  • The characteristic of magnetostrictive is to change shape in a magnetic field, TERFENOL-D is said to produce magnetostriction. A magneto strictive actuator need to the magnetic circuit. The most important design consideration is the magnetic circuit. The magnetic circuit consists of the solenoid coil, permanets for bias and shaping of the other parts through which the magnetic field passes. A good magnetic circuit ensures the proper magnetic field in th TERFENOL-D and very uniform magnetic field in all phases of the actuator operating cycle. This paper presents magnetic circuit design and analysis uesing FEM.

  • The SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) is composed of silicon steel plates where the rotor structure is simple and laminated without coil winding or permanent magnet, making it mechanically robust and its maintenance and repair excellent. Applying SRM as traction motor for railway vehicle is given consideration because of its ruggedness capability in severe loading condition and its compact structure. Optimal design of SRM is needed to reduce torque ripple to apply SRM for railway traction drive because SRM has high torque ripple. In this paper, switched reluctance motor with three different stator pole shapes is taken for magnetic analysis using 3d finite element method to apply SRM as traction drive for railway vehicle. It is observed that the model 3 added Tooth Tang Depth and Slot Round to stator shape gives the improved inductance and torque characteristic.

  • A 2.0T class HTS conduction cooled magnet was designed. Designing of magnet shape was performed through two steps. First step is to find a basic cross section for minimize the amount of conductor used and second step to optimize the coil shape to satisfy the magnetic field homogeneity. The magnetic fields was analyzed with FEM and the critical current value of magnet was also expected with the result of field analysis and the Ic to B curve of Bi-2223 HTS tape.

Bi-2212/Cu-Ni 튜브로 제작한 초전도 한류소자의 단락사고시험 결과 (Fabrication and Fault Test Results of Bi-2212/Cu-Ni Tubes for Superconducting Fault Current Limiting Elements)

  • For the development of superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs), fault current limiting elements were fabricated out of Bi-2212 bulk tubes and tested. The SFCL elements consisted of tube shaped Bi-2212 bulks and metal shunts for the stabilizers. Firstly, the Bi-2212 bulk tubes were processed based on a design of monofilar coils in order to acquire large resistance and high voltage rating. 300 mm-long Bi-2212 tubes were designed to have the current path of 410 cm in length with 24 turns and 41 mm in diameter. The processed monofilar coil, as designed, had 300 A $I_c$ at 77 K. The fabricated superconducting monofilar coils were affixed to Cu-Ni alloy as that of stabilizers. The Cu-Ni alloys were processed to have the same shape of the superconducting monofilar coils. The Cu-Ni coil had resistivity of 32 ${\mu}{\Omega}$-cm at 77 K and 37 ${\mu}{\Omega}$-cm at 300 K. The metal shunts were attached to the outside of the Bi-2212 monofilar coil by a soldering technique. After the terminals made of copper were attached to both ends of the superconductor-metal shunt composite, the gap between the turns and the surface of the elements was filled with an epoxy and a dense mesh made of FRP in order to enhance the mechanical strength. The completed SFCL elements went through fault tests, and we confirmed that the voltage rating of 143 $V_{rms}$ (E =0.35 $V_{rms}$/cm) could be accomplished.

  • 현재 서울대학교 원자핵공학과에서 제작중인 SNUT-79 토카막 장치에서의 고온 플라즈마의 구속을 위해서 순인장력 D형 곡선을 가진 토로이달 자장 코일을 수치 해석적 방법으로 설계하였다. 16개의 D형 토로이달 코일 뭉치는 플라즈마가 없는 경우 자장의 세기가 3T가 되도록 설계하였다. 토로이달 리플은 플라즈마영역에서 평균 토로이달 자장의 4%이하이다. 6개로 된 평형 코일의 위치와 전류 값을 Fredholm 제1종 적분 방정식을 선형 방정식으로 변환하여 얻었다. 평형 자장의 곡률도는 플라즈마 루프의 수직 수평 방향의 변위에 대한 안정화 조건을 만족시켰다.

Three-D core multiphysics for simulating passively autonomous power maneuvering in soluble-boron-free SMR with helical steam generator

  • Helical-coil steam generator (HCSG) technology is a major design candidate for small modular reactors due to its compactness and capability to produce superheated steam with high generation efficiency. In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of the passively autonomous power maneuvering by coupling the 3-D transient multi-physics of a soluble-boron-free (SBF) core with a time-dependent HCSG model. The predictor corrector quasi-static method was used to reduce the cost of the transient 3-D neutronic solution. In the numerical system simulations, the feedwater flow rate to the secondary of the HCSGs is adjusted to extract the demanded power from the primary loop. This varies the coolant temperature at the inlet of the SBF core, which governs the passively autonomous power maneuvering due to the strongly negative coolant reactivity feedback. Here, we simulate a 100-50-100 load-follow operation with a 5%/minute power ramping speed to investigate the feasibility of the passively autonomous load-follow in a 450 MWth SBF PWR. In addition, the passively autonomous frequency control operation is investigated. The various system models are coupled, and they are solved by an in-house Fortran-95 code. The results of this work demonstrate constant steam temperature in the secondary side and limited variation of the primary coolant temperature. Meanwhile, the variations of the core axial shape index and the core power peaking are sufficiently small.

  • 이 논문의 목적은 Target field approach방법을 사용하여 2차원적인 공간선택을 할 수 있는 고차 평면 경사 자계코일(High-Order SGC: High-Order Surface Gradient Coil)을 설계하는 것이다. 지금까지 쓰이던 원통형의 고차경사자제코일을 이용한 2차원적 원형 선택방법은 한 개의 RF Pulse로 2차원적인 공간 선택을 할 수 있는 장점이 있었으나 선택되어지는 체적의 지름이 6 ~ 8cm로 너무 크다는 단점이 있었다. 이 논문에서는 이와 같은 단점을 극복하기 위해 영상을 얻고자하는 부분에 코일을 좀 더 가까이 붙일 수 있어서 적은 전력으로 선택되어지는 체적의 지름을 1 ~ 4cm까지 줄일 수 있는 표면 고차자계코일을 Target field approach방법을 이용하여 설계하였으며 Phantom과 인체영상을 통해 제작된 코일의 성능을 확인해 보았다. 이전의 Field component 방법을 이용하여 설계한 코일에 의해서 선택되어지는 체적은 타원에 가까운 모양이 되었으나, Target field approach 방법을 이용하여 설계한 코일에 의해서 선택되어지는 체적은 이상적인 원에 가까운 모양이 되었다.

삼각 섬유성 연골(TFCC) 손상 환자의 자기공명영상 검사 시 Fat Suppressed 3D FSPGR T1 강조 기법에 대한 Fat Suppressed Isotropic 3D FSE T1 강조 기법의 비교 분석 및 유용성에 관한 평가 (The Comparative Analysis Study and Usability Assessment of Fat Suppressed 3D FSPGR T1 Technique and Fat Suppressed Isotropic 3D FSE T1 Technique when Examining MRI of Patient with Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) Tear)

  • 삼각 섬유성 연골(TFCC) 손상 환자의 평가를 위하여 fat suppressed 3D fast spoiled gradient recalled T1 기법과 fat suppressed Isotropic 3D fast spin echo T1 기법을 이용하여 영상을 획득하였다. 정량적 평가를 위해 각각의 영상에서 signal to noise ratio 및 contrast to noise ratio 값을 측정하고, Mann-Whitney U 검정으로 두 기법 간의 통계적 유의성을 검증하였다. 또한 정성적 평가를 위해 영상의학의 2명이 각각의 영상을 관찰하여, TFCC의 형태, 영상 내 인공음영, 병변의 묘사 정도의 3가지 항목을 선정한 후 이를 4점 척도(0: 진단 불가, 1: 부족함, 2: 충분함, 3: 좋음)로 평가하였고, Kappa-value 검정을 이용하여 두 관찰자 간의 일치도 검증을 하였다. 영상획득에는 3.0 Tesla MR 장비와 8-channel RF coil을 사용하였다. 정량적 평가 결과, 모든 영상 단면에서 signal to noise ratio 및 contrast to noise ratio 값이 Isotropic 3D fast spin echo T1 기법이 높게 나타났으며, Mann-Whitney U 검정을 이용한 두 영상기법 간의 검증도 통계적으로도 유의하였다(p < 0.05). 정성적 평가 결과, 관찰자 1, 2 모두에서 Isotropic 3D fast spin echo T1 기법의 평가 결과가 더 높게 나타났으며, Kappa-value 검증을 이용한 두 관찰자 간 평가 결과의 일치도 검증도 통계적으로 유의하였다(p < 0.05). 결론적으로 TFCC 손상 환자의 자기공명영상 검사 시 fat suppressed Isotropic 3D fast spin echo T1 기법의 적용은 TFCC 병변의 감별에 보다 유용한 진단적 정보를 제공 할 수 있을 것이라 생각된다.

  • Deflection Yoke(the following, DY) is the important electric device of CRT which deflects R, G, B beans influencing magnetic field produced by yoke coils. Recently, DY is designed to the saddle/saddle type of coils, being proposed for high-definite and high-efficient CRT. This paper presents the optimization of pin-sectioned saddle coil's shape for minimizing gap between desired and practical deflections of electron beams by using Genetic Algorithm. Evolution Startegy is utilized in this paper, since evolution strategy is a kind of genetic algorithms finding the optimized values by choicing the better generation with comparing the parents and their children. Here, the children are generated by only mutations from the normal random variables. Evolution strategy has shown better powerful converge rate than the other genetic algorithms becuase of using only the mutation-operator.

  • This paper deals with High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) Motor, which have two characteristics: the HTS magnet with iron plates as field coil, and the solid nitrogen $(SN_2)$ as a cryogen. The HTS magnet has iron plates to achieve the maximum current-carrying capacity and the simple shape that can easily be wound and jointed. The HTS magnet with iron plates, magnet optimized current distribution, and initial magnet are presented through 3 Dimensional Finite Element Analysis (3D FEA), manufacturing and testing these magnets. And, it is employed $SN_2$ for keep the operating temperature of HTS synchronous motor. To make the liquid nitrogen $(LN_2)$ of $SN_2$, Gas helium (GHe) passes into the heat exchanger and cools its own temperature. Two types of heat exchangers are designed and manufactured to make the $SN_2$, and each of the temperature characteristics is compared.
