large firms might be traced to its specific characteristics as an NTBF, which should have more preferably been based upon the distinctive competences such as differentiated technologies, institutional linkages, organizational routines, and complementary assets, etc. In conclusion, for the NTBFs with different DFC domains from those of the large firms, the optimal external linkages and comprehensive integration efforts (Process) under their specific organizational characteristics and constraints (path) are highly recommended for the continuous accumulation of their core capabilities based upon the technological assets (Position).

Farnesiferol C is a natural compound with various anti-cancer properties that belongs to the class of sesquiterpene coumarins. However, the low bioavailability of farnesiferol C limits its therapeutic potential. Here, we overcame this problem utilizing dendrosome nano-particles and evaluated the anti-cancer effect of dendrosomal farnesiferol C (DFC) on the AGS gastric cancer cell line. The 3-(4,5-dimethyl-thiazol-2yl)-2,5- diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were respectively used to detect the anti-proliferative properties of DFC and expression ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 as a hallmark of apoptosis. Compared to the void farnesiferol C (FC), our data showed that DFC significantly suppresses the proliferation of AGS cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner (P<0.01). Also, DFC meaningfully increased the expression ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 in AGS cells (P<0.01). The findings demonstrate that our nano-based formulation of farnesiferol C could be considered as a potential therapeutic agent in cancer targeting.
This study was carried out to investigate the appropriate hydroponic system when cherry tomatoes were grown in summer. The base diameter of the trunk, leaf length, leaf width, and the length of cluster were good in deep flow culture(DFC), and not different between NFT and rockwool culture. The first time of flowering and the fruit coloring per cluster were not different among cultural systems, but the marketable yields were good in DFC. In DFC, % dry weight, firmness, the content of organic acid and sugar were low, and the ratio of sugar/organic acid and vitamin C were high. So DFC is recommended for the summer cultivation of cherry tomatoes.

Power continues to be a driving force in central processing units (CPU) design. Most of the advanced breakthroughs in power have been in a realm that is applicable to workstation CPUs. Advanced power management systems will manage temperature, dynamic voltage scaling and dynamic frequency scaling in a CPU. The use of power management systems for microcontrollers and embedded CPUs has been modest, and mostly focuses on very large scale integration (VLSI) level optimizations compared to system level optimizations. In this paper, a dynamic frequency controlling (DFC) technique is introduced, to lay the foundation of a system level power management system for commercial microcontrollers. The DFC technique allows a commercial microcontroller to have minor modifications on both the hardware and software side, to allow the clock frequency to change to save power; results in this study show a 10% savings. By adding an additional layer of software abstraction at the interrupt level, the microcontroller can operate without having knowledge of the current clock frequency, and this can be accomplished without having to use an embedded operating system.

In this paper, the design methodology of digital fuzzy controller(DFC) for the systems with time-delay is presented and the qualitative effects of the quantizers in digital implementation of a fuzzy controllers are investigated. We propose the fuzzy feed-back controller whose output is delayed with unit sampling period and period and predicted. the analysis and the design problem considering time-delay become very easy because the proposed controller is syncronized with the sampling time. The stabilization problem of the digital fuzzy system with time-delay is solved by linear matrix inequality(LMI) theory. Furthermore, we analyze the stability of the quantized fuzzy system. Our results prove that when quantization os taken into account, one only has convergence to some small neighborhood about origin. We develop a fuzzy control system for backing up a computer-simulated truck-trailer with the consideration of time-delay and quantization effect. By using the proposed method, we analyze the quantization effect to the system and design a DFC which guarantees the stability of the control system in the presence of time-delay.

In this research, we proposed an efficient VLSI architecture of the lifting-based 2D DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform) filter with 100% hardware utilization. The (9,7) filter structure has been applied and extendable to the filter length. We proposed a new block-based scheduling that computes the DWT for the lower levels on an "as-early-as-possible" basis, which means that the calculation for the lower level will start as soon as the data is ready. Since the proposed 2D DWT computes the outputs of all levels by one row-based scan, the intermediate results for other resolution levels should be kept in storage such as the Data Format Converter (DFC) and the Delay Control Unit (DCU) until they are used. When the size of input image is $N{\times}N$ and m is the filter length, the required storage for the proposed architecture is about 2mN. Since the proposed architecture processes the 2D DWT in horizontal and vertical directions at the same time with 4 input data, the total period for 2D DWT is $N^2(1-2^{-2J})/3$.
The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of nutrient solutions, substrates, and nutrient solution concentrations in substrate culture of radish(Raphanus sativus L. var. sativus). Cooper's, Hoagland & Arnon' 5, and Yamazaki's solution were used to determine the most suitable nutrient solution in deep flow culture(DFC). In result, Yamazaki's solution treatment showed better results than Hoagland's and Cooper's solution treatments in leaf length, leaf number, shoot and root fresh weights. Cooper's solution was much worse than others. Root shape index were low as 0.6 in all treatments. The selection of suitable was conducted among 14 kinds of substrates which were used commercially, such as sand, perlite and peatmoss, in substrates culture. Sand was the most proper in radish growth and shortened the growth periods. Sand also showed better results then others in leaf length, leaf number, shoot and root fresh weight. On the contrary, radish growth in peatmoss was the worst. Generally, root shape index was higher in substrate than in DFC. In order to investigate the suitable ionic strength in radish, Yamazaki's solution was treated with EC of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mS/cm. Generally radish growth above 1.0 mS/cm concentration was good, and the best result was shown in 1.5 mS/cm. Vitamin C contents were not significantly different in the roots of radish grown under 1.0 mS/cm or more. The highest vitamin C content was shown in 0.5 mS/cm, and so was thiocyanate content. Anthocyanin contents increased with the increase of the ionic strength in nutrient solution. Mineral nutrient contents had no significant statistical differences between the treatments, but potassium content was remarkably high in 1.5 mS/cm.
