  • This paper describe VLSL design of crytographic processor which can execute triple DES and DES encryption algorithm. To satisfy flexible architecture and area-efficient structure, the processor has 1 unrolled loop structure without pipeline and can support four standard mode, such as ECB, CBC, CFB, and OFB modes. To reduce overhead of key computation , the key precomputation technique is used. Also to eliminate increase of processing time due to data input and output time, background I/O techniques is used which data input and output operation execute in parallel with encryption operation of cryptographic processor. The cryptographic processor is implemented using Altera EPF10K40RC208-4 devices and has peak performance of about 75 Mbps under 20 Mhz ECB DES mode and 25 Mbps uder 20 Mhz triple DES mode.

  • Symmetric block ciper algorithm consists of a chains of operations such as permutation and substitution. There exists four kinds of operation mode, CBC, ECB, CFB, and OFB depending on the operation paradigm. Since the final ciper text is obtained through the many rounds of operations, it consumes much time. This paper proposes a pipelined design methodology which can improve the speed of crypto operations in ECB mode. Because the operations of the many rounds are concatenated in serial and executed concurrently, the overall computation time can be reduced significantly. The experimental result shows that the method can speed up the performance more than ten times.

  • IPSec is a protocol which provides data encryption, message authentication and data integrity on public and open network transmission. In IPSec, ESP protocol is used when it needs to Provide data encryption, authentication and integrity in real transmission Packets. ESP protocol uses DES-CBC encryption mode when sender encrypts packets and receiver decrypts data through this mode IV is used at that tome. This vague has many risks of attack during transmission by attacker because it is transferred clean and opened. If IV value is modified, then decryption of ESP data is impossible and higher level information is changed. In this paper we propose a new algorithm that it encrpty IV values using DES-ECB mode for preventing IV attack and checks integrity of whole ESP data using message authentication function. Therefore, we will protect attacks of IV and data, and guarantee more safe transmission on the public network.

  • In this paper a design and an implementation of a crypto chip which implements SEED and Triple-DES algorithms are described. We designed it by VHDL(VHSIC Hardware Description Language) which is a designed system-description language. To apply the chip to various application, four operating Modes such as ECB, CBC, CFB, and CFB are supported. The chip was designed by the Virtex-E XCV2000E BG560 of Xilinx and we confirmed result of it at the FPGA implementation by functional and timing simulation using the Xilinx Foundation Series 3.li.

  • In this paper, an Information Security protocol in LLC/MAC Layer Architecture is discussed. This paper examines the security Vulnerability and threats, the security Service required to protect these threats, and architectural considerations of security protocol in IEEE 802 LAN architecture. To provide an Information security service, an information security protocol(SP2 : Security Protocol 2) PDU construction with LLC/MAC service primitives is suggested. To construct the SP2 protocol, the ECB, CBC mode of DES algorithm and DAA(Data Authentication Algorithm) of FIPS is used. The SP2 protocol suggested in this paper provides data origin authentication, data confidentiality, data integrity service.

  • In this paper, we proposed an architecture of a cryptosystem with various operating modes for the network security and implemented in hardware using the ASIC library. For configuring a cryptosystem, the standard block ciphers such as AES, SEED and 3DES were included. And the implemented cryptosystem can encrypt and decrypt the data in real time through the wired/wireless network with the minimum latency time (minimum 64 clocks, maximum 256 clocks). It can support CTR mode which is widely used recently as well as the conventional block cipher modes such as ECB, CBC and OFB, and operates in the multi-bit mode (64, 128, 192, and 256 bits). The implemented hardware has the expansion possibility for the other algorithms according to the network security protocol such as IPsec and the included ciphering blocks can be operated simultaneously. The self-ciphering mode and various ciphering mode can be supported by the hardware sharing and the programmable data-path. The global operation is programmed by the serial communication port and the operation is decided by the control signals decoded from the instruction by the host. The designed hardware using VHDL was synthesized with Hynix 0.25$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology and it used the about 100,000 gates. Also we could assure the stable operation in the timing simulation over 100㎒ using NC-verilog.
