Study of DC-DC Converter with Continuous output Current for Battery Charger (배터리 충전기를 위한 연속전류를 갖는 DC-DC 컨버터에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposed dc-dc converter with continuous output current for battery charger. If we charge energy storage device by conventional boost converter, current flows into the discontinuous and as a result reduces the life-time of battery. The output voltage of dc-dc converter should be higher than voltage of across the battery, specially if charging by PV there is a fluctuation of voltage due change of insolation and temperature, therefore will boost and regulate this voltage. The proposal converter includes forward converter and the output voltage of the proposal converter looks like an input voltage and forward output voltage's add. This topology was tested on simulation and experimentation. Simulation and experimentation results indicated that the proposal topology is useful for battery charging because the output current of the converter flows continuously and perfectly.

  • Input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) converters consisting of multiple modular DC/DC converters can enable low voltage rating switches to be used under high voltage input applications. This paper presents a digital control strategy, which can achieve equal sharing of input voltage for a modular ISOP system consisting of two-transistor forward DC/DC converters by forcing the input voltages of neighboring modules to be equal. The proposed scheme is analyzed using small signals analysis based on the state space average method. The performance of the proposed control strategy is verified with an experimental prototype of an ISOP converter made up of three two-switch forward converters.

  • when electric traction system used DC 1500V runs on decline of rail road track and slows down, dc voltage goes beyond regular voltage. In this case extra power is forcibly wasted by resister because rectifier of substation and electric train including power converter and so on are out of order. This paper described a DC electric railway system, which can generate the excessive DC power form DC bus line to AC source in substation for traction system. The purpose of this study was the development of the regenerative inverter system which suppress extra DC-line voltage and regenerate the energy instead of using a resister. That is Developed regenerative inverter system returns the regenerative energy from the DC line voltage to the utility. In addition, the inverter can be compensate the harmonics caused by the power conversion devices used in the DC traction system.

  • This paper proposes the new soft switching DC-DC converter. We reported the experimental results of the new soft switching DC-DC converter. The proposed converter is to resonate between the leakage inductance of the transformer and the parasitic capacitances of the main switches for zero voltage switching. The voltage stresses of the two switches are the input voltage, it can improve the efficiency and a reduced height used two transformers. Theoretical analysis of the converter along with experimental results is provided. Finally, a 3.3V/20A prototype converter operation at 100kHz is built and experimental waveform verifies the analysis.

  • This paper deals the characteristic analysis of Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) driven by single-pulse mode considering dc link voltage ripple. Two dimensional time-stepped Finite Element Method(FEM) is used to analyze the characteristic of SRM driven by single-pulse mode with dc link voltage ripple. The analysis results is verified by experimental test.

  • An effective Carrier-Based PWM scheme that enables the instantaneous quality of each branch point voltage of a diode clamped 4-level inverter to be reduced at a low modulation index is described. This scheme presents a computed zero sequence voltage of PWM by the feedback of both DC-link voltages and load currents. The proposed PWM scheme enables to increase the controllable region of DC-link voltage and makes it possible to operate with small DC-link capacitors. The validity of the proposed PWM scheme is verified by simulation results.

  • In this paper, a model predictive voltage control (MPVC) for the DC-DC buck-boost converters is proposed. It provides a fast seamless bidirectional control method to maintain the DC grid voltage, battery voltage and current within predefined limits. In addition, an inner current control loop is not employed, so that the bandwidth of controller can be higher compared with the PI controller.

  • This paper proposes a new voltage reference generation method for Four-Switch Inverters(FSI) with compensation of the neutral DC-link voltage variation. Since FSIs have the split DC-link causing the inherent problem of voltage fluctuations in the upper and lower capacitors, it is required to take account the voltage difference between the top and bottom capacitors. In this paper, to reduce the effect by the voltage variation, reference voltages are modified by adding compensation voltages proportional to the voltage difference between upper and lower capacitors. Simulation results showing control performance of induction and permanent magnet motors demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we have designed and fabricated a RF-DC voltage multiplier for 5.8GHz microwave wireless power transmission. In order to obtain higher voltage, the RF-DC voltage multiplier with 10 diodes (D-10) and the receiver module with an antenna and BPF (Band Pass Filter) was manufactured. The measured and compared results show that the voltages of the proposed one are lower than those of the previous tripler module up to 40cm. However, the voltage of the proposed one with the voltage multiplier is higher than that of the tripler module at the distances of 45cm and 50cm due to the voltage multiplier with 10 diodes.

  • This paper presents a DC link voltage control method to reduce the ripple current and the switching loss in the sinusoidal current drive system for the wide-speed range PMSM. The DC link voltage of the three phase inverter in the sinusoidal current drive system is designed by the back-EMF voltage at maximum speed of the PMSM. In general, the drive systems have used the constant DC link voltage without reference to the motor speed. The current ripple causes hysteresis loss and makes noise. In addition, the switching loss on the inverter increases in proportion to the rise in the DC link voltage. In this paper, we propose the variable DC link voltage control method to reduce the current ripple in the PMSM drive system. We show reduction effect of the current repple and the switching loss through simulation results.
