  • Many organizations at home and abroad have been developing Metadata for reservation and administration of resources in every field. So we developed a game contents Metadata model for the purpose of reusing game contents, reserving copyrights, managing its life cycle, supporting efficiency of searches, and so on. We proceeded with this study by mapping, re-defining, and adding through the analysis of international Metadata standards and the survey of characteristics of game. Developed model is composed of 13 essential elements, 15 selective elements, and expressed by XML. Then we verified the effectiveness of this model's through expert groups' questionnaires, and showed the significance of the development through comparative analysis with the standard models. Accordingly we guess this study will be helpful to stable growth in rapidly growing game industry.

  • The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development is propelling the estabilishment project of Internet-based School Library Information System for prepares a foundation of resource sharing and inter-school library loan, to improvement of DB construction's efficiency and to reduces a maintenance's burden of local information system. This system adapted the Dublin Core based DLS-I metadata to accommodate teh network resources and conventional MARC, it will be able to use easily. But this system does not consider metadata for reading instruction that the important element of school library service. Thus, this study is review to the necessity of description on the reading and reading instruction beside of bibliographic data, extracts a metadata elements of reading and reading school library information system(DLS-I metadata)

  • The purpose of this study was to design and evaluate a metadata system for internet-based syllabi in computer science. The study constructed two prototype systems for the experiment. One was constructed using only Dubline Core (DC) elements and the other was a DC-expanded system with additional eight elements that are not the part of DC elements. The thlrty subjects were chosen from those who majored in Computer Science. Two retrieval tasks were assigned to them. One was to find syllabi in which they are' interested and the other was to find relevant course syllabi for a given course title. After the search, they were asked to evaluate the systems in terms of efficiency, accuracy, and their satisfaction of the system. The result of the first experiment indicates that DC-based system performed significantly better in terms of search time and DC-expanded system in terms of satisfaction measure. An additional experiment was conducted to test efficiency of the browsing categories. The interview with subjects was carried out to find any difficulties associated with the current browsing scheme. The subjects expressed much1 satisfaction about assigning a course to multiple browsing categories.

  • World Wide Web is not more meaningless sea of information but is becoming the Semantic Web that provides many users with meaningful information. The starting point is the XML and metadata, RDF is a stopover which gives technique to relate arbitrary web resources. And now, the semantic and logic of web resources can be settled in the Ontology. A lot of educational multimedia web resources in Korea have produced their metadata with KERIS's KEM(Korea Educational Metadata). Therefore our country have to start the study of the semantic and logic in web resources. But, many researchers in Korea are more eager to study Dublin Core's DC and SCORM's LOM metadata specification than KEM. Thus the study of method about sharing and integrating these three metadata specifications should be performed before the study of semantic and logic in web resources in Korea. We design the Ontology to integrate these three metadata specifications and implement the prototype system using this Ontology. These three metadata have some elements that have same labels and meanings, and other elements have different labels and same meanings. To match these different labels which have same meanings, we adapted the one-to-one mapping technique in designing our Ontology. This designed Ontology was imported as "integrated schema" in our prototype searching system to integrate three different metadata in databases. Moreover we know that the more specific property design of class in Ontology was needed in order to provide users with more informed searching results such as synonym, antonym, hierarchy and associations.

  • In this paper we have developed metadata system in order to utilize and refer to ICT educational resources which stand on the basis of standard international metadata " DC Core Education" by analyzing into the time input resources during each lessons. This metadata system makes addition metadata elements(introduction, development, review) in the flow of a general lesson to many ICT educational resources and high quality educational information in the web. It means elementary school teachers feel easy and convenient by offering systematically interface and unify reference. The system could expect to willing to help effectively lessons with ICT.

  • To build the consistency among different metadata systems and to increase the interoperability of that systems even among different domains, naming rules and glossaries for the data elements are necessary. This study provides discussion of naming and identification of the data element concept, data element, conceptual domain, value domain, and its meta model. This study also describes example naming conventions based on ontology derived from the combination with object, properties, and representation of data elements. The naming principles and rules described in this study use I-R analysis, DC metadata set, and SHOE 1.0 as an example of the scientific documents. This study would be a guideline to build the naming rules of metadata based on ontology in various domains.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce and discuss a newly-constructed metadata database system that facilitates the retrieval of faculty syllabi available on the Internet. This gateway system aims to provide users with one-stop access to syllabi posted by the faculty of the institutes of post-secondary education from all around the world. Several elements of the Dublin Core (DC) and other supplementary elements were used for cataloging the syllabi. The conceptual schema of all the selected elements of the syllabi was developed following the entity-relationship model. The metadata of the syllabi was then stored in a relational database system. Various searching and browsing interfaces were implemented to facilitate effective retrieval. The prototype, named as Gateway to Faculty Syllabi (GFS), is available at http:/Ais.skku.ac.kr/gfs/.

  • The paper discusses the nature of Knowledge Organization Systems (KOSs) and shows how these can support digital library users. It demonstrates processes related to integration of KOS like the Dewey Decimal Classification, $22^{nd}$ edition (DDC22) in DSpace software (http://www.dspace.org/) for organizing and retrieving (browsing and searching) scholarly objects. An attempt has been made to use the DDC22 available in Bengali language and highlights the required mechanisms for system-level integration. It may help a repository administrator to build an IDR (Institutional Digital Repository) integrated with SKOS-enabled multilingual subject access systems for supporting subject descriptors based indexing (DC.Subject metadata element), structured navigation (browsing) and efficient searching.
