This research is to develop a seismic response analysis method for a spent fuel storage cask. FEM model is built for the test model of 1/8 scale spent fuel dry storage cask using available 3D contact conditions in ABAQUS/Explicit. Input load for this analysis os a seismic wave of El-centro earthquake, and the friction and damping coefficients in the analysis condition we obtained from the test result. Penalty and kinematic contact methods of ABAQUS are used for mechanical contact formulation. The analysis method was verified for rocking angle obtained by seismic response tests. The kinematic contact method with an adequate normal contact stiffness showed a good agreement with tests.

흙막이 벽체의 해석 시 일반적으로 적용되는 2차원 해석의 경우 굴착 폭이 작으면 토압에 의한 상호간섭이 발생하며, 그 영향으로 굴착 폭이 작은 구간에서는 2차원 해석 시 흙막이 벽체의 수평변위에 대한 신뢰성 확보가 어렵다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 2차원 해석 시 토압에 의한 상호간섭 발생의 범위가 되는 굴착 폭의 경계를 확인하기 위하여 H-pile 토류벽체에 대하여 점성토, 사질토, 사질토 및 풍화암의 지층조건에서 다양한 조건의 굴착 깊이(H)와 굴착 폭(B)에 대하여 2차원 및 3차원 유한요소해석을 수행하여 각 조건에 따른 굴착 폭과 수평변위의 관계를 연구하였다. 연구결과 수평 변위가 비교적 크게 발생하는 점성토에서만 굴착 폭에 따른 해석적 경계를 뚜렷하게 구분할 수 있었고, 그 내용은 굴착규모(B/H) 2.0 이하, 굴착 깊이 10m 이하에서 굴착 폭이 12m보다 작은 경우와 굴착 깊이 10m 이상에서 굴착 폭이 24m보다 작은 경우는 실제 거동과 유사한 3차원 유한요소해석을 하는 것이 합리적이며, 굴착규모(B/H) 2.0 이상, 굴착 깊이 10m 이하에서 굴착 폭이 12m보다 큰 경우와 굴착 깊이 10m 이상에서 굴착 폭이 24m보다 큰 경우는 2차원 유한요소해석을 하여도 무방하다는 결론을 얻었다.

This study deals with a kind of signal processing, Kalman filtering techniques, which are applied to ultrasound signal to improve resolution capability. The main advantage of Kalman filter algorithm for the analysis of reflected ultrasound signal is its recursive structure which can be easily adapted to time-varing system. In state-space description of the system, the 6th order system produces the best spectral approximation to the source pulse. As a result of spectrum analysis, 6th order estimator for two closely spaced (0.5mm) reflectors enhance resolution by 4dB - 10dB. By using this result, the possibility to detect even minute tumor is found.

Basic function of calorifier system is to supply warm water to the vessel. The heater used in the calorifier system plays a very important role in its reliability. The failure mechanism of heater are compared with accelerated life test. The main cause of failed heater is pitting corrosion occurred between the surface of heater and spacer. To prevent the corrosion failure from heater, material of spacer replaces metal(SUS 304) with polymer (Acryl). The life of redesigned heater can guarantee 2.47years of B10 life under the worst condition.

The Digital Meister is an advisory system to help the designer using the knowledge obtained from design and analysis data. In this paper, Taguchi method was applied to analyze the design parameters of automotive engine pulley. As a finite element method (FEM), ALGOR Multi-physics was used for analyzing the static analysis. As a result, two bending positions and material thickness were highly related to the maximum stress. These correlations between design parameters and analysis result will be used for supporting the design process of Digital Meister.

L1251B is an excellent example of a small group of pre- and protostellar objects in low-mass star-forming region. Previous interferometer data with a high angular resolution resolved the outflows associated with L1251B into a few components. To understand the physical conditions of the protostellar outflows in L1251B, we mapped this region spectroscopically with Spitzer/IRS and obtained spectral line data from Herschel/PACS. Spitzer/IRS provides the S(0)-S(7) pure rotational lines of H2 as well as fine-structure emissions produced in shocks such as S, [Si II], and [Fe II] and it is a powerful tool for studying shocked interstellar gas. In addition, [O I] lines observed with Herschel/PACS are described well by J-type shock models expected in the outflows from protostars. We will present an analysis of the L1251B protostellar outflow in the H2 pure rotational lines and fine-structure emissions.

Lectins and its A- and B-chains from Korean mistletoe (Viscum album var. coloratum) were isolated by affinity chromatography on the Sepharose 4B modified by lactose-BSA conjugate synthesized by reductive amination of ligand (lactose) to .epsilon.-amino groups of lysine residues of spacer (BSA) after reduction by $NaCNBH_3$. The lactose-BSA conjugate was coupled to Sepharose 4B activated by cyanogen bromide. The molecular weight determined by SDS-PAGE were a 31 kD of A-chain and a 35kD of B-chain. Amino acid analysis and N-terminal sequencing were performed. The effects of pH, temperature and guanidine chloride on the conformation of the lectin were investigated by measuring its intrinsic fluorescence and compared with its hemagglutinating activities. Blue shift was detected on the acidic pH and there was a close relationship between activities and conformation of the lectin. Under denaturing conditions, the tryptophan emission profile of lectin showed typical denaturaiional red shift which also correspond to the conformations and activity of lectin.

The effects of diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase (DGAT1) candidate gene polymorphism on the economic traits of Hanwoo were studied. Through sequencing analysis, two polymorphism sites at K232A and T11993C were established and were analyzed by PCR-RFLP. The PCR-RFLP analysis for K232A showed that the frequencies of alleles K and A were 0.75 and 0.25, respectively, and the frequencies of genotypes for K/K, K/A and A/A were estimated as 0.509, 0.491 and 0, respectively. In the PCR-RFLP analysis for T11993C, we found allele frequencies of 0.773 and 0.227 for T and A, respectively, and 0.546, 0.454 and 0 for the T/T, T/C and C/C genotype frequencies, respectively. No significant effects on economic traits in Hanwoo were found in the separate analysis of K232A and T11993C polymorphisms, but the interaction between K232A and T11993C showed a significant effect (p<0.005) on marbling score. The DGAT1 candidate gene was found to have a significant effect not only on milk yield and component traits but also on the metabolism of intramuscular fat.

In this work, we applied the 1D 11B nutation NMR method for the analysis of the local structural environments in powdered borosilicates (SiO2-B2O3). Spin dynamics during a rf irradiation for spin I=3/2 was analytically calculated with a density matrix formalism. Spectral simulation programs were written in MATLAB on a PC. Two borosilicates prepared by the sol-gel process at different stabilization temperature were used for the 1D 11B nutation NMR experiment. The 11B NMR parameters, quadrupole coupling constants (e2qQ/h) and asymmetry parameters (η), for each borosilicate were extracted from the nonlinear least-squares fitting. The effects of heat treatments on the local structures of boron sites in borosilicates were discussed.
