  • In this paper, we study how to achieve the maximum capacity under delay constraints for large mobile wireless networks. We develop a systematic methodology for studying this problem in the asymptotic region when the number of nodes n in the network is large. We first identify a number of key parameters for a large class of scheduling schemes, and investigate the inherent tradeoffs among the capacity, the delay, and these scheduling parameters. Based on these inherent tradeoffs, we are able to compute the upper bound on the maximum per-node capacity of a large mobile wireless network under given delay constraints. Further, in the process of proving the upper bound, we are able to identify the optimal values of the key scheduling parameters. Knowing these optimal values, we can then develop scheduling schemes that achieve the upper bound up to some logarithmic factor, which suggests that our upper bound is fairly tight. We have applied this methodology to both the i.i.d. mobility model and the random way-point mobility model. In both cases, our methodology allows us to develop new scheduling schemes that can achieve larger capacity than previous proposals under the same delay constraints. In particular, for the i.i.d. mobility model, our scheme can achieve (n-1/3/log3/2 n) per-node capacity with constant delay. This demonstrates that, under the i.i.d. mobility model, mobility increases the capacity even with constant delays. Our methodology can also be extended to incorporate additional scheduling constraints.

The hall effect measuremetn was used to measure the electrical properties and the photoluminescence (PL) measurement was used to measure the electrical properties and the photoluminescence(PL) measurement for optical propety. By the cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (XTEM) investigation of the V and X shape defects including slip with angle of 60.deg. C and 120.deg. • Pseudomonas sp. P20 is a natural isolate which is capable of degrading biphenyl and 4-chlorobiphenyl. From a clone of pCK1022 harboring pcbCD genes of Pseudomonas sp P20, a pcbD gene encoding 2-hydroxy-6-oxo-6-phenylhexa-2, 4-dienoic acid (HOPDA) hydrolase was subcloned in Escherichia coli XL-1-Blue by using pBluescript SK(+) vector. The 2.8-kb HindII fragment harboring the pcbD gene cloned in pCK 1024 had a single site for each of XhoI, SalI, BstXI, and XbaI restriction enzymes. Escherichia coli CK1024 had a single site for each of XhoI, SalI, BstXI, and XbaI restriction enzymes. Escherichia coli CK1024 carrying pCK0124 degraded HOPDA to benzoate and 2-hydroxypenta-2, 4-dienoate by HOPDA hydrolase encoded by pcbD gene as effectively as E coli CK 1022 HARBORING pcbCD genes.

  • Nanotechnology has provided a set of tools that the engineers can use to design and manufacture integrated nano devices, which are capable of performing sensing, computing, data storing and actuation. One of the main hurdles for nano devices has been the amount of power that it can generate for transmission of data. In this paper, we proposed cooperative nano communication in the Terahertz (THz) Gap frequency band to increase the range of transmission. Outage probability (OP) performances for the proposed cooperative nano communication networks in the THz band (0.1 - 10THz) have been evaluated for the following scenarios; A) A single decode-and-forward (DF) relay over independent identically distributed (i.i.d.) Rayleigh fading channels, B) DF multi-relay network with best relay selection (BRS) over i.i.d. Rayleigh fading channels, and C) DF multi-relay network with multiple hops with BRS over i.i.d. Rayleigh fading channels. The results show that the transmission distance can be improved significantly by employing DF relays. Also, it is shown that by increasing the number of hops in a relay the OP performance is marginally degraded. The analytical results have been verified by Monte-Carlo simulation.

  • In view of the effect of antithrombin III on essential hypertension, we investigated the 5' untranslated exon 1 length (I/D) polymorphism and intron 5'-DdeI RFLP of the human antithrombin III gene in the Korean patients with essential hypertension. There were no significant differences in the allele, genotype and haplotype frequencies of these polymorphisms between normotensive and essential hypertensive subjects. The significant linkage disequilibrium was however, detected between I/D polymorphism and Dde I RFLP. The I/D polymorphism was also significantly associated with BMI, total cholesterol (TC) and HDL- cholesterol levels, while DdeI polymorphism with age and BMI. Therefore, our results suggest that the significant association between the genetic polymorphisms in the antithrombin III gene and variable cardiovascular risk factors may reflect the potential role of human antithrombin III gene in cardiovascular function.

  • Commencing with incandescent light bulbs, every load today creates harmonics. Unfortunately, these loads vary with respect to their amount of harmonic content and their response to problems caused by harmonics. The prevalent difficulties with harmonics are voltage and current waveform distortions. In addition, Electronic equipment like computers, battery chargers, electronic ballasts, variable frequency drives, and switching mode power supplies generate perilous amounts of harmonics. Issues related to harmonics are of a greater concern to engineers and building designers because they do more than just distort voltage waveforms, they can overheat the building wiring, cause nuisance tripping, overheat transformer units, and cause random end-user equipment failures. Thus power quality is becoming more and more serious with each passing day. As a result, active power filters (APFs) have gained a lot of attention due to their excellent harmonic compensation. However, the performance of the active filters seems to have contradictions with different control techniques. The main objective of this paper is to analyze shunt active filters with fuzzy and pi controllers. To carry out this analysis, active and reactive current methods ($i_d-i_q$) are considered. Extensive simulations were carried out. The simulations were performed under balance, unbalanced and non sinusoidal conditions. The results validate the dynamic behavior of fuzzy logic controllers over PI controllers.

  • We studied two-photon-resonant three-photon ionization processes via 4D[channel #1] and 5S(channel #2] intermediate state of Na atom in a quartz ionization cell. For each channel. the bandwidth of ionization spectrum increased linearly with laser intensity and the ionization signal followed J3 dependence at low intensity. Compared with channel # 1 . ionization signal of channel #2 was enhanced by a factor of 20 - 25. The measured AC Stark shift factor of 3S - 4I) transition was $174\pm60MHz/MW/textrm{cm}^2$..

  • The microbial organisms named "Pseudomonas sp. LK-14" were isolated from farm land and shallow river sediment, activated, augmented and identified; which were using 2,4-D (2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) as a sole carbon source and energy source. 2,4-D removal efficiency of LK-14 with 2,4-D sole carbon source (reactor S) were higher than that of Activated Sludge with 2,4-D sole carbon source (reactor A). Dynamic bioligical reaction kinetic parameters (sole carbon source was 2,4-D) obtained from batch reactor experiments were ${\mu}_{max}$ $0.105hr^{-1}$, $K_{s,24D}$ 15.64mg/L, $K_{i,24D}$ $1.94h^{r-1}$, $Y_{24D}$ 0.39 for LK-14 and ${\mu}_{max}$ $0.008hr^{-1}$, $K_{s,24D}$ 26.95mg/L, $K_{i,24D}$ $1.75hr^{-1}$, $Y_{24D}$ 0.10 for Activated Sludge. Using these parameters, we could predict the behaviors of 2,4-D substrate utilized by LK-14 and Activated Sludge in batch reactors. The kinetic parameters are enable to predict the 2,4-D substrate and microbial population behavior entering into wastewater treatment plants by using unsteady states dynamic simulation modeling technique.
